Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver” debuted on Netflix on April 19. Critical pans aside (IndieWire’s David Ehrlich called Part Two “almost as disastrous” as Part One and gave it a D. Perhaps David’s the real “Scargiver.”), the sequel to the 2023 “Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire” became the streamer’s biggest film (in any language) for the week of April 15-21. It was watched for 44.2 million hours; based on its 2:04 runtime, Netflix translates that to 21.4 million views.
On the March 6 episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience,” Snyder said “Rebel Moon — Part One” was seen by more people (on Netflix) than the smash-hit “Barbie” (in theaters).
“Say right now, [Part One is] like almost 90 million views… 80 or 90 million accounts turned it on, give or take,” Snyder told Rogan. “They assume two viewers per screen, right? So that’s 160 million people supposedly watching… at $10 a ticket,...

To quote Robert Downey Jr. in ‘Infinity War,’ “Your math is blowing my mind.” Last month, director Zack Snyder appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience (you can watch/listen below) to promote his latest film, “Rebel Moon: Part Two” (read our review). Among many of the comments made and stories told, Snyder suggested that more people saw his movie on Netflix than “Barbie” in theaters, a hot take the director used to defend using “Netflix math.”
Pulling 160 million viewers seemingly out of the air, Snyder tried to make a 1:1 comparison between theater tickets sold and the number of people streaming, which is tricky and dubious given dozens of reasons.

Zack Snyder made waves during a March appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience” when he claimed that his critically panned space opera “Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire” was seen by more people when it dropped on Netflix than “Barbie” was during its massive theatrical run. The comments earned him plenty of criticism from cinephiles who felt that he was minimizing the importance of movie theaters, but the director is standing by the math that led him to make the claim.
“You think about Netflix, for instance, where you push a button. ‘Rebel Moon,’ right? Say right now, it’s like almost 90 million views… 80 or 90 million accounts turned it on, give or take,” Snyder said at the time. “They assume two viewers per screen, right? That’s the math… so that’s 160 million people supposedly watching. One hundred and sixty million people at $10 a ticket, that’s $1.6 billion.

At one point in “Little Empty Boxes,” Kathy Lugavere looks into the camera and struggles to find the words to describe her feelings about dementia. Her case is severe enough to rob her of independence, but new enough that she could still remember what life was like before it hit. After fruitlessly searching for a metaphor, she ends up saying that all of her boxes used to be full, but now they’re empty. When asked what she meant by that, she declines to elaborate.
The vague yet haunting imagery creates a fitting title for Max Lugavere’s new documentary, which follows the nutrition influencer as he struggles to manage his mother’s simultaneous battles with dementia and Parkinson’s Disease. Despite building a thriving career as an anti-carb crusader in Los Angeles, America’s most fitness-obsessed city by a considerable margin, Max began to recognize signs of his mother...

Zack Snyder’s Snyderverse still has immaculate domination and an astonishing fanbase with leading heroes, including Superman star Henry Cavill and Batman actor Ben Affleck. Certainly, Snyderverse was much darker going to the extent of his own vision of creating a DC Universe that might not be digestible for many fans.

The reign of Snyder and his Snyderverse is over, and it is unlikely that the director is coming back to DC anytime soon. But while reflecting on his DC characters, the director who has Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver slated for Netflix release this year, revealed that he has no regret in throwing Batman and Superman into one tough spot.

Robert Downey Jr. played a Method actor in Ben Stiller’s comedy “Tropic Thunder” and things got meta on set. In a new GQ video interview, Downey’s co-star Danny McBride remembered accidentally hearing Downey going Method himself and staying in character as he went to take a bathroom break in between takes.
McBride played an explosives expert in the film and was given an earpiece to communicate with the set as his character was perched in a watchtower above the production. It turns out the earpiece was connected to the microphones of several of the cast and crew down below.
“I guess during one of the takes, they had left Downey’s mic on, and so I’m sitting up there, and I’m like, ‘Oh shit, I can hear what he’s saying,'” McBride said. “He was talking to people, and he was in character the whole time.

Since his injury, Mma champion Conor McGregor has been on a long break from the UFC. The fighter recently transitioned to films when he made his acting debut as Knox in Jake Gyllenhaal’s remake of Road House. The film was released recently on Amazon Prime Video and garnered positive responses.
Being one of the most revered boxers and Mma fighters in history, the Irishman recently mentioned that acting was much harder than trading blows in the Octagon. He said that he found it to be more daunting as there was more than just fighting and stunts. However, UFC commentator and podcaster Joe Rogan slammed the fighter for the claim and reminded him of his previous injuries in the Octagon.

