A Conversation with Martin Scorsese, Robert DeNiro and Jerry Lewis (2014)

**** (out of 4)

This twenty-nine minute conversation was recorded at the Tribeca Film Festival where they were paying tribute to the 1983 classic THE KING OF COMEDY. Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese are the first to enter the stage and we hear some fabulous stories about how they became aware of the project and who sold who on why it should be made. There's some great discussions about the various decisions that were made in the film including the casting and even the haircut De Niro wore. There's even talk about a certain thing that wasn't in the original screenplay. When Lewis walks out on stage the entire thing changes as he pretty much takes over and delivers a very funny and wonderfully entertaining comedy performance. You know, I've never been a major fan of several Lewis pictures but whenever he's just doing his bit on talk shows or in this case, this featurette, he's just wonderfully entertaining. If you're a fan of THE KING OF COMEDY then this here is certainly a must see, although one wishes that it lasted for hours.
