Harsh weather conditions affecting the shooting schedule included rain and climate reaching temperatures of over 40° Celsius during filming in the environs of Coober Pedy in the far north of South Australia.
The film received a Special Mention as a nominee for the Best International Feature Award at the Adelaide Film Festival in 2020.
The period of principal photography on this picture ran for about three and a half months.
The film won two awards at the Schlingel International Film Festival for Children and Young Audience in Germany in 2020. They were the Jury Award and the SLM Top Award.
Producer Jim Robison and writer-director Kurt Martin spent about a couple of weeks driving around central Australia on a location recce scout to especially select the right locales and landscapes for the specific locations aesthetic for the scenes which represent the ''Moon Rock''.
