- Fun-loving Faith Howells is drawn into a mystery when her husband and business partner, Evan, vanishes. While searching for the truth, she uncovers secrets about his life and questions how well she really knows the man she loves.
- Funloving Faith Howells is happily married to Evan, a fellow lawyer, with whom she has three children, including a new-born - Rhodri. Together they run a law firm, Howells - a local institution. One morning, Faith's idyllic life is shattered when Evan gets in his car for the five-minute drive to work and never arrives - vanishing without a trace. In Evan's absence, his colleague, Cerys, forces Faith to cut her extended maternity leave short and represent Arthur, a hopeless vagrant, at a bail hearing. Meanwhile, Evan's disappearance begins to trouble his frustrated sister, Bethan, his concerned father, Tom, and his nervous mother, Marion. Bethan's husband, Terry, the local police constable, starts some informal investigating and advises Faith she can only formally report Evan as missing once he has been gone for 24-hours.
Faith is shocked to discover that the firm's finances are in trouble and that Evan has secretly been going to counselling. On hearing best friend Lisa's advice saying, "everyone has got secrets", Faith searches through her home and discovers a fake ID with Evan's face, bearing the name of 'Alec Fenton'. Before Faith has time to process this, she gets a call from a family friend saying that Evan's car has been spotted at a local restaurant. Faith does the unthinkable and leaves her children unattended at home while she rushes out to investigate. No Evan. No car. But, she spots Evan's tie, the one he was wearing this morning, drifting across the tarmac. None of this makes any sense.
