Jim Jefferies: High n’ Dry is a comedy special starring the always great Jim Jeffreries.
If you enjoy stand-up comedy, you will love this guy who has been doing this for years and who comes from Australia, after coming from the U.K. and finally, with an American nationality, offers us a variety of international themes, that for us, are very attractive.
He starts his special show with something that lots of us were talking about and which for all of us silently felt: we were fed up with the facemask. He goes on with koalas and a thousand other subjects with this humor of anecdotes which is always entertaining and which is especially enjoyable and frequent in streaming lately.
You probably know Jim Jefferies because of the FX Legit series or his own show he headed from 2017 to 2019.

Jim Jefferies is back on Netflix next month with his fifth stand-up special for the streamer, “High N’ Dry.” The special premieres globally on Netflix on February 14, just in time for Valentine’s Day. The stand-up follows previous specials “Jim Jefferies: Bare” (2014), “Jim Jefferies: Freedumb” (2016), “Jim Jefferies: This Is Me Now” (2018) and “Jim Jefferies: Intolerant” (2020). Scott Zabielski directed the new special.
“High N’ Dry” is actually Jefferies’ tenth TV standup special all together, which goes back to “Contraband” in 2008. According to the logline, “In the special, newly married and loving life with his wife and kids, Jefferies sounds off on the laziness of koala bears, the injustices of male pattern baldness and the reason why he’ll never drink again.”
Jefferies, Tim Sarkes, Alex Murray, Brian Volk-Weiss and Cisco Henson are executive producers of “High N’ Dry.”
Jefferies is currently on the road for his 2023 “Give’em What They Want Tour.

NBC has picked up a pair of comedy pilots for the 2020-2021 season.
The first is the multi-cam “Jefferies,” which will star Australian comedian Jim Jefferies as a fictionalized version of himself. NBC has given pilot green light to two comedies, multi-camera Jefferies, starring Jim Jefferies, from the stand-up comedian, writer-producer Suzanne Martin and Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner’s Hazy Mills; and single-camera American Auto, from Superstore creator Justin Spitzer and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment. Both projects hail from Universal Television where Hazy Mills and Spitzer are under overall deals.
Jefferies and American Auto both had a put pilot commitment at NBC — six years apart. Jefferies was pitched this past fall, while Spitzer and Kaplan originally teamed up and sold American Auto to NBC in 2013. The script did not go to pilot back then, and Spitzer went on to create another single-camera blue-color workplace comedy series for the network, hit Superstore, now in its fifth season. Jim Jefferies' late night Comedy Central series aired its final episode on Tuesday evening, with the Australian comedian and late-night host telling his audience the reasoning for doing so is pretty understandable.
"Tonight is the last-ever Jim Jefferies Show. It's been a great three years and we're sad to go but for good reason," he said in his goodbye monologue. "I've solved everything."
The host then left it to a montage of clips — sprinkled with celebrity appearances including Brad Pitt and Carol Burnett — to recap three seasons of The Jim Jefferies Show....

With the proliferation of both talk shows and sketch programs, the TV academy decided to split the Emmy Awards variety series category into two separate categories in 2015 to better recognize achievements in both these genres. While there were 28 entries for Best Variety Talk Series in 2015 that dipped down to 17 in 2016 and 20 in 2017. Although there were 21 such shows last year, this year there are again just 20 on the Emmy Awards nominations ballot. With six series reaping bids, the odds for each entry are pretty good.
All 22,000 plus voting members of the TV academy have until June 24 to cast their ballots for their favorite variety talk shows. In the past, voters were limited in the number of such shows that they could put forth; in 2017 that cap (which was usually 10 per category) was lifted. Unlike the Oscars voters for the Emmys do not rank their choices and nominees are determined by a simple tally.

