These days, it’s rare to hear something cool about programming on the Netflix streaming service that involves older films rather than the next batch of “Netflix Original Films” they have in the works – but here’s something very cool: Netflix has announced that they’re teaming up with the New York Film Critics Circle to launch a screening series called Hitch! The Original Cinema Influencer at the Paris Theater, which is the longest-running arthouse cinema in New York City and is also Manhattan’s only remaining single-screen cinema, as well as the borough’s largest movie theater, with 535 seats. If you can’t make it to the Paris Theater for the screenings, you’ll be glad to hear that a collection of classic Hitchcock films will also be available to stream on Netflix as of June 1st.

Netflix is expanding its U.S. streaming library in June with a collection of films by Alfred Hitchcock, including The Birds, Vertigo, Rear Window, Family Plot, Frenzy, and The Man Who Knew Too Much. The lineup joins Psycho, which is already available on the service.
The platform will also present a six-week film series titled “Hitch! The Original Cinema Influencer” at the Paris Theater in New York City. The retrospective, running from May 16 through June 29, will include more than 50 films, 36 of which were directed by Hitchcock. Thirty-five of those titles will be screened in 35mm prints. The program is co-presented by the New York Film Critics Circle.
Screenings will include Rear Window, Vertigo, and North by Northwest, along with films that draw on Hitchcock’s style, such as François Truffaut’s The Bride Wore Black and Henri-Georges Clouzot’s Diabolique. Also featured is Hitchcock, the 2012 biopic directed by Sacha Gervasi.

Jordan Peele’s love for the strange and the supernatural has always been loud and clear, and with The Twilight Zone reboot, he got to play host to a modern version of the legendary 1959 series he grew up admiring. Much like Rod Serling did back in the day, Peele used the format to peel back the layers of society’s darkest corners, mixing horror with moral dilemmas and mind games. Though the revival didn’t stick around as long as fans might have hoped, it packed a punch in its short run and offered a platform for some solid talent.
The anthology came and went, but the faces from the series have moved on to pretty interesting chapters in 2025. From high-stakes dramas to animated franchises, here’s what the key cast members are busy with now.

Alfred Hitchcock enjoyed making his audiences suffer, and now that uneasy feeling is coming to Netflix in large doses. The streamer said today that it will add several of the horror-suspense master’s best loved films, including The Birds, Vertigo, Rear Window, his final film Family Plot and more.
They join the filmmaker’s beloved and dreaded masterpiece Psycho, which is streaming now on Netflix.
Also headed to the service are Frenzy, The Man Who Knew Too Much and others, along with Hitchcock, a narrative feature about the legend directed by Sacha Gervasi. The new online collection also features films inspired by Hitchcock’s mastery such as Us and Barbarian.
Also on the horizon is “Hitch! The Original Cinema Influencer,” a six-week screening series at the 90-year-old Paris Theatre in Manhattan featuring more than 50 films including three dozen by Hitchcock. Many will be shown in 35mm, including Hitchcock’s Rear Window,...

Get ready to scream: Netflix is bringing a collection of Alfred Hitchcock films to the streaming service this June — and, despite chief Ted Sarandos’ belief that the movie-theater biz is “outdated,” the company will showcase the legendary filmmaker’s work at its Paris Theater in New York City in a six-week series.
Starting June 1, a collection of classic Hitchcock films will be available to stream in the U.S. Those will include “Vertigo,” “Rear Window,” “Frenzy,” “The Man Who Knew Too Much,” “Family Plot” and “The Birds.” Currently, U.S. customers can stream Hitchcock’s genre-defining masterpiece “Psycho,” now available on Netflix in the country.
In addition, Netflix’s Hitchcock collection will include films inspired by the British-born director, such as Jordan Peele’s “Us” and Zach Cregger’s “Barbarian,” as well as narrative feature “Hitchcock” directed by Sacha Gervasi.

Sandfall Interactive just can’t stop winning, huh? Within a week of releasing their reactive RPG, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, has gained a lot of attention. It’s possible Sandfall Interactive was sure about being a hit, as a live adaptation of the game was greenlit before release.
As of 2025, stories from games are getting highlighted in mainstream media. Recent ones being Devil May Cry and The Last of Us Part 2. While both these stories are well known and have gained a massive audience over the years, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 only took a week.
While it has been confirmed that a live adaptation is in the works, fans are going crazy over who should be cast to showcase the masterpiece. It’s for sure nobody wants a Last of Us situation repeated.

