It's no secret that the first third of 2024 has been at best uneven as far as the box office goes. Ticket sales are lagging way behind this same point in 2023, in no small part thanks to movies like "Abigail" and "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare" underperforming on the same weekend. Thankfully, the summer movie season is on the horizon and Hollywood, as well as theater owners, will hinge their hopes on a varied slate being able to sell an outsized number of tickets. That all begins next weekend with the release of Universal's "The Fall Guy." The question is, can Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt strike gold in the summer season once again after last year's Barbenheimer phenomenon?
"The Fall Guy" will be the first blockbuster to hit theaters in May, which typically ushers in the summer for Hollywood. Currently, the big-budget action/comedy is looking at an opening weekend in the $40 million range,...

In a scene early in The Fall Guy, a nameless crewmember buckles Ryan Gosling’s seat belt as his character is about to attempt a cannon roll, a classic car stunt, on the set of a fictional science fiction movie called Metal Storm. Gosling plays Hollywood stuntman Colt Seavers, who is reluctantly returning to the film business after an injury, but in many ways the real star of the scene is the background actor buckling him in, Logan Holladay. Though his screen time lasts only a few moments, Holladay was the real-life stunt driver for Gosling — the one who actually steered a Jeep Grand Cherokee down a Sydney beach and rolled it eight and a half times on the sand, breaking the Guinness world record of seven rolls set by Adam Kirley, the driver of James Bond’s Aston Martin in 2006’s Casino Royale.

Following his loss at WrestleMania Xl, Roman Reigns has reportedly taken a hiatus from the wrestling realm, and it seems that the former Universal Champion is now taking a step toward the silver screen glory. While he’s no stranger to making an impact on film, Reigns seems poised to make an even bigger splash with an undisclosed role in the upcoming film Good Fortune.

Roman Reigns has been a tremendous force in the WWE for years, but his latest move has fans speculating about his future in the wrestling world. After his loss at WrestleMania 40, his viral picture floated on social media, in which he looked dapper and Hollywood-ready. Could this be a sign that the Big Dog is prepared to put his skills on the silver screen?
Although it is unclear when Reigns, 38, will step back into the ring, the Tribal Chief is said to be keeping himself occupied by working on a major new film project. It is no secret that a number of professional wrestlers have made a successful transition into the entertainment industry; two such examples are Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and John Cena.

Being the current representative of the Hollywood action hero community, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has always stayed an arm’s length away from the villainous WWE persona that gave him his first taste of recognition and fame. But after a lengthy sabbatical and a worse-for-wear stretch in Hollywood, his eventual return to the ring was perhaps inevitable, and as such, one of the lesser brow-raising points of his career.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the Final Boss [Credit: WWE]What did however seduce an already fascinated audience was the former People’s Champion’s resurrection as a heel, his readiness to brutality, and the sheer perverse enjoyment that he has (seemingly) derived from it. The Rock’s new persona, if not anything else, only proves how severely Hollywood messed up by exiling his evil façade in favor of a generic burly everyman hero obsessed with one-man rescue missions through tsunamis and earthquakes.

John Cena offered the tiniest glimmer of insight into the long-running feud between Vin Diesel and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson that shook the Fast and Furious franchise.

That was basically a way of getting to the real matter at hand — Diesel v. Johnson — with Shepard asking about the rumors that the two made for a “rough pairing.”

Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel’s longstanding “Fast & Furious” feud came to an official end last year when Johnson shocked fans by popping up as the beloved Luke Hobbs in a “Fast X” mid-credits scene. Diesel had extended an invitation to Johnson in November 2021 to join “Fast X,” but Johnson said the following month that “I would not be returning to the franchise.” That turned out to be a bluff.
The duo’s “Fast & Furious” co-star John Cena recently appeared on the “Armchair Expert” podcast (via People) and was asked by host Dax Shepard about the rumors concerning Johnson and Diesel’s on-set tussle. The host said “that was a rough pairing.”
“There’s certainly rumors about that. I can’t deny that,” Cena said. “You have two very alpha, driven people. You get two, there can only be one.”

The Screen Actors Guild and Directors Guild of America have approved the first-ever credit of “stunt designer.”
The title will be used on the upcoming release “The Fall Guy” with veteran stunt coordinator, second unit director and president of Stunts Unlimited Chris O’Hara set to receive the inaugural film credit.
O’Hara’s position as a production head on set is traditionally titled “stunt coordinator.” It is an official Screen Actors Guild credit also recognized by the Directors Guild of America. The addition of the “stunt designer” title better encompasses the multifaceted nature of the profession.
The title was championed by 87North, the production company led by director David Leitch and producer Kelly McCormick.

