In 1919, Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961) moved to Toronto and worked as a writer for the Toronto Star Weekly. In 1920, he returned to the United States, but continued sending stories to the Toronto Star. In 1921, Hemingway and his new bride moved to Paris where he was a foreign correspondent for the Toronto Star until at least 1923.