One of the most salient shortcomings of Netflix as a streaming service is that its film library at any given moment is frustratingly devoid of movies made before 1980. In the streamer's defense, their focus since 2013 (when they hit binge-viewing paydirt with "House of Cards") has been on generating a raft of original programming in order to cut back their need to license classic television shows and films they do not own. Additionally, the success of streaming services like The Criterion Channel and Tubi, which cater to cinephiles with an array of pre-1980 movies, suggests that this market has already voted with its dollars. This is somewhat understandable, but it also does a huge disservice to young film fans who, for example, might fall so hard for Mike Flannagan's "The Haunting of Hill House" that they desperately need to see Robert Wise's much-lauded 1963 take on Shirley Jackson's horror novel.

Netflix is making it the summer of Alfred Hitchcock in New York. The streaming giant will bring 36 Hitchcock films to its Paris Theater in New York, as well as a dozen more features connected to the director — from those he influenced (Robert Zemeckis’s What Lies Beneath) to those which influenced him (Fritz Lang’s M).
The series — Hitch! The Original Cinema Influencer — will run from May 16 to June 29 at the Paris Theater, which Netflix purchased in 2019. The films range from Hitchcock’s early works such as Blackmail to enduring hits such as Psycho and The Birds.
Thirty five of the films will play on 35 mm, including Birds, The Man Who Knew Too Much, North By Northwest, Rear Window and Vertigo. The New York Film Critics Circle is co-presenting the series.

Spoiler Alert !!!Spoiler warning for The Last of Us Season 2 Episode 3
Joel’s death came as a punch in the gut, even though many of us already expected it, and in the wake of an emotionally charged episode came a mellow, slow-paced chapter where the characters were given enough time to grieve. It’s a highly divisive episode, frankly speaking, because it took its time while many were waiting for the next series of action.
For the creators of the show, this was a clear favorite. While some of the audience found it long-winded and heavy on set-up, co-showrunner and game director Neil Druckmann was extremely happy with its direction.

Well, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t see the heart-wrenching tragedy coming. The brutal death of Joel in The Last of Us Season 2, Episode 2, is nothing short of a hard-hitting, tear-jerking moment for those familiar with the game. But…what made it even more painful was that, despite knowing it was coming, it still felt like a sledgehammer to the heart.
When you embark on a journey with a character, you hope for growth, victories, and moments of solace. However, in The Last of Us universe, those precious moments of respite are few and far between, and Episode 3, The Path, shoves us face-first into the cold, cruel reality of grief. After the soul-shattering death of Joel, this episode sinks its claws into our hearts with no intent of letting go.
I repeat, I knew it was coming, but the brutality of it still left me gasping for air.

Sinners is the kind of film that arrives like a thunderclap: audacious, bloody, and brimming with style. Ryan Coogler, reuniting with Michael B. Jordan for their most ambitious collaboration yet, fuses period noir, supernatural horror, and musical fable into a rich, genre-fluid tapestry that’s as intellectually rigorous as it is downright entertaining.
Set in 1930s Mississippi, but filmed with a mischievous modern eye, Sinners follows the return of the Smokestack twins – Smoke and Stack Moore, both played with chameleonic confidence by Jordan – to their racially segregated hometown with a dream: to open a Black-owned juke joint in an abandoned sawmill. Naturally, things don’t go according to plan. The land is cursed, the locals are wary, and, oh yeah… there are vampires. And not the sparkly kind.
What’s most remarkable here isn’t the premise, Coogler has always had a knack for turning the familiar inside out, but the sheer confidence of execution.

Oh boy! Hollywood’s favorite bromance just took a very unexpected turn. While dodging legal drama like bullets—thanks to that jaw-dropping $400M lawsuit against him and his wife, Blake Lively—Ryan Reynolds casually dropped a bombshell at the Time 100 Summit. He claimed to be planning to stage a full-blown intervention for none other than his bestie, Hugh Jackman.
Yep. While Hugh Jackman is currently dreading a potential deposition in Blake Lively vs. Justin Baldoni (he might soon be called in to testify in this legal circus), Ryan Reynolds seemed more concerned that his pal is overworking himself. Forget guilt—Reynolds appeared, cracking jokes despite being responsible for Jackman’s upcoming misery.