"We love Jim's unfiltered, insightful, hilarious and global comedic perspective on the insane world we’re living in right now," said Sarah Babineau and Jonas Larsen, executive vps and co-heads of ...
On “The Jim Jefferies Show” this Tuesday night, the outspoken Australian comedian gets sworn in as an American citizen, a coveted status that he was afraid would be denied him by the President.
“I never mentioned in the show until this moment that I wasn’t a citizen,” Jefferies said in an interview with IndieWire backstage. “I didn’t want a red flag added onto my name. And Trump, I believe, is a petty enough man that he might do something like that. Nixon did this. Nixon started auditing late-night show hosts because they were making jokes about him. Then every single one of their staff got tax audits. So, it’s not beyond the realms of belief that Trump could be as petty as [Nixon was] because there’s just a phone call to be made and a list of people he doesn’t want.
“Like, I heard that John Oliver is not a citizen yet.

Tuesday’s episode of The Jim Jefferies Show is a big one for the Australian-born comic. Not only does it mark the finale of his second season on Comedy Central, premiering at 10:30 p.m., the episode documents Jefferies becoming a U.S. citizen — taking the oath alongside five other immigrants. He wrote about the curious timing of his decision for The Hollywood Reporter.
Tonight, thanks to the magic of television and the poor judgment of the United States government, I will officially become an American citizen.

On Tuesday’s edition of “The Jim Jefferies Show,” an exasperated Jim Jefferies said that the experience of living in the Trump era is like having the crazed logic of “#Pizzagate” being imposed on real life.
“In a way, we’re all trapped in a sexual slavery pizza/baseball dugout, in our minds,” Jefferies joked.
The comment came after Jefferies examined what he called “a new kind of emotion,” inspired by Donald Trump: “But… Wait… He can’t… F— you… Oh well, what can you do?”

To illustrate, Jefferies looked at recent news items, like the California wildfires that Trump blamed on environmental protection laws. He also brought up the report that the Epa is considering relaxing restrictions on asbestos. Jefferies then played a 2005 clip where Trump claimed asbestos could have prevented the 9/11 attacks from succeeding.

Seth Rogen ousted Brad Pitt as the weatherman of The Jim Jefferies Show on Tuesday night and set a very different tone for the broadcast: instead of offering a bleak prognosis of the warming climate, as Pitt did, Rogen portrayed a cheery oil-industry appointee who attempted to convince the show's host that the Earth was doing just fine.
Clad in a cowboy hat and leather jacket, Rogen surprised host Jim Jefferies when he appeared in front of the show's green screen of the globe during the weather segment. "We used to have a good-looking guy," Jefferies said,...

Jim Jefferies thinks it’s kind of weird how much Americans insist the U.S. is the “greatest country in the world,” and on Tuesday he suggested we adopt a new patriotic song that reflects a more modest reality.
First, he spent some time putting America’s current status in context on Comedy Central’s “The Jim Jefferies Show.” He discussed American education, health care and obesity.

With the proliferation of both talk shows and sketch programs, the TV academy decided to split the variety series category into two separate categories in 2015 to better recognize achievements in both these genres. While there were 28 entries for Best Variety Talk Series in 2015 that dipped down to 17 in 2016 and 20 in 2017. However, it is on the rise this year with 21 shows on the Emmy Awards nominations ballot. With six series reaping bids, the odds for each entry are pretty good.
All 22,000 plus voting members of the TV academy have until June 25 to cast their ballots for their favorite variety talk shows. In the past, voters were limited in the number of such shows that they could put forth; last year that cap (which was usually 10 per category) was lifted. Unlike the Oscars voters for the Emmys do not rank their choices and nominees are determined by a simple tally.

