Against all odds, "Mystery Science Theater 3000" manages to keep surviving thanks to a dedicated fanbase who never gets tired of seeing awful, old movies get mocked relentlessly. After the show disappeared for awhile, a crowdfunding campaign in 2015 promised to bring it back with a vengeance, and Netflix jumped on board to bring it to the masses in 2017, ending an 18-year hiatus. After that, creator Joel Hodgson got fans to help fund the show's 13th season, as well as the creation of the Gizmoplex, a dedicated website and distribution platform to give fans more new episodes of the show. Season 13 was released last year, and it even made it over to the "MST3K" channel on PlutoTV. Now, Hodgson is hoping to come back for more.
Today, Joel Hodgson announced a new crowdfunding campaign to help make "Mystery Science Theater 3000" season 14. This new campaign is being launched under the show's new in-house crowdfunding platform,...

Universal is headed back into an unknown empire of darkness with a new take on The Mole People, Deadline reports today. The new movie will remake the classic film from 1956.
Chris Winterbauer is writing the script, based on a pitch that Universal Pictures acquired from Winterbauer, with Robert Kirkman (“The Walking Dead”) producing the remake.
“In the new take, a woman travels to a town veiled in a conspiracy to rescue her grandchildren from their father. To do this, she must fight through hell in the underground tunnels where the Mole People reside.”
Deadline reminds, “In the 1956 original, archaeologists stumble into the underground lair of a race of darkness-dwellers who can see in low light and have no pigmentation after being out of the light for so long. The high priest who rules the small pocket of mole people is threatened by the newcomers and wants them dead.”

Thomas Smith’s Demon Squad 2 has launched it’s Kickstarter campaign. This is the sequel to Demon Squad which was featured on the revived cult-classic TV series,Mystery Science Theater 3000.
Paranormal investigators Nick Moon and Daisy O’Reilly return for a haunted house mystery filled with monsters and magic. But things don’t go quite as you might expect. To divulge much more would be…spoilers.
While Demon Squad leaned into the tropes of traditional film noir, Demon Squad 2 will lean more into adventure, science fiction, and fantasy, providing an exciting new backdrop for our characters to explore.

Last year, we saw a list of thirteen movies that would be riffed during the new season of the classic series Mystery Science Theater 3000, which is now being released through the show’s own indie streaming platform The Gizmoplex. On that list was a movie called The Christmas Dragon, which was said to be about “a group of orphans going on a journey to restore the lost magic and save Christmas.” What wasn’t mentioned at that time is that original MST3K host Joel Hodgson will be returning to riff The Christmas Dragon with current hosts Jonah Ray and Emily Marsh!
The Christmas Dragon episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 will be reaching the Gizmoplex on December 16th. The livestream premiere begins at 8pm Eastern. Here’s the information:

Where to Watch “Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Return”: Netflix
It doesn’t come until about a half-hour into the first Netflix original episode of “Mystery Science Theater 3000,” but take a few minutes and just bask in “Every Country Has a Monster.” First off, the “What’s your deal? Why don’t you shave?” is the kind of non sequitur that Crow (an impeccable Hampton Yount) thrives on. Then, there’s the carvings, from the etched map to the parade of mythological creature standees that quickly pile up on top of it.
As for the song itself, it’s the linguistic version of “American Ninja Warrior.” That “Congo’s kongamato is a mondo flyin’ dino / I know I don’t wanna die, but when I do, he’ll be the guy” section is Jonah Ray doing the tongue/mouth equivalent of a one-handed salmon ladder.

As a young boy, Dan Lanigan collected “Star Wars” action figures and was interested in how movies were made; now he gets really excited about discovering film artifacts like Mary Poppins’ carpet bag or the prototype Jack Skellington doll.
That’s what makes him the perfect host for Disney Plus’ newest series “Prop Culture,” which takes a look at the stories behind the memorable objects featured in Disney’s most iconic projects. Each 30-minute episode focuses on a single film from the studio’s catalog, including “Tron,” “Mary Poppins,” “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” and “Pirates of the Caribbean.”

Mystery Science Theater 3000 acolytes had reason to be extra grateful this Thanksgiving: Netflix on Thursday renewed the rebooted revived cult fave for a second season (or 12th season, if you’re thinking cumulatively).

Mst3K Season 12 on Netflix is a go! Expect more Mystery Science Theater 3000 on your screens just in time for Turkey Day.
Mystery Science Theater 3000 Season 12 will head back to Netflix for more mirthful movie-riffing, just in time for a proper Thanksgiving Turkey Day marathon. Indeed, Jonah Ray, Felicia Day, Patton Oswalt will be back in their respective MST3K roles, joined, of course, by Crow T. Robot, Tom Servo and Gypsy.
Last year’s inaugural revival season was officially titled Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Return. This time, however, the sophomore round will bear the formal title, Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Gauntlet. This is because the series is upping the cheesy movie stakes higher than ever with a cinematic sextet ominously referred to as “The Gauntlet.”