Time flies when you’re not grounded by family dinners and moral monologues, huh? It’s been nearly 30 years since 7th Heaven first graced our boxy TVs, teaching us lessons one Bible verse at a time. Back then, the Camden crew was tighter than a lid on a pickle jar. We’re talkin’ about the days when buffering meant go make a sandwich, and moral lessons were delivered weekly with a side of family drama.
But life, as they say, isn’t always sunshine and sermonettes. Now here we are, nearly three decades deep since that 1996 premiere, and the cast has long since flown the coop. All doing their own thing, some soaring, some sailing, some just staying under the radar like that one friend who never posts on Instagram.
Life has thrown the cast into very different storms, and let us tell you, some umbrellas held better than others.

Just two days after an already impressive opening weekend performance, Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” might already be moving the goal posts for just how high it can climb at the box office. The industry has been oddly obsessed with whether this $90 million movie will be “profitable” so early in its box office run (for… reasons), but you have to feel good about the legs this movie most certainly has.
We’re not usually one to track daily box office numbers the way our sister trade publications would, but “Sinners” on Tuesday, April 22, just its fifth day in theaters, made another $8.6 million at the domestic box office. It made $7.8 million on Monday, taking its domestic haul to $64.4 million.
Both of those early week takes are more than the film made in preview showings on Thursday ($4.7 million). When you consider too that Tuesday screenings are generally discounted at most movie theaters, that...

Bella Ramsey has captivated audiences with their performance as Ellie in The Last of Us, and they've also made waves offscreen with their identity as a non-binary, autistic actor. Now, they've become only the second non-binary person to get a statue from world-famous waxwork masker Madame Tussauds.
Ramsey underwent the process of being measured for the figure last year, and they described it as "an honor" in a press statement released to the BBC. Exclusive: Monkeypaw Productions, the production company of Oscar-winning genre maestro Jordan Peele, has undergone layoffs within its development department, multiple sources tell Deadline.
The layoffs have affected Christopher Rosati, Jamal M. Watson and Alex Kim, the company’s three Vice Presidents of Development and Production, as well as four to five junior staffers at the coordinator and assistant levels.
Word of layoffs at Monkeypaw comes ahead of the release of the company’s football-themed horror film Him, one of the most anticipated genre titles of the year, from director Justin Tipping. Aside from economic realities facing the entire industry in this moment, in a time of contraction, the reasoning behind the cuts hasn’t been made clear. Chatter about the company was widespread yesterday, with industry observers expecting that overhead at Monkeypaw had come down following a renegotiation of its overall deal with Universal Studio Group.

As we previously reported, Vanderpump Rules will be soon return to Bravo with a brand new cast.
And not surprisingly, the show’s previous stars are not thrilled about the change in personnel.
In fact, Vanderpump Og Katie Maloney has come out swinging against the reboot, blasting her old Bravo bosses for what she claims is a “cheap” attempt at cashing in on the popularity of the original cast.

Ryan Coogler thanked his fans for supporting “Sinners” over its opening weekend, as it made history Monday as the biggest box office debut for an original film since Jordan Peele’s “Us” in 2019.
“Eternal Gratitude. My heart is bursting with it. I want to thank each and every one of you who bought a ticket to see ‘Sinners.’ Who decided to drive to see the film in different formats. Who bought popcorn and a drink, booked a sitter and carpooled, and stood in the lobby afterwards and talked and made a friend,” Coogler said in a thank you letter to fans obtained by TheWrap. “I want to thank you all who watched more than once, who recommended the film to others, both in person and on social media or on your text message chains.”

