Since my father and his family grew up in coastal Maine, this show brings back memories of past experiences. The cast is ideal, hard working and personable, good folks that you would enjoy get to knowing. Certainly a favorite of mine, look forward to each airing.

Love this show

I started watching this show last year. I was browsing through channels on a Sunday afternoon and picked this. After the first episode I was hooked. The builders are very personable and can't beat the location.

What a fun show!

The cast are charming and down to earth. They have a great time renovating old Maine camps, and they do great work, paying attention to all of the personal requests and nuances of the cabin owners. The views are amazing, and I'm inspired to travel to Maine for the first time ever. I can't get enough of this show.

Love this show. Spent many summers in Adirondacks which has cabins just like Maine. Love the crew and the work they do.

So hilarious!

There are no pretentious players on this show! Most of the time, they look like they haven't bathed or combed their hair in weeks, but man oh man are they GOOD! They settle for nothing less than perfection ( or as close as possible), they all have camera time explaining what's going on so there are no "stars." Everyone is a star. What a wonderful show with just really cute, extremely talented artisans. Love it😘

Ashley and doing nothing
lurban-3042325 April 2022
I have to agree with one of the reviews that was posted reference Ashley they are correct all she does is laugh goof around does absolutely nothing and when she does do anything it's one little item that she puts into the homeowners project and wants to take credit for everything he's a pain in the b u t you know what I mean.

Great Series
joette-6778316 May 2020
I absolutely love this show. They are funny and do a great job fixing cabins at a great price. Very down to earth people who give you hope that any place has potential on a tight budget.

Fantastic show!
Father_V7 September 2020
I've seen from episode 1 and this is quite the fun show. The camps (the rest of the US outside of New England calls them cabins) are fun transformations but the real entertainment is the friendships and interactions of the crew. This was even more entertaining in the first two seasons with Lance, just because the guy is so atypical, but everyone is still fun and real. What you see is what you get with these folks. Just watch their YouTube podcast and you can see they're exactly the same in real time as the show. This will be worth your time if you like renovation shows/building shows or you want to see people who are passionate about what they do and like doing it.

Best Reno show
gjhurrell29 May 2021
Down to earth, regular people on this show. They fix the structural issues unlike a lot of reno shows; no putting lipstick on a pig here. Very realistic. I love the interaction between the cast; it's real stuff, especially the brother/sister banter. Just like any family I ever been involved. Hope the show continues for many more years.

True Maine Cultcha

Those who disparage this show, likely have never spent much time with the people of Maine. Tourists don't count. (people from away) This show depicts the spirit and energy of Mainahs. On other fix it shows, the hosts clearly do little. Chip Gaines makes it look like he works but, uh, no. The Maine crew is bigger than you see but they do work and work hard. I wish them the best and if you are ever near Manchester Maine (near Augusta) find their headquarters. Eat, drink, dance and buy some merch have you found their podcast? You will be glad you found it. Fer now, just Google the Maine humor of Tim Sample on YouTube. Enjoy.

Best Home Improvement Show EVER!!!
demmith-448-3868098 October 2020
This show is fantastic! It draws you in. You feel like part of the family because it's so relatable. And the transformations are incredible! If one of the big channels does not pick this show up for Season 6 and beyond, they're not too bright.

Entertaining but requires some fast forwarding
rhu-8486426 March 2021
I'm a sucker for renovation shows and this one is pretty good, but the one negative is Ashley. For whatever reason they shoehorn her appearance into this show, she goofs around, laughs, doesn't do any of the hard work, and takes credit at the reveal "we put up a wall". Oh, you put up a wall, Ashley? No you didn't, the crew did. You can fast forward through most of her scenes if you want to see real renovation work.

Could be better

Warning: Spoilers
Good idea: a "This Old House" for rural old cabins, but the execution insults the viewer with needless bogus "drama" (will this part of the project work, or will the entire building collapse?!), and needless phonied up scenes of congratulations and surprise. No the crew cannot act, but they're going to do it anyway. If you're into building things and learning how they're built, this isn't the show for you. If you're into lame acting scenes and badly scripted amateur comedy bits, you'll love this show.

I guess the This Old House style is too slow for today's couch potato so producers had to juice the show up with corny nonsense.

