Mediocre little comedy

"Prom Night" is a Canadian English-language short film from 2017, so still a really new one and even if family relations and more serious subjects like pregnancy (possibly unwanted) play a role, this is all about the comedy here. Writer and director is Samantha MacAdam and she is normally a prolific editor, so this is a new effort for here here. All in all the actors are very forgettable and the material in terms of plot and story is also good enough only for half the runtime I guess. I cannot say I was too well-entertained here or laughed a lot here to be honest. It is a very dialogue-based 14 minutes, but maybe MacAdam still needs a bit of practice there, so it's fine this was made if it increases her potential for upcoming projects if she decides to keep going as the woman in charge. Otherwise focus on editing may be the better idea again. All in all, I have to give this short film a thumbs-down. A bit overseen, not overlooked, and very overrated, at least here on imdb. Watch something else instead.