Ryan Coogler’s period horror movie, Sinners, continues to perform well at the box office after its April 18, 2025, U.S. theatrical release. Starring Michael B. Jordan(Creed) in a double role, the film has pulled in an impressive $55.8 million in the U.S. and an additional $75.5 million globally. Sinners earned a record-breaking $7.8 million on its first Monday, which marks the second-highest Monday for an R-rated film, just behind It (2017).
After its premiere, Sinners surpassed World War Z’s Monday earnings of 7.6 million and outperformed Warner Bros.’ Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’s $6.2 million after a $111 million opening. The film’s strong start highlights its widespread appeal, especially with premium format screens and IMAX making up for 45% of its $48 million opening weekend collection. The exact split comes down to 19% for IMAX and 22% for Plfs.

It was quite a shock when Garcelle Beauvais walked off the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Reunion set and never looked back. She had had enough and quit the show. The whole Bravo universe is weighing in, including former Rhobh Lisa Vanderpump.
History Repeated
Lisa left Rhobh in 2019, and the circumstances weren’t that different from Garcelle’s recent departure. Many players are the same, including Kyle Richards, Erika Jayne, and Dorit Kemsley. The scandal, involving a dog adopted by Dorit, became known as “Puppy Gate.” The other ladies took Dorit’s side and basically iced out Lvp. The scandal culminated when Lisa asked her former Bff, Kyle, to leave her home, and her husband, Ken, yelled the famous “Goodbye Kyle” as she left Villa Rosa. The Vanderpump Rules star never returned to Rhobh.

Ryan Coogler's R-rated vampire horror movie Sinnerstopped the box office in its opening weekend in theaters and received widespread acclaim. The biggest sin of all appeared to be the critical headlines that emerged in its wake. One such example is a recent report from Variety claiming that even with the film's $61 million global debut, "profitability remains a ways away." The outlet reiterated the statement in an X/Twitter post that has since gone viral after garnering backlash from social media users quizzing the overly critical take. Among them was actor-director Ben Stiller.
Stiller shared the scathing statement from Variety regarding the box office performance of the supernatural thriller starring Michael B. Jordan and Hailee Steinfeld, and hit back in a post that has since received over 331K likes (seen below): "In what universe does a 60 million dollar opening for an original studio movie warrant this headline?" Warner Bros.’ Sinners has exceeded early expectations with a four-day Easter weekend total nearing $55 million, driven by audience response and an unusually broad campaign strategy. The film, directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan in dual roles, was originally projected to open in the mid-$30 million range, with tracking remaining modest until just before release.
The first trailer, released in September, generated limited attention, prompting industry speculation about the risks tied to a $90 million production. The trailer leaned on its premise—Jordan portraying twin brothers—and its horror setting, without revealing the film’s full direction. Later marketing materials withheld key story elements, such as the supernatural component, until a second trailer arrived during NFL playoff coverage in January. That reveal was timed to reach a wide audience, with more than 50 million viewers watching the AFC Championship.

Seriously, stop reading this right now if you haven't watched "Through the Valley," the second episode of season 2 of "The Last of Us." Spoilers lie ahead. You've been warned!
Anyone who watched "Through the Valley," the landmark episode of "The Last of Us" — HBO's adaptation of Naughty Dog's universally acclaimed game series — is likely still reeling from the major event that happens at the end of the installment. Just like in the 2020 video game sequel "The Last of Us Part II," Abby (Kaitlyn Dever), whose father was a victim of Joel's (Pedro Pascal) murderous rampage through a rebel Firefly hospital at the end of the show's first season, brutally murders the man she's been hunting for years.
Entertainment Weekly's Nick Romano spent time on set while this episode was being made, and when he spoke to showrunner Craig Mazin, who helms the series with Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann,...

It's somewhat rare for a horror movie to be treated like a must-see cinematic event on the level of an "Avengers" film. We're talking about the likes of 2017's "It" and Jordan Peele's "Us," i.e. the biggest of big that the genre has to offer. Ryan Coogler, the filmmaker behind "Black Panther" and "Creed," has now managed to position his new vampire movie "Sinners" as one of these blockbuster-level cinematic events, and with good reason. Indeed, "Sinners" is one of the most acclaimed films of 2025 overall thus far.
Given the sheer impact that "Sinners" has had, particularly after its blockbuster box office debut, it perhaps seems fitting that the king of the modern blockbuster, Christopher Nolan, was given a "special thanks" shout-out in the movie's credits. But why, exactly, did Coogler thank the "Dark Knight" and "Oppenheimer" director? That's a good question. Put simply, Nolan helped Coogler get...