Actor Kevin Conroy has been synonymous with Batman ever since he rendered his voice to the character in Batman: The Animated Series. The actor has gone on to lend his voice to Batman and Bruce Wayne in other media such as the Arkham games as well as WB’s DC Animated Universe films such as Batman: The Killing Joke and Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.
While Conroy has been known for his particular brand of performing the iconic superhero, he reportedly had issues with the way Zack Snyder depicted him in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016. The voice actor reportedly had issues, particularly with Batman’s penchant for killing in the film as he is famously known for his ‘no-kill’ rule.

Joni Mitchell quietly returned to Spotify, two years after boycotting the music streamer.
Fans noticed on Friday that the singer’s music seemingly reappeared on the platform, days after Neil Young also made his return to the audio giant. However, the “Help Me” singer has yet to address her return.
The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to Mitchell’s rep and Spotify for comment.
In January 2022, Mitchell announced that she was removing her music catalogue from the streamer in solidarity with Young. “I’ve decided to remove all my music from Spotify,” she wrote on her website at the time. “Irresponsible people are spreading lies that are costing people their lives. I stand in solidarity with Neil Young and the global scientific and medical communities on this issue.”

Joe Rogan is widely regarded as the most popular podcaster on Spotify. Now, there’s public data that backs up that assertion. A new feature launched by Spotify allows users to track the follower counts of specific podcasts, and The Joe Rogan Experience has nearly three times more followers than the next show on the list.
Bloomberg located the follower counts of top podcasts by relying on a feature Spotify has been testing over the past month. The unnamed tool lets users swipe through episode previews and follow podcasts that pique their interests. Each show’s total follower count is listed as part of that display.
According to that public count, The Joe Rogan Experience has 14.5 million followers on Spotify. No other podcast listed in Bloomberg‘s report has more than five million followers. The list of shows with seven-digit follower counts includes several creator-led programs, such as Alex Cooper...

Joni Mitchell has quietly followed Neil Young and put her music back on Spotify.
Unlike Young, there was no official statement from Mitchell or her camp announcing or explaining the decision. Rather, it was fans on social media who noticed her catalog was back and spread with the news with all-caps fervor: “Joni Mitchell Music Back On Spotify This Is Not A Drill,” tweeted one user.
A rep for Mitchell did not immediately return Rolling Stone’s request for comment.

Neil Young is ending his two-year Spotify boycott.
The celebrated singer is returning his music to the audio giant after Joe Rogan signed a $250m deal to make his podcast available on multiple platforms, rather than remaining a Spotify exclusive.
Young withdrew his music from Spotify in January 2022 due to its support for Rogan, and a number of big-name artists including his former bandmates Crosby, Stills and Nash followed suit.
Young’s issue with Spotify was that the platform was backing a podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, helmed by someone who was spreading vaccine misinformation.
Young yesterday indicated that his music’s return to the platform does not reflect a reversal of his stance against Rogan. He has previously said that Spotify represented 60% of his streaming revenue globally, leading to a “huge loss” for his record company.

“I’m Batman” is one of the defining lines in all of superhero movies. And while a number of actors have uttered it and tried to make it their own, to director Zack Snyder, there’s only one man who is truly Batman. Except it has nothing to do with their inherent skills but rather their hulking, bulky look in the costume…which is about the most Zack Snyder take we can expect. And that Batman is Ben Affleck.
Appearing on The Joe Rogan Experience (via Cbr) earlier this week, Zack Snyder said that the size of Ben Affleck was what drew him to cast the star. “I wanted Affleck, because, to me, Batman’s a big dude…Affleck’s 6’4”, you know? He’s a legit big dude. And the shoes, the boots are like two inches, so he’s literally almost 6’6” in the costume. When he comes out in the costume – I mean,...

Zack Snyder still stands by his choice of actors in the Dceu movies, especially Batman actor Ben Affleck. While fans retrospectively show more love towards Henry Cavill’s Superman, not many seem to share the same feelings for Affleck. For Snyder, though, the Gone Girl actor is a better choice for the Caped Crusader than Christian Bale. Snyder also revealed a reason behind this controversial revelation, which some comic book fans may find valid.

By the look of it, Zack Snyder’s Gerard Butler-led 2007 action-adventure movie, 300, seems to be dominated by alpha males with violence radiating through their eyes. However, Snyder, co-writer and the director of the movie, feels differently.

