awwwww .......VERY funny
matthijsalexander9 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I love Jim Jefferies, I think he is flippin hilarious. I love him being blunt and crude. A great comedian.

A great comedian doesn't make a great TV Host though. While Jim is funny and his monologues are somewhat funny, he simply looks like a fish out of the water. Uncomfortable in his chair, uncomfortable behind his desk but most importantly uncomfortable with subject matter, deliverance has a degree of insincerity.

The pilot for me was a weak and disappointing one. The format is no different from The Daily Show, John Oliver and Colbert. Comedy central really couldn't come up with something new? A wee bit sad. But, after Goreburger (a disastrous show) CC perhaps realized it shouldn't think for itself too much.

Jim doesn't look comfortable and feels very unnatural. Where John Steward was great because he could 'act' out emotions and John Oliver excels because he is funny AND intelligent, Jim pisses next to the pot. Jim comes across very flat and forcefully funny. Too scripted.

In his first show he chose topics like Trump and Slavery. Two topics that score points easily. Trump is being bashed so much on TV that is gets a bit old by now, I notice I start loosing interest and get tired of every show being dedicated to him.

Overall the show is funny but it really needs its own identity, and Jim needs a proper chair.

Edit:

I must be honest. I have seen all! episodes and Jim is simply funny. Instead of stand-up its sit-down, still the interviews are not very good but who cares..... the jokes are delivered in an excellent manner.

Give it Time To...
LouieInLove14 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I docked a point for the theme tune. The theme tune is simply forgettable generic shite. I mean, it's really bad, so much so it's worthy of mention. I'd happily hum them a tune down the phone that would be better than whatever they're currently using - for FREE!

Besides the appalling theme tune, it's actually an entertaining show. You have to give it some leeway as it's new & will obviously take a season or 2 to work out the kinks, but fortunately they have a host funny enough to carry the load until that stage is reached.

Jefferies is the gold nugget here & if they allow him the time & space to swim in this format he'll bring it home - so to speak. I basically mean that Jefferies is a comedic star & if they allow him the time to adapt to this format they'll have a winner on their hands. Out of all the pseudo current-affairs show hosts, Jefferies is by far the most naturally gifted comedian; just let the prick do his thing & DO NOT try & force him down some (PC) alleyway where his talent will be suffocated. Let the beast free & reap the rewards.

*Maybe get rid of the desk & let Jim sit one on one with the camera/audience - give it a less formal feel. Jim is a naturally gifted stand-up, so let the show reflect that in its look/presentation. He doesn't have the academic background that the likes of Oliver & Stewart have which allows them to easily fit into that pseudo newsreader role. Jim needs to be allowed to play to his strengths & sat behind a desk in a suit isn't his bag.

*UPDATE*

It's 4 episodes in & now really starting to find its feet. Jefferies is starting to flow. I still think it could do with being less formal & I STILL F**KING HATE THE THEME TUNE! Nevertheless, overall the show is coming together nicely.

I'd up my vote from 8 stars to 9 if they got rid of that F**king theme tune. Whomever came up with it needs a rusty spoon (that's been used by an AIDS ridden junkie to cook up with, then been doused in gonorrhoea discharge & shat on by a haemorrhoid suffer after a meal of beef vindaloo) shoved in their f**king eyeball.

It Isn't Intended To Be Another Comedy
he8816 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I read some of these one star reviews who obviously either do not get the show or are too right wing to get beyond the ocassiinal jab at Trump or other republicans. This also isn't just rehashing his stand up routines. Generally when comedians do that it doesn't take long to grow stale.

The episode I just watch dealt with poverty tours where well to do people go through areas of extreme poverty as though they are on a safari watching the wildlife in their natural habitat. He started in South Africa, but at the end he listed several such tours that go through poverty stricken inner cities here in America.

Jim Jeffries is a breath of fresh air because he goes way beyond current politics (Although it looked like that was where he was going in the first couple of shows.....Where I bet a lot of the one stars were formed). I do have two issues with the show. First is a half hour seems way too short. Second is that once a week seems way too few. I'd like to see at least one hour worth per week. I mean you can't expect it to go up to a shopping two hours a week like the Daily Show who has to take a week off every month from being so over worked.

The Daily Show alternative we've been waiting for
david-988542 July 2017
As an avid fan of Daily Show and Last Week Tonight I have long been waiting for a another show in the same league but with a different flavor of comedy, and an alternative perspective.

Jim Jefferies delivers a witty but often deeply insightful look at news and world issues.

