Lysa Heslov, director, co-writer and producer of 2017 documentary “Served Like A Girl,” has teamed up with Matador Content and producer Wendy Finerman to make an eight-part docuseries based on the film.
The docuseries will follow female veterans competing in the Ms. Veteran America competition. The event was created to raise awareness about homeless female veterans who struggle as they transition from solider to civilian. “Served Like A Girl” will focus on five of the finalists as they prepare for the final competition while battling personal issues such as Ptsd, military sexual trauma, and combat injuries.
“I’m so thrilled to be working with the amazing team at Matador,” Heslov said. “And to continue this journey with these female warriors who took an oath to give their lives for our country is an honor.”

The spirit of Prince was alive and well at Sunday’s taping of “American Idol,” where the remaining seven contestants performed two songs each — one from The Purple One himself, and the other a song from the year they were born.
The top seven contenders worked with Sheila E., a close friend of Prince, to perfect their renditions of his songs. Nick Jonas, who helped hone their skills in performing the second song chosen from the year they were born, also mentored them.
Michael J. Woodard, one of the top five, said, “I knew I wanted to do ‘I Would Die For You’ because it’s my ultimate favorite. I knew it was big shoes to fill especially with Prince being such an amazing entertainer, so I had to really prepare and practice harder than I ever have before to really master the song, master the moves, and really keep people entertained.

The Top 7 on “American Idol” are heading out on the road this summer to play a series of live concert dates around the country, reports Variety. Season 8 winner Kris Allen will host with these season 16 artists set to take to the stage: Gabby Barrett, Cade Foehner, Caleb Lee Hutchinson, Maddie Poppe, Jurnee Siani, Catie Turner and Michael J. Woodard.
In a smart move, the show’s producers are booking the season 16 tour into smaller venues than they have in the past to ensure sell-out crowds. The eight-week tour will begin on July 1. Confirmed dates include the Mountain Winery in Saratoga, California on July 27 and Wente Vineyards in Livermore, California on July 31.
Other dates will be announced on the May 6 live episode of “American Idol,” which will feature the Top 7 singing two songs: one from the catalog of the late singer/songwriter Prince and the other from the year they were born.

After two years off, the “American Idol” live tour is back for a summer of concert dates, Variety has learned. The trek will be revealed on the program this Sunday as the final seven contestants take the stage for a Prince-themed night.
The tour will be the first under Disney’s watch and will feature a label act as openers: “Boy Band” winners In Real Life. According to a source, venues booked are small to medium-sized theaters. The tour is slated to run at least eight weeks and kick off on July 1. Word is a former “Idol” finalist will be hosting the show.
The previous “Idol” graduating class to tour was 2015’s season 14, which featured winner Nick Fradiani. Although finalists had been performing on a tour since the show launched on Fox in 2002, the last trek saw production cutbacks (like the disappearance of a live band) and date cancellations as the series began losing steam.

Nick Carter’s Dancing With the Stars partner, Sharna Burgess, has defended the Backstreet Boy after he was accused of rape by former Dream singer, Melissa Schuman.
In an essay posted on her blog earlier this month, Schuman alleged Carter sexually assaulted her during a visit to his house when she was 18 and he was 22. In a statement issued to Et, the 37-year-old boy bander said he was “shocked and saddened” by the accusations and that Schuman did not express that their actions were non-consensual.
In videos posted on Twitter on Saturday, Burgess praised Carter's character, noting that she was not victim shaming Schuman, but simply wished to share positivity about “one of the most respectful guys that I have ever danced with on the show.”
After describing Carter as “sweet and understanding,” Burgess -- whose partnership with the singer and actor saw them place second on season 21 of the ABC competition series -- pointed out how the...

Picking the best songs from “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” is like going to an all-you-can-eat buffet catered by a Michelin-star chef. So as the series gears up for a third season in the greater reaches of West Covina, we thought it was time not to rank every song worst to best, but to pick out the musical apex for each character on the show. “I think for this generation, obviously the band that we all look up to is One Direction,” Conor tells People Now of the group’s music inspiration.
“They were the biggest,” continues Conor. “They were known globally and they sold so many records and I think that their impact on this generation is something that we admire and we want to emulate with our music.

"At least its gluten free pasta lol," Carter, 37, captioned the sweet snapshot of his son, who was appropriately dressed in a shark shirt with the words "Feeding Time."
The singer and his wife, fitness trainer Lauren Kitt, welcomed baby Odin in April 2016, six months after finding out they were expecting a boy live on-air during Dancing With the Stars, while Carter was competing.

In the 2010-11 season of The X Factor on ITV in UK, the judges didn't select Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson as solo competitors. Instead, they put them together as a group, which would go on to become the worldwide pop sensation, One Direction. Now, ABC has launched an entire show around that concept. Can they bottle lightning and draw big ratings? Will the Boy Band TV show be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. An ABC competitive reality TV series, Boy Band features still undiscovered singers facing off to become part of the next music phenomenon. British singer-songwriter Rita Ora hosts the show, with Tim Mosley (a.k.a. Timbaland), Nick Carter, and Emma Bunton serving as architects, and Alan Blackstone as musical director. Just 30 contestants are selected to compete for one of 18 spots...

NBC and ABC scheduled a number of summer premieres against each other on Thursday. Ultimately, NBC won that battle, though it was Fox that topped primetime ratings in the key 18-49 demographic, and CBS which landed the most total viewers. For ABC, “Boy Band” began quite soft, though “The Gong Show” at 10 did better. For NBC, “The Wall” outdid its lead-in “Hollywood Game Night.” Unfortunately, “The Night Shift” didn’t benefit much from that boost. Fox was first in ratings with a 0.9 rating/4 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, but fourth in total viewers with an average of 3 million,...

Host Rita Ora welcomed 30 of the best young male vocalists in the country to Hollywood, where they auditioned before music icons Emma Bunton of the Spice Girls, Nick Carter of The Backstreet Boys and music producer Timbaland.

Nick Carter is more self-aware than you think, and the Backstreet Boy’s comfort level in his own skin will become apparent pretty early on in ABC’s “Boy Band” reality competition. On Thursday’s series premiere, for starters, show “Architect” Carter happily choreographs the dance from “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” for a couple of the guys. There’s no way that would have happened a decade ago. “I was going through it at a young age, kind of having an identity crisis,” Carter told TheWrap of some public struggles that spanned his late teens and 20s. “Now that I...
