John Farries who plays Mr Birling had such difficulty with learning his lines that in almost every reverse shot where he is off screen or has his back to the camera, he was holding his script and reading lines.
On the first day of filming the crew did not wrap until 10:30pm. this was due to a succession of delays which meant filming didn't even start until 2 in the afternoon.
The final day of filming also wrapped after 10:30pm due to a long list of essential pick ups that needed to be filmed.
The film was shot almost entirely backwards, with the first day of filming actually capturing the final scene of the film. The final two days of shooting were dedicated to pick up shots and corrections.
Thomas Murphy functioned as a live editor on set, this meant he was responsible for looking through footage for any mistakes or pick ups that were required. Murphy sat for hours on end in a smaller room just off of set consistently working through previous days footage.
The entire film was shot in 4K on an Arri Alexa Mini.