Buckle up because Universal Pictures has released a brand new trailer for "The Fall Guy." With a pair of huge stars in Ryan Gosling ("Barbie") and Emily Blunt ("Oppenheimer) at its center — both of whom are coming off of Oscars nominations for their work on two of 2023's biggest movies — this flick has summer blockbuster written all over it. A reboot of largely forgotten IP, a director who knows his way around action, and a couple of very charming stars? It's all here. Check out the trailer for yourself above.
Lots of action and lots of comedy at play here. David Leitch, whose previous credits include "Bullet Train" and "Deadpool 2," seems to be very much at home with the material, especially since he was a stuntman before becoming an A-list director. It looks, in a word, fun. That's because, for my money, it is a great deal of fun.

Eiza González is opening up about her experience as a Latin woman in Hollywood and how preconceived notions have made booking roles a challenge.

Over the last ten years, former stuntman David Leitch has directed such films as Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, Hobbs & Shaw, Bullet Train, and the upcoming The Fall Guy. While he keeps busy directing action films, he also produces them, with two Leitch productions being Nobody and Violent Night, both of which were released by Universal Pictures. Talking to Collider, Leitch and fellow producer Kelly McCormick confirmed that Universal is really invested in building Nobody and Violent Night franchises – so Nobody 2 and Violent Night 2 are both heading toward production!

His post-traumatic shame disorder reignites a long-cooled fire within, and he summons a secret lethal skill set for a revenge mission, only to see it backfire spectacularly and put his family in greater jeopardy.

The Fall Guy isn’t just an ode to the daring world of stunt performers; it pushes the boundaries of cinematic action. Recently, Universal Pictures and 87North revealed a record-breaking feat achieved during filming. The movie boasts the highest number of consecutive cannon rolls ever performed in a single stunt.

In a jaw-dropping sequence, Logan Holladay, the stuntman for Ryan Gosling’s character, executed this remarkable feat. Behind the wheel of a modified Jeep Grand Cherokee, Holladay flawlessly executed eight and a half cannon rolls, surpassing the previous record held by Adam Kirley from Casino Royale, which was seven.

It's been several days now since this year's Oscars ceremony, and yet I'm still scratching my head as to why the Academy had Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt present a montage honoring stunts and stunt performers without mentioning why they had selected these two specific actors to do so. Then there's the bitter irony of the Academy celebrating stunt performers while stubbornly refusing to give them an Oscar of their own, but that's a whole other rabbit hole.
While it's true the pair starred in dual halves of Barbenheimer last year, they've also got a new film coming out in "The Fall Guy." Loosely adapted from Glen A. Larson's '80s action-adventure TV series of the same name, the movie casts Gosling as a stuntman who's rapidly aging out of his occupation from years of risking permanent bodily harm, only to find himself unraveling a mystery on the set...

Dwayne Johnson is not only one of the most talented actors in Hollywood but also one of the highest-paid ones. It is known that any franchise or movie starring the actor will be highly entertaining even if it is not a masterpiece like some of his other movies. This is the reason why he has turned out to be one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood.
Over the years, Johnson has gained the reputation of an action star. This persona suits him well, thanks to his buffed-up appearance and wrestling background. He began his acting career when he was still wrestling and started acting in earnest when he was away from WWE with the 2001 movie The Mummy Returns. In all these years, he has managed to accumulate a net worth that could easily make some of the biggest actors jealous.

This past Wednesday Marvel Studios made a very special casting announcement via their social media platforms. It was a gift much sweeter and tasty than any Valentine’s Day candy sampler. And it’s been in the works for nearly five years. That’s when Disney officially purchased Fox Studios, which finally brought one of the most celebrated Marvel Comics into the “fold”. In the years before the 2008 launch of Marvel Studios, some of their characters were licensed out to several different studios. Sony still has Spidey, while Daredevil, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four were then at Fox. Dd was brought back in with the Netflix series (and a new Disney+ Maxi-series soon), and Deadpool & Wolverine will rule this July, all the while fans were clamoring for a “new take” on the “first family” of Marvel. Studio head Kevin Feige has teased it at a couple of Comicon appearances,...

Marvel's first family is coming back to theaters after two mixed-to-horrendous previous attempts. Now, Marvel Studios is hoping that third time's the charm when it comes to the Fantastic Four, and we finally have confirmation of who will don the suits. We already knew that Pedro Pascal had signed on to play Reed Richards — following a brief tease in "Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness" where John Krasinski played an alternate universe version of Mr. Fantastic -- but there were several rumors as to who would play the rest of the family in what's simply titled "The Fantastic 4."
Well, get ready, because Pascal is now officially being joined by Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm. Like all superhero movies, the film's cast is made up of actors who you have undoubtedly seen before in projects both big and small.