Funny as hell and with heaps of potential
Jim Jefferies is one the funniest natural comedians currently out there and one of the few who tackles big issues in his own unique style. Though the first episode was still a little rough around the edges it was still funnier than anything fake Jimmy Fallon or Seth Meyers has ever done. Give Jim time- this show could be a hit.

Pretty darn good if ya ask me...!!!!!!
djpaule120828 June 2017
I give this show a 09 out of 10. The reason is because it blends real hard hitting, important, recent and at times controversial news stories with Jim's AMAZING witty and sarcastic humor. He also, makes the news understandable and able to be listened too by people that normally cannot stand listening to the regular news because it can be very boring. Jim isn't afraid of the hot button things to talk about either and I LOVE that!! He is new to this hosting thing and I am sure he will settle in AMAZINGLY after a few episodes. You could tell he was nervous on the pilot episode. He clearly cares about the USA ad all of us in it clearly. I couldn't give it a hard 10 yet because the topics he discusses in certain episodes just need more time and aren't able to be properly untangled within the time he is given. I would love to see an entire hour of this show instead of 30 minutes. I don't want to write this too long because people will lose interest and stop reading. So I will close with the fact that this is an AMAZING SHOW AND I LOVE IT VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

slightly condescending but on point
nameismatt26 February 2018
If you are a Trump supporter and believe big oil should be in charge of the environment, mexicans belong on the other side of a big wall and teachers need guns you probably wont appreciate this. He dumbs down the humour for the US market quite a bit but there is nuance that a higher class of fan will still appreciate. Due to the once a week slot structure you'll see a few jokes that the other late night stars made first but he often has a fresh take on them which is pretty difficult in such a convoluted market. Jim is doing a very decent job as he tries to find his feet as an established late night host. You can tell when he hasn't been putting the effort in, but towards the end of the season one he was on his game more often than not. With the season 2 extension we should see some more money thrown his way, hopefully he invests in a stronger writing team and graphic department which should add up to way more laughs. Good on ya Jimbo. Looking forward to season 2!

Improving with each episode
david-w6927 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Now that Jim has returned to his usual style of comedy, it's getting better and better - even though he has to pass TV-14, so no swearing without some bleep to disguise it. Brad Pitt had an excellent cameo. Recurring only 3 times unfortunately.

If you like Jim Jefferies comedy, you won't be disappointed with this show

A good copy, but a copy nonetheless
n-m-bertin21 October 2017
Let's be honest, Trevor Noah isn't as good as Jon Stewart. He's fumbling on words, the jokes aren't as spot on. The real alternative to his show is this, with Jim Jefferies. It's almost exactly the same. It's heavily political, with a lot of swearing added. Jim is in his element. More than say John Oliver, who has better ideas and does better interviews, but isn't as relaxed and fluid when he talks to the public. I hope Jim finds some fresh ideas, because it is extremely similar to the Daily Show, with the interviews and the reactions. Also, I expected it to be left-wing, and I don't mind but it's too much sometimes. And this is what makes John Oliver better : he goes and finds the issue that no one talks about. Once Jim will have TV veteran researchers working with him, with original segments, it'll take off.

Fraud
esmad3-216-47522425 March 2019
I like Jim Jefferies comedy, but this is twice now the show has been caught making complete hatchet jobs out of interviews. That includes cutting to match questions with different answers and reactions, basically rendering the interviews fraudulent. I can't see this show as anything but manipulation at this point, I've watched all the episodes but unless he addresses this directly very soon I wont be watching anymore.

A Refreshing View of the News
snakeye80812 August 2017
This quickly became one of my favorite shows if not my absolute favorite. Fans of John Oliver, Trevor Noah, Bill Maher and/or Seth Meyers will love it. Jim covers a wide range of topics and provides an informative, yet amusing, perspective on them. It's good to have another voice of reason on television, and somehow comedians have become the main voices of reason these days with mainstream media outlets becoming increasingly unreliable and untrustworthy. Much like his stand-up performances, his comedy on the show may offend some viewers who can't take a joke. In other words, if you're one of those overly sensitive, die-hard Trump supporters who starts sobbing and griping whenever you hear a critical joke about Trump, this show isn't for you. Jim is going to unapologetically call out Republicans, Democrats and anything else that is silly or illogical in the US.

Deceptively edits interviews to create an unflattering portrayal of guests he disagrees with
WhenGreyjoysCry25 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
So far he has done this at least three guests: Jordan Peterson, Richard Meyer, and Avi Yemini. Shame on you Jim. In this role, you are supposed to be a journalist, and with your actions, you are adding fuel to the dumpster fire that is the reputation of modern journalism. No one trusts journalists anymore, and you are part of the reason why.