Maybe it’s because it was Easter weekend or perhaps people are on edge that Pope Francis died the day after a bunch of people went to see a movie called “Sinners” on a holy holiday, but Ryan Coogler’s original horror film can’t quite catch a break, at least in some spaces.
After staring down weeks of headlines that his movie — a genre-bending period horror film being released in April (not typically viewed as the place for a box office bonanza) and not based on existing IP (what a concept!) — was risky for both Coogler as a director and Warner Bros. as a studio, we seemingly can’t go a day without someone putting an asterisk on its success.
Online critics of the box office coverage of “Sinners” implied that the media was spinning its opening weekend take in unfair ways. On X (formerly Twitter), Ben Stiller was...

Put your flamethrower down if you haven't watched "Through the Valley," the latest episode to date of "The Last of Us." Spoilers incoming!
Something really big happened on "Through the Valley," the second episode of the sophomore season of HBO's massively popular series "The Last of Us" (based on the video game of the same name by Naughty Dog). I'm actually not talking about Joel Miller, the show's ostensible hero and one of the Internet's favorite dads played by Pedro Pascal, getting his head bashed in by Abby (Kaitlyn Dever). I'm talking about the assault on the survivor's stronghold in Jackson, Wyoming, where a huge, disgusting army of infected cordyceps zombies storms the town's ramparts.
Notably, this sequence is not in the video game, which does make sense. At this point in the game, the story focuses entirely on Joel's death, Abby's vengeance, and Ellie's (Bella Ramsey in the series) promise of retribution.

At the young age of just 11 years old, Bella Ramsey stepped onto the set of Game of Thrones and won everyone over as Lyanna Mormont. Despite appearing in just a handful of episodes, they left a lasting impression. Since then, Ramsey has continued to build a reputation as an actor who’s not afraid to tackle emotionally complex roles – the most recent of which is their role as Ellie in The Last of Us.
Just like their on-screen persona, Ramsey is also candid off-screen. In an interview, they shared an interesting moment from The Last of Us. Here, they revealed that someone casually assumed that they were autistic.
How did a simple question change Bella Ramsey’s life?
When The Last of Us announced its casting, fans had very mixed feelings about Bella Ramsey as Ellie. For them, they felt nothing like the video game character, from their features to their appearance.

Let there be no doubt: Ryan Coogler's "Sinners" is a critical and commercial smash. The wildly inventive horror film currently holds a 98% Fresh rating at review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, and grossed an impressive $45.6 million at the domestic box office during its first weekend of release — that's the biggest opening for an original movie since Jordan Peele's "Us" took in $71 million in the pre-pandemic year of 2019.
And yet "Sinners" most remarkable achievement thus far might be the A grade it received from moviegoers polled by CinemaScore. This is a terrific rating for any movie, one that augurs well for its box office performance going forward. But it's especially notable because no horror film in the 46-year history of the market research company has ever scored higher than an A-. In other words, as far as 2025 moviegoers are concerned, "Sinners" is the best horror movie of just about the last half-century.

Ryan Coogler just delivered the best movie of 2025 so far with the vampire action film Sinners. The filmmaker came back to original filmmaking after dabbling in franchises such as Creed and Black Panther, joined by his frequent collaborator Michael B. Jordan. The film is set in 1930s Mississippi and has been lauded for its concept and performances.
Coogler has steadily risen to be one of the most exciting filmmakers of the current age. His deal with Warner Bros., where he received full ownership of the film after a few years, was unheard of and could only be possible due to his immense talent. The video game adaptation continued to attract ticket sales across the school holiday frame, with overseas revenue dipping just 28% from the prior weekend. The UK remains the top-performing foreign territory, with a total of $59.2 million. Germany has reached $27.8 million, followed by Australia ($27.4 million), Mexico ($24.8 million), and China ($24 million). South Korea and Japan are still to release.
In China, where domestic productions dominate current box office rankings, A Minecraft Movie remains the only U.S. title in the top five, trailing Ne Zha 2 at $2.1 billion. Chinese regulators have announced plans to limit the number of Hollywood titles granted release, though no specifics have been disclosed.