Unapologetically crass Australian stand-up comedian, actor, writer and political commentator Jim Jefferies has upgraded his residential circumstances in Los Angeles with the $3.15 million purchase of a newly built house in a leafy pocket of Studio City. Described in marketing materials as a “modern farmhouse,” the board-and-batten-sided family-sized domicile has five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms in more than 5,100 square feet protected by an extensive, camera-equipped security system.
The front door opens directly into a cavernous, loft-like combination living and dining room with matte-finished wide-plank floorboards and wood beams across the ceiling in the dining area. Anchored by a minimalist marble fireplace, the living room has a vaulted ceiling. A pass-through butler’s pantry connects the dining area to a gigantic, double-island kitchen fitted with every culinary bell and whistle money can buy. The kitchen is open to a spacious dining area and family room that features a fireplace set into an ebony-tile wall.

Jim Jefferies has a secret to tell about Brad Pitt. The movie actor has shown up several times on Comedy Central’s “The Jim Jefferies Show” as its unofficial weatherman, casually sharing the horrors of climate change. But here’s the truth: Pitt hasn’t dropped by in a year.
“This is the one that went viral, even though it was recorded a year ago,” Jefferies said of a recent Brad Pitt segment. The show had leftover footage of Brad doing a LeBron James joke, which felt timely because of the NBA playoffs. Slayer guitarist Kerry King happened to be on set, so they put him in front of a green screen, and it looked like the musician was a fan trying to talk to him.
“And then Gayle King is on the news going, ‘Wow, Brad Pitt must really love Jim Jefferies, he’s back on the show!’ I...

Jim Jeffries pushed back against the working conditions faced by NFL cheerleaders with his own squad, whose members are much better paid.
On “The Jim Jefferies Show” Tuesday, he talked about the New York Times story about Washington Redskins cheerleaders who say during a recent trip they were forced, among other things, to serve as escorts for wealthy sponsors.
“Now I’m not scientist but that sounds a lot like sexual harassment,” Jefferies said. “I remember when the Washington Redskins were just a team with a racist logo.”

Jefferies connected the story to conditions faced by cheerleaders across the NFL, such as penalties for conduct applied to cheerleaders but not players. He also noted a cheerleader guidebook for the former Buffalo Bills’ cheerleading squad, the Buffalo Jills, that included rules for how often to change tampons, and how to eat soup.
“To be fair, the Buffalo jills aren’t mistreated anymore,” he said. “Because the program was ended after the Buffalo Jills filed a lawsuit and attempted to unionize. So it’s all sorted.”

Jefferies then noted low pay like the $150 per-game earned by the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders. “Meanwhile, some mascots are paid as much as $65,000 a year. And they’re allowed to eat soup however they want,” he said.
Noting that if the same cheerleaders appeared on his show he’d have to pay them union rates that are “five times” higher than those for NFL cheerleaders, he unveiled the “Jim Jefferettes,” the “highest-paid professional cheerleaders in the country.”
Jefferies promised: “I won’t tell them how to eat soup. They can eat it however they want.”

Comedy Central has renewed “The Jim Jefferies Show” for a 20-episode second season, the Viacom cable channel’s chief Kent Alterman said on Monday. “You’d think I’d stop being surprised at how smart and funny Jim is about everything,” the Comedy Central president said at the Television Critics Association press tour. “I’m just glad we’re still giving visas to people from whatever s—hole country he comes from.” That would be Australia, Kent. Even as most shows have begun to coalesce around the same headline-response efforts on a daily and weekly basis, there’s still enough variety in late night TV to avoid painting it with the same broad brush. Sure, some days make it hard for approaches to the day’s biggest news stories not to have a little overlap.
But, for the most part, the stand-out moments from late night TV in 2017 come from the singular ways that these shows confronted a wide range of issues and curiosities outside DC confines. Perhaps you’ve heard: There’s been plenty of news out of Washington, D.C. lately.

A panel of late-night staffers spoke to the Television Critics Association on Saturday about the new challenges that have come with their job descriptions as things change in the White House.
“My first thought is always, ‘Were all going to die,’” said Christine Nangle, head writer for Comedy Central’s “The President Show. “Then you have to remember, is there anything for us to pull from?”
Even for shows that are only on once a week, there’s no rest for staff members who are keeping a closer eye on the news cycle than usual.
