The New Velvet
apitaa6 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Absolutely love the original show Velvet, and fell in love with Ana and Alberto's love story how they were meant to be and finally found happiness at the end of the last episode I was so excited to sign Onto Netflix and see Velvet Colleccion .....however if your a fan of all the original cast you might be disappointed. Not giving any spoilers away I wish they would have just continued Velvet with the original cast and then eased people into this show, it does have some cast members in it but it's just not the same.

Glamorous but predictable
mgumsley20 July 2020
There are a lot of characters in this show, and it has a wonderful sixties vibe with authentic music and the best in sixties clothing and jewellery trends. It is quite fast moving and as I don't know Spanish I found it difficult to follow the subtitles. The main characters are quite likeable and the show tries to appeal to everyone by focusing partly on owner Mr Godo's businesses which collide with those of the Fashion store. I have been enjoying Spanish series since I first watched Money Heist; and they achieve a good standard here but it is a tad predictable and at times a bit silly. I love the energy and verve of the Spanish cast, many of whom were in Gran Hotel, which is much longer than this, and has the same plushy ambience.

Nice show, but velvet is much better. When i watched velvet coleccion i missed the other characters of velvet wich were not included in velvet coleccion though. Great storyline and worth watching after velvet.

Wonderful

In some aspects I like it even more than Velvet because in Velvet everything was focused to Ana and Alberto while in Velvet Colección almost every character has prominence.

So much potential, but doesn't quite hit a homerun

Warning: Spoilers
Interesting show, it had so much potential, but misses the mark. I give the show a 7. -1 point for the bumbling dad & son's over acting. -1 point for Elena's over acting, sad to see them show an oblivious catty woman who crawls back after leaving the groom at the altar, costing God knows how much. -1 point for the OVER ACTING, in your face, overbearing gypsies- dear God they were annoying.

Take those 4 out of the equation & you have a pretty God show. It flows well.

I would love to watch Velvet, but am NOT a fan of Natalia Millan, she ruined El Ministerio del Tiempo & I had to stop watching El Internado (the Boarding School) because she plays the same overbearing, b.....chy, does no wrong (everytime), annoying female character. I just can't risk it.

You have to be ready to watch Velvet without the 2 protagonists!
meli_na_cy24 December 2019
You have to be ready to watch Velvet without the 2 protagonists! If you are ok with that then you will love it !

It's the exact same feeling and style as the "original" velvet . It's like you are seeing what happened after . Not with the protagonists since they got their happy ending, but with the rest ! 20 episodes are not bad but surely not enough unfortunately since i love Velvet !

Enjoy!

Pretty Good

You know how you get to the end of a series and wish there was more? Well here it is. Of course the feelings evoked by the original Velvet couldn't be replicated but I was happy to have this series! I would have watched it forever probably just because I loved the original so much.

Like others, I adored Velvet but it sadly could not go on forever (so I'll just keep watching again and again).

The Coleccion is not to be taken too seriously. Its part Carry On film, part James Bond, a bit taken from the film Ghost, we 're taken on a ride from Flamenco to Hippy vibe. And Raul took the comedy to another level. He needs his own show ! and the actor who played Manolito carried off his father Pedro's animated way of speaking perfectly.

poorly written --Wanted to like but could not find any redeeming value
texas_blue_follow5 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I wanted to like it but just did not. The appearance of people form the dead appearing, the hippie character of Patricia is not believable. Worst of all is the Iranian guy and that story line. Clara never learns and continues to be too temperamental and not very smart. Just a vast disappointment. I literally fast forwarded through many scenes.

They worked hard to develop characters in he original series then just had people doing so much out of their character --not believable.

Velvet was good - this ain't
trash-410848 August 2018
Has the feel of something made up on the fly as cast members do a runner. A fairly senseless collection of plots and sub-plots, some sillier than others.

Disappointed
saa41925 May 2020
I loved Velvet, but they took the 'annoying' characters from Velvet and tried desperately to recreate the first series. Ridiculous Clara, ridiculous Pedro, timing with details all over the place. I only realized what a class society Spain had....obnoxious. I got through half of the first season, and realized I don't care about either character they either brought through from Velvet, or made up for Coleccion. It could have been better if they would have shown Ana and Alberto in America.

Terrible
ACA134 March 2019
Velvet was great in the first 2 seasons, then it became a real soap and lost its freshness and pizzazz. In Velvet Coleccion, from the beginning it's over the top and series B soap. Very disappointing.

It's all over the place!
gabysinger1 April 2020
I absolutely loved Velvet, but this series makes no sense at all. The characters are all great and the costumes and sets are stunning but their timeline makes is all wrong. It's supposed to be more than a decade on (Lourds is 16) and yet Pedro's twins are still young boys??? Still watched it avidly but disappointing 😒

Silly plot, recycled characters
msimon31323 August 2019
The plot lines were so disjointed and ridiculous that it felt like a really cheap telenovela. In order to spice things up, some old characters from Velvet show up but it does not help.

Muy mala

Esperaba algo mejor, sin Ana y Alberto la serie no tiene sentido y la trama es aburrida, vi los primeros capítulos y abandoné.

Somewhere In-between
jovana_ivetic6 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I watched only the first episode. At the beginning I thought it wasn't so bad, but as minutes went on, I liked the show less and less. I couldn't distinguish if it's meant to be comical or to a certain extent serious. Some characters' behaviours are awkward, they grimace when they talk, when they smile, it's so broad it looks scary and weird. I just didn't think it was worth my intention. Especially after the last scene in the first episode when the prince doesn't even shake hands with Clara, but next minute "wants her". So awkward.
