The BBC was forced to censor Rage Against the Machine's performance of "Bullet in the Head" removing the word "Motherf*cker" after an incident on BBC Radio 1's UK Top 40 Countdown on the 21st of February 1993 when DJ Bruno Brookes accidentally played the full uncensored version of the band's single "Killing in the Name" as a new entry at #27 which contained the lyric "Fuck You, I Won't do what you tell me" repeated sixteen times ending with "Motherfucker." Brookes was unaware of the happenings as he was recording an advert for next week's countdown during the explicit laden ending and announced the next song without any apology. BBC Radio 1 would go on to receive 138 phone calls of complaints from offended listeners following the song.