David Leitch is no longer headed to Jurassic World. Talks between Universal and the filmmaker have fallen through, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
News that Leitch would direct a new Jurassic movie came to light late last week, when Universal signaled the film was on the fast track by giving it a July 2, 2025, release date. The parting of ways is said to be due to a difference in vision and to be amicable.
THR broke the news last month that Universal was moving ahead with a new Jurassic World film, with Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp back to write after working on Steven Spielberg’s 1993 original and his 1997 follow-up. The plan is to launch a “new Jurassic era,” which suggests characters played by Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will not return. Though it’s based on a 2005 movie of the same name, Prime Video’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith is something that’s increasingly rare these days: an honest-to-goodness TV show. The Donald Glover and Francesca Sloane-created spy thriller understands the required rhythms of its medium very well. Each episode presents a self-contained chapter within the dangerous marriage of John (Glover) and Jane Smith (Maya Erskine) while also subtly forwarding their overall story.
The commitment to the usual TV format also means that Mr. and Mrs. Smith gets to introduce one hell of a roster of guest stars. Save for its finale, every episode of this show features at least one stupendously talented and famous guest star. If you’re wondering who each of these guest stars are or where you’ve previously seen them: don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. What follows is a list of the Mr. and Mrs. Smith cast,...

Jurassic World 4, or Jurassic Park 7, is indeed arriving in 2025 – and Dead Pool 2’s David Leitch is about to sign up to direct it.
It looks as though Universal Pictures is keen to press ahead with its Jurassic World franchise, given that reports are emerging that the studio wants a new film in the series in cinemas by next year.
It emerged late last month that Universal was keen to fast-track the film and had acquired the services of David Koepp – the writer behind the original Jurassic Park and its 1997 sequel, Jurassic Park: The Lost World – to get a screenplay into shape.
Given that we’re now hearing that Universal are looking to secure the services of David Leitch to direct the film, that seems to confirm those stories. Plus, according to The Hollywood Reporter, that summer 2025 date is indeed the target.

Universal Pictures appears to be wasting precisely zero time in getting the "Jurassic World" franchise back up and running again. Even though we only recently learned that original "Jurassic Park" writer David Koepp has been working on a script for a new installment in the franchise, we've now learned that the studio has set a 2025 release date for the film. What's more, they're zeroing in on a big-name director to tackle the project in the form of David Leitch ("John Wick." "Deadpool 2").
According to Deadline, Leitch is in early talks to occupy the director's chair of the upcoming "Jurassic" film, which does not have a title yet but would be the seventh entry in the series overall. Leitch previously worked for Universal on the "Fast & Furious" spin-off "Hobbs & Shaw," which was a big success taking in $760 million at the global box office back in 2019. While Leitch has not yet signed on,...

Universal Pictures will release an all new “Jurassic World” event film on July 2, 2025, the studio announced on Monday.
David Koepp will write the screenplay, which is said to launch a new storyline. “The Fall Guy” director David Leitch is in very early talks to direct the next installment of the franchise.
While plot details are scarce, insiders say that the film will start a new storyline separate from the trilogy of “Jurassic World” films that starred Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard and saw the eventual inclusion of “Jurassic Park” stars Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and B.D. Wong.
The Jurassic film franchise has proven remarkably resilient at the box office, so it is unsurprising that Universal wants to continue the series. Though box office returns have declined with each new “Jurassic World” installment, all three movies – 2015’s “Jurassic World,” 2018’s “Fallen Kingdom,” and 2022’s “Dominion” – managed to surpass $1 billion globally.

Mark your calendar for Wednesday July 2, 2025 for the new Jurassic World movie, which is a reboot.
As Deadline’s Dish just reported, the next installment is looking to be directed by David Leitch off David Koepp’s screenplay. The movie will center around a new Jurassic era sans the franchise’s previous actors over the course of its 31 years, read Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill.
Through six movies, the Steven Spielberg produced dinosaur series has racked up $6 billion worldwide. The recent trilogy of Jurassic World movies posted the franchise’s top three best grosses, i.e. the 2015 edition ($1.67M billion WW), 2018’s Fallen Kingdom ($1.3 billion) and last year’s Dominion ($1B WW).
Universal always had this date on hold for an event film; the only other title opening against Jurassic World will be an untitled Angel Studios movie on July 4 next year.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith definitely didn’t surpass expectations, it mostly left us with question marks for expressions because of how lackluster the show really was. I suppose you could say there are some good parts; you’ve got beautiful sets and some fun fashion choices, but most importantly, a bunch of cameos that are meant to enhance the show considering how dull it is otherwise. Not to say that Donald Glover and Maya Erskine are incapable of holding our attention, but it’s probably a mix of the writing and the pacing of this show that had me completely bored by the end of it. And, no, even these incredible special appearances did not pique my interest in any way. However, they do add a little bit of fun, even if briefly, to the mostly tedious show. Mr. & Mrs. Smith follows spies in this new spyverse, where there is...