Updated: “Sinners,” an original, R-rated vampire thriller from director Ryan Coogler and star Michael B. Jordan, topped the box office in its opening weekend despite steep competition from “A Minecraft Movie.”
Boosted by stellar reviews and Coogler and Jordan’s popularity, “Sinners” collected $48 million from 3,308 North American theaters, outperforming Sunday’s initial estimates of $45.6 million. Those ticket sales mark the biggest debut for an original film since Jordan Peele’s “Us” opened to $71 million in 2019. But Warner Bros. spent a staggering $90 million to produce “Sinners” (before factoring in global marketing expenses), so profitability remains a question mark.
At the international box office, “Sinners” added another $15.4 million for a global tally of $63.5 million.

Warning: This article contains major spoilers for "Sinners."
Nobody's doing what Jordan Peele and Ryan Coogler are doing in genre films these days — and that goes for Peele and Coogler themselves, too. Despite some similarly recurring themes and generally shared interests, not even the most casual of moviegoers could mistake them as the exact same kind of filmmaker. The former burst onto the scene with one extremely ambitious original after another, becoming a brand name all to himself overnight. The latter has spent the last decade surviving and thriving within the studio system after debuting with a Sundance hit, elevating each production with a level of craft and passion that blockbusters so rarely receive. These are two very different storytellers doing very different things, and it'd be foolish for anyone to conflate their abilities for the most superficial of reasons.
That's not to say their work can't exist in a dialogue with one another,...

Greatness demands sacrifice, and sometimes we make Faustian pacts with the devil. That’s the premise of “Him,” a unique sports-focused horror film from producer and Oscar-winner Jordan Peele, comedian/actor Marlon Wayans, and Peele’s Monkeypaw production company that focuses on films that terrify audiences.

WWE has been bringing in talent from the outside entertainment world into their landscape for years. In recent memory, many of those stars have been doing extended stints as in-ring performers for the company and have proven their worth to stand toe-to-toe with the talented athletes on the roster.
Two of the biggest names in the modern era of WWE are Bad Bunny and Logan Paul. Despite both being part-time attractions, WWE Universe has had more inclination and love for Bad Bunny and much hate for Logan Paul. However, when going deep into the subject, there are many reasons for fans treating both part-timers differently.

Hello, few readers who join me!
I’m trying to find what works for SurrealEstate. My thoughts don’t seem to be sparking any conversations, so I’m going the recap route.
I’ll add a few tempered thoughts, but overall, it’s just a rundown of the show that aired. Maybe I’ll see something you missed.
(Albert Camicioli/SE3 Productions Inc./Syfy)
Not every show gets a lot of love, but we’re still open to covering them. If you made it this far, you probably care too. Drop a note, hit share, and keep rooting for the little guys — us and the show.
And if you’re feeling really generous, maybe even whitelist us in your ad blocker — no pressure, just appreciation as we try to find the best avenues of coverage for shows big and small.

For a minute there, it didn’t seem like anyone was going to make it out of The Wheel of Time finale alive. There’s been like ten significant deaths between this and the last episode.
This was quite the epic ending to a rather incredible season of the Amazon series. It was pulse-pounding from start to finish with stunning visuals.
The Wheel of Time had us at the edge of our seats, and for good reason. If you’re like this TV Fanatic, you’re still processing Siuan Sanche’s fate.
(Prime Video/Screenshot)
That scene had me clutching my pearls while breathing the gayest gasp you’ve ever heard.
But nothing compares to what happened right after with Moiraine. I think there was literal fire in her eyes.

Reading Time: 3 minutes
Blake Lively might be having a tumultuous year.
But there have been plenty of ups to go with the downs, as Time magazine just honored Blake with a spot on its annual list of the 100 most influential people.
Yes, amid Lively’s headline-making legal battle with Justin Baldoni, the actress earned a spot on the iconic list for the very first time.

Blake was included in the “Titans” segment of the list, placing her alongside such notable names as like Serena Williams, Lorne Michaels, Simone Biles, and Mark Zuckerberg.
She was nominated by civil rights attorney Sherrilyn Ifill who sang Blake’s praises in a heartfelt essay.
“I don’t know the Blake Lively of the red carpet.