Zack Snyder said in a recent interview on “The Joe Rogan Experience” that he doesn’t understand when fans’ hatred of his work becomes personal. Amid poor reviews for his latest directorial effort, Netflix’s “Rebel Moon,” Snyder read one article that referred to him as a “love him or hate him” filmmaker.
“I have no issue with you not liking the movie,” Snyder said. “That’s not the question. Who cares? The thing is, like, you would personalize. You’d hate me because of it. I don’t understand that.”
Snyder had to deal with a lot of fan hatred when he greatly upset comic book movie fans with the 2016 release of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” which featured a more aggressive version of Batman. 300 was a highly stylized retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae adapted from the comic by Frank Miller, and director Zack Snyder recently spoke about the movie on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. Although historians have found plenty of evidence of homosexuality in Ancient Greece, 300 doesn’t really touch upon it. When asked if he ever thought “about putting a bunch of gay stuff in there,” Snyder replied that he was adapting a comic, not real history. However, the director did say that he’s been talking about a 300 series which would include more of those elements.
“It’s Frank’s book. I made what Frank wrote,” Snyder said. “And we’ve been talking about doing a series where I really wanted to introduce those concepts a lot more because I just feel like it’s important. If we go forward and do more in the ‘300’ universe,...

“Some days you just can’t get rid of a bomb!” Zack Snyder lit the fuse of several fandoms while appearing on The Joe Rogan Experience after saying Batman is “irrelevant” if he can’t kill, and more people saw Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire on Netflix than Greta Gerwig’s billion-dollar cinematic sensation, Barbie, in theaters. During his chin-wag with Rogan, Snyder expressed his gratitude for partnering with Netflix for several projects, including Army of the Dead, Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire, and upcoming features like Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, Planet of the Dead, and Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver.
According to Zack Snyder, he’s done the math and believes more people streamed the first chapter of his Rebel Moon saga on Netflix than Gerwig’s $1.4 billion grossing pink-coded box office blockbuster. Math was never my strong subject in school,...

Zack Snyder is a prolific screenwriter, director, and producer who made his directorial debut with the 2004 movie, Dawn of the Dead. He came into the limelight with movies like 300 (2006) and Watchmen (2009), and then went on to establish the Dceu with movies like Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and the directorial cut of the 2017 release, Justice League. Recently, he sat with Joe Rogan for the latter’s podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, where Snyder shared many stories about his career.

Zack Snyder appeared on “The Joe Rogan Experience” and championed his recent pivot to Netflix. The 58-year-old filmmaker spent the bulk of his career making movies at Warner Bros., but he made the jump to streaming starting with the 2021 release of his zombie action movie “Army of the Dead.” Snyder’s latest Netflix original was “Rebel Moon,” which debuted in December and kicked off a new space saga for the streaming giant. A second “Rebel Moon” film arrives this spring.
During a two-hour conversation with Joe Rogan, Snyder marveled at the reach Netflix has compared to traditional film studios. He ran some math to prove his point and deduced that “Rebel Moon,” despite being panned by film critics, probably got seen by more people than Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie,” a box office powerhouse with $1.4 billion worldwide (which made it the highest grossing film of 2023 and Warner Bros.’ top grosser in history).

Zack Snyder’s tenure in the Dcu was tumultuous as his take on the DC brand and its characters was divisive among fans. The studio itself was not comfortable with Snyder’s dark approach to Superman and Batman, and thus, they demanded a lot of changes when he was making Justice League.

The unfavorable studio interference and toxic nature of the fanbase disillusioned Snyder, and he left Warner Bros. He has talked many times about how Warner Bros wanted to follow the Marvel formula. Now, in an interview with Joe Rogan, Snyder has addressed how he got flak for going against one controversial stance regarding Batman among fans.

Call of Duty nourished an era of competitive gamers, playing in open lobbies as they showcase their skills and how well attuned they are to the gameplay and knowledge of various maps but have gone a step too far with excessive cheating and exploits that even Joe Rogan can’t believe. The sports commentator is all about fairness and sportsmanship but after witnessing how players use dishonorable tactics and cheats to win is something he wishes to go away.
Unfortunately, cheating is everywhere and just in gaming, companies have taken preventative measures in the past but worked to no avail. Cheaters have discovered ways how to bypass the security of games where they can now produce certain mods that will give players specific advantages. It is sad to see well-respected franchises like Call of Duty be desecrated by this mischievous act.

Cheaters in Call of Duty have become such a topic of debate, the subject has now reached certain celebrities. Recently, the conversation made it to The Joe Rogan Experience, a podcast hosted by American comedian and UFC color commentator Joe Rogan.
Over the years, the show has become immensely popular, with millions of monthly listeners on Spotify.
Recent patches in MW3 and Warzone were supposed to get rid of these cheaters, however, the issue persists and they continue to plague the game. Players have urged the devs to take strict actions against hackers, but all a user is left with is a feeling of being unheard.