You can add The Beekeeper to the long list of action movies named for the jobs their protagonist took up after laying down their weapons and trying to live a peaceful life: The Gardener, The Painter, The Bricklayer… etc, etc. Actually Adam Clay always was a beekeeper, that was the name of the elite unit he was a part of before he retired to actually raise bees. He does this on a farm owned by Eloise Parker somewhere in a very confused part of England that wants us to believe it’s actually Western Massachusetts.
Eloise, who is supposed to be a retired teacher and should know better, falls for one of those computer scams that says you have a virus and to call this number to have it removed.

2023 was a banner year at the box office. For the first time since the pandemic, domestic ticket sales totaled more than $9 billion. Movies that weren't sequels or reboots dominated the landscape, with "Barbie," "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," and "Oppenheimer" bringing moviegoers out en masse. 2024 is going to be different as the release calendar is a bit sparse thanks to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. As for what is on the calendar, there are quite a few movies that have serious breakout potential. At the same time, some of those very same movies are risky propositions for the studios releasing them.

The "Fast & Furious" saga is some of the most fun you can have with a movie franchise. Where most Hollywood properties make empty promises about diversity and inclusiveness, this is a franchise so diverse it actually just makes every actor in Hollywood Latino whether they want to be or not (in a good way). Sure, on the surface they seem like silly movies about cars and scantily-clad women looking at cars, but it is that -- and so much more.
Part of the ridiculous allure of this franchise is how earnest it is. The theme of family is more than a meme, it's the movie series' driving force. And then there's the nonsensical timeline and naming conventions for these films, which make them a hilarious puzzle to try and figure out. The timeline circles back on a whim, constantly re-contextualizing previous events and introducing and reintroducing characters and plot...

The Fast & Furious movies saga, a robust international action series created by Gary Scott Thompson, has proven to be much more than its humble beginnings as a street racing storyline in 2001. Who would have predicted the evolution from gritty street races to the cinematic spectacle of dragging bank vaults across the asphalt, airborne cars, submarine escapes, and speculative alien encounters? However, following the franchise’s timeline can feel like being in a high-speed chase.

Universal Pictures is relocating the unknown stuntman. The studio announced Tuesday that its upcoming adaptation of the 1980s TV series “The Fall Guy” is moving to May 3, 2024.
The news comes less than a week after the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike, which kickstarted Hollywood production after the months-long halt to most industry business.
Starring Ryan Gosling in the role originated by Lee Majors, the film follows Colt Seavers, a stunt performer who moonlights as a private investigator. While working on a film directed by his ex, Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt), he’s recruited by the film’s producer (Hannah Waddingham) to find the film’s missing star (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) while keeping his disappearance a secret from the studio and the public.
The original series ran for 5 seasons on ABC from 1981 to 1986. Starring Majors, Douglas Barr and Heather Thomas, the show was a modest success during its run and spawned a...

This post contains spoilers for "The Marvels."
In "The Marvels," Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Monica Rambeau (the latter of whom, we will, in accordance with Kamala Khan, henceforth call "Professor Marvel") do battle with Dar-Benn, a Kree warrior who plans to destroy multiple worlds. It's not a nice thing to do, and it makes sense that our heroes don't want her to do it.
There's just one problem.
Dar-Benn, played by Zawe Ashton, isn't just wrecking planets for fun. We learn quickly that she's using the power of the Quantum Bands — never mind those, they're just a MacGuffin — to remove the atmosphere, the oceans, and even the sun from other inhabited worlds and move them to her own world, Hala, which was left in ruins after Captain Marvel, at the end of her first movie, liberated it from the Supreme Intelligence.
It turns out that destroying an entire planet's...

Stuntman-turned-filmmaker David Leitch has put together quite the filmography over the past decade. His first directing gig was co-helming “John Wick” with Chad Stahelski before rattling off “Atomic Blonde, “Deadpool 2,” and “Hobbs & Shaw” in quick succession. Then came “Bullet Train” in 2022, an action romp starring Brad Pitt that, despite middling reviews, cements Leitch as one of Hollywood’s premier contemporary action directors.

David Leitch and his incredible action team from his production company, 87North, are taking on the movie adaptation of the 80s TV series The Fall Guy, which stars just Ken himself, Ryan Gosling, and Emily Blunt. Leitch has carved out a nice little resume for himself with films including John Wick, Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, Hobbs & Shaw and the recent Brad Pitt actioner, Bullet Train. Leitch’s history as a stuntman in movies that include the Matt Damon Bourne movies can be attributed to the Lee Majors show that is near and dear to his heart, and he is now directing Ryan Gosling in the titular role for the movie version.