Hilarious
drjgardner28 June 2017
Jim Jeffries is so funny you can barely sit still. Its irreverent, topical, savage, and spares no one. Jeffries is far ranging, with interviews of a Queensland Australia Senator, and the Ambassador to Azerbeigan. Of course he turns his attention to Trump now and then, but it's not endlessly dwelling on Trump's foibles.

Along with the funny stuff, Jeffries presents lots of real statistics about important subjects (health care, climate change, racism).

It's the funnies show on at the moment, and each episode gets funnier and funnier. His latest episode, about people who go on phony trophy hunts, is not merely hilarious, it is thoughtful and well reasoned.

Awesome writing!
kietas55811 June 2017
I personally thought the first episode was really funny. All jokes were on sensitive topics but still hilarious, which shows some really brilliant writing. Jim as a host is doing just fine, laid back as usual, he's not forcing something out of him he knows he can't deliver. like impressions. Jim doesn't do impressions. which is fine, Im sure they can manage without them, John Oliver does terrible impressions as well. anyway, great show, really hope that it will be successful.

My absolute favorite show!
louiepapp20 November 2019
Just learned the show has been cancelled. This show was funny, witty and took on topics with a fairly moderate tone. Looking at both sides and calling out the BS. I am sure Liberals will say it didn't go far enough and Conservatives will say he is too liberal. For me it was perfect and I will really miss it.

Excellent stuff. Taking the piss from the mess we call democracy. True Democracy doesn't exist for mere citizens. Its a plutocracy, rich ruling for the rich.

Humour
alive-5710919 September 2018
Jim originated as a stand up comedian with great presentation and originality. Unfortunately(I'm guessing) he's been bought by one corporation or another to propagate various agendas. The only thing Australian left is the accent. The only thing funny left is...the voice.

A more tender Jim Jefferies - I miss his cursing
frederic-raspe31 July 2017
I like this addition to the political comedy scene a lot, if you know Jefferies stand-up show, you will get a less krass approach to the topics he usually covers, but still with a lot of whit. Sometimes you really have to pay attention to get the whispered lines or remarks on the side, that give the Jefferies flavor to the show. This will not be for everyone, but I recommend everyone to watch this, because even if you do not agree on many levels, there is something to take away in every episode, sometimes it requires to read between the lines.

Show with Political bias pushing a huge leftist Agenda
mihaiqc23 March 2019
Jump cuts that put answers to questions edited as answers to other questions to make him seem ultra crazy for having a dissenting opinion. Incredibly crass attitude off camera to seem clean and enlightened on camera. Fake Altruism, fake interviews, etc.

Complete trash. Just a puppet.

Feck Yeah
kallamis28 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
So much better than the daily show. I like Trevor, but he just isn't as funny as Jefferies. He should be the next host of the daily show. AT least he actually shows up regularly for work. And he is funny as it gets. I may not agree with everything he says, especially his cowardice about weaponry, but he is still correct about so much, and so freaking funny. One night a week is not enough. As stated before, lets put Trevor in his place, and give the daily show to him. And he is not afraid to speak the truth about the orange loser the religious whackjobs elected into office using an outdated and corrupted system of the electoral college by altering zones so they could win. Let the truth be spoken, and such is what he does.

Great show but please bring back the podcast as it gives Jim and forest a proper platform to rant at the world. Great guests as well

One of the best shows at CC
namikazedante10 October 2018
I saw a commercial for the show on Comedy Central many times but didn't think much of it. But after getting into more stand-up Comedy specials I came across Jim Jefferies and his jokes and humor is right up my ally ! And I watched the show and laughed my ass off. And people who say it's a more ''tender jim'' and that he don't curse as much clearly don't know his comedy rutine.

It's especially fun when he is out doing interviews and just mess with people and if you want a good laugh this show is for you.

marioneyt3 May 2019
One of the best stand up comedians ever. Tackles actual topics with great wit and logic. Always good for a laugh or 10 per show. Ok, the right wing plebs may have problems with it but that's actually a complement if you ask me. I like the daily show but this is actually better (and rawer). Keep it up, Jim. Greetings from Belgium, aka the New Zealand of France. ;).

He got caught
sharpjohn15 April 2019
I thought Jim was funny until his little hit job on a you tuber and journalist. I'm not going to give names but if you go on you tube it's all there to be seen. Jim and his crew filmed an interview and then hacked it to make it look different. The person being interviewed had set up his own camera which proved how low Jim could be.

Check out how he doctored the Avi Yemini interview
geekoutmetal27 December 2019
Which is more than likely what ended this show. He has never apologized for defaming Avi nor trivializing the massacre in NZ, my home country.