Fall in love with Maine
cjstott-6645512 August 2022
Love this show, the crew is so skilled and extremely likable, though the true talent for their vision and even decorating taste is Chase. Ryan, Jedi and Dixie are the perfect crew for him. Just this Grandma's opinion.

Love this show..
conradnh13 March 2023
Love this show because they are so down to earth and practical and fun and creative and inspiring.. It's a good wholesome family show and educational.. Basically it's about a small crew of people in Maine who build or rebuild cabins in Maine. They clear the junk out and lift the cabins to level them, replace rot and reinforce structure and enlarge spaces and reimagine them.. And Ashley always brings something custom and or personal to the staging.. like a painting or blanket of their pets or a map of their cabin or other things (whatever is meaningful to the owners) I wish I could hire them myself to work on my cabin in Florida 😅🙂

Not in Northern Maine

I love this show. They are typical Mainers. However, the show takes place in Southern Maine. The intro is deceiving.

Realistic reality!

Love the cast, their attitudes, finished product and personal morals. From a camp that looks in need of demolition, they create a very welcoming place for lots of family memories to be cherished. Well done!

Incoherent puppets
abstephens-8229912 August 2023
Watched every episode upto 8.6. Started off well and controlled most of the crew from camera stupidity. Professional Chase Dixi & Jedi plus all other trades. My beef is the gesticulating duo who can't be clearly heard. Ryan is a site health and safety nightmare. Ashley is a dead fish and waste of time.

Ryan's nail in the coffin was his t-shirts, one had the word 'phish' all over the front. It's Scottish for 'piss'. He course and should never be on a worksite.

Some great work over the years, however stove work ceased. Also noted budget 100k or 30k the same quality was used. How they can say here's your keys and not offer once to anyone an under budget figure.

The show would be better to delete Ryan and wife. Focus back on natural heat sources; codes; highlight more the sponsorships as there are many.

Not scripted like other fixer-uppers
chughett573 December 2023
I love this show. Chase, Dixie, and Jedi are the best on the show. Ashley gets on my nerves half the time. She acts like she's the boss whereas she's a worker for her brother who owns the business just like everybody else. She doesn't show her brother any respect, so why should she expect respect? She calls him names. I've yet to hear him call her names. If she was a regular worker, she would have been fired. And just like they say on the show she's the last one to show up in the first one to leave. And then she takes credit for just about everything at the end of the show. I think the other workers should get the opportunity of doing the reveal with Chase.

Enjoy this show
ctmohr1 February 2024
My husband and I really enjoythe show, we always look forward to it. We love the banter and the way everyone works so well together. They are all so nice and you can tell they have been friends all their lives. I am rating this a 10 because we look forward to this show weekly, but Ashley's paint choices drive us crazy. We cringe every time they open up a can of paint. Ha ha And my husband gets concerned when he sees them wearing croc shoes, no safety glasses, no gloves, etc.

We know nothing about cabins, but we always wish the cabin owners would want a staircase instead of a ladder to get to the second level. Ladder slats that are round instead of flat are so unsafe. I realize everyone has a budget, but sometimes we think if they would've just spent a few more thousand dollars, they could get a staircase or insulation or a bigger deck, etc. Ha ha but those are everyone's design choices. I'm sure there are behind-the-scenes conversations with the owners while they are building it, since they're always seems to be a question.

But..... Love the show.

Fast forward through Ashley and reveals
rssutor4 August 2023
I have no problem with Ashley and how she relates to the others on the show. My primary complaint is her poor design choices. How many cabins can be shades of blue? How much crap can she fabricate that anyone would want to live with? She loves to refer to her "team." If they had 10% of the men and women construction experts on the show, they might offer some value. The reveals, like many such shows, are a long series of "Oh my God"s and "I can't believe it!"s and "Is this OURS?!?!?"s. Skip them - they are predictable and make the owners look silly. The construction techniques are interesting but I couldn't sit through some of the shows, such as the one featuring LARPers.

Unwatchable
mdkenney-9566418 August 2022
This show is unwatchable! All the players are creepy and crabby, and the projects are uninteresting. Other than that, it's perfect! Urgh. Watching it made me feel very uncomfortable, especially how they treat women.

Common sense doesn't exist with that group. Obvious solutions are out of reach with them.