It’s been a strange few weeks for Saturday Night Live. Two weeks ago, during a night hosted by Madame Web actress Dakota Johnson, cast members Bowen Yang and Sarah Sherman distanced themselves from Dave Chappelle when the transphobic comedian crashed SNL’s goodbye segment at show’s end. Then, last week, the show laundered Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley’s racist Civil War denialism. Now, America’s premier sketch-comedy series has decided to welcome Shane Gillis to host.
Back in 2019, SNL announced that Gillis would be joining the cast of the show.

The Joe Rogan Experience renews its deal with Spotify but moves to a non-exclusive distribution plan
Spotify is all-in to keep The Joe Rogan Experience on its streaming platform. Today, the music, podcast, and audiobook platform announced it’s inked a multi-year extension to host Rogan‘s top-rated program. However, rather than make Spotify the only place you can listen to The Joe Rogan Experience, the interview podcast is going non-exclusive, opening the door up for listeners across a spectrum of streaming services.
Other platforms set to host The Joe Rogan Experience include Apple, Amazon, and YouTube. Spotify began laying the groundwork for Rogan to expand his reach in 2023, and now that shift is happening. Instead of letting Rogan roam free, Spotify “will work closely with Joe and his team to continue to maximize the audience of the show across platforms.”
Streaming competitors have kept close watch over the expiration of Rogan’s current deal, which some estimate was for $200 million. Knowing other platforms would poach Rogan without hesitation,...

By 2018, Will Compton, a 28-year-old backup linebacker on a one-year contract with the Tennessee Titans, knew his playing days were numbered. Contemplating a career after football, he considered going into real estate or coaching but couldn’t muster much enthusiasm for either. Driving home after a game one evening, he called Taylor Lewan, an offensive tackle for the Titans and his closest friend on the team, with whom he’d just done a postgame segment on Titans Radio. The two, who had bonded over their fondness for podcasts like The Joe Rogan Experience, had undeniable chemistry on the air, and the experience got them thinking about starting their own podcast. For Lewan, who had just signed a six-year deal with the Titans, it sounded like a fun time. For Compton, it was a go-for-broke career plan. The following year, they launched Bussin’ With the Boys.

Robert Downey Jr. has long defended his role in “Tropic Thunder,” the 2008 comedy from director Ben Stiller that cast the “Iron Man” star as an egotistical Australian thespian who takes Method acting to an extreme by undergoing “pigmentation alteration” surgery to darken his skin in order to play a Black solider in a war movie. Some have come down on Downey Jr. in recent years for doing Blackface in the film, but the actor has never agreed with the backlash.
During an appearance on Rob Lowe’s “Literally!” podcast while on his “Oppenheimer” awards campaign trail, Downey Jr. drew a line between “Tropic Thunder” and Norman Lear’s iconic sitcom “All in the Family.” He said both works shine a light on “tropes that are not right and had been perpetuated for too long” and faced criticism from those who weren’t seeing the bigger picture.

Podcast creators on Spotify and YouTube keep hearing it: if they post video versions of their episodes, they’ll reach more listeners and build stronger connections with their core audience.
James and Anthony Deveney, hosts of Raiders of the Lost Podcast, tell Tubefilter they think that’s true.
“Video podcasting is a format that we adopted day one with our show and moving to Spotify opened the door for us to share the video version of our podcast with as many listeners as possible,” they say. “We saw the signs of high engagement implementing video years ago, plus the potential for growth it offers by standing out in the booming industry of podcasts. Video gives us a personal connection to our listeners because they feel even more like they’re in the studio with us and Spotify has helped us achieve goals that were only dreams a few years ago.

The award is given out every year by the tech giant “to honor a show that demonstrates quality and innovation in podcasting.” It is not given to the year’s most popular or listened to show, though its chart position is one of the factors considered alongside the quality of the program.
Wiser Than Me spent 29 days on Apple Podcasts’ U.S. chart, and ranked number 5 on Apple’s top new shows list. Previous recipients of the Apple Podcasts Award include Slate’s Slow Burn, Pushkin’s A Slight Change of Plans, and NPR’s Code Switch.

Taylor Swift is celebrating her newfound status as Spotify’s Global Top Artist with a surprise of her own: The massively popular singer-songwriter has just officially released the previously hard-to-find fan favorite song “You’re Losing Me.”
The song, now widely available on streaming services, is the latest of Swift’s “from the vault” releases – tracks that didn’t make her official studio albums. “You’re Losing Me,” which Swift co-wrote with producer Jack Antonoff, was initially released last May only on the “Late Night Edition” CD of Swift’s 2022 album Midnights and in a digital version exclusively at her web store.
This morning, Swift posted on X/Twitter, “Um ok this is unreal?? I just wanted to say to anyone who listened to my music this year, anywhere in the world, thank you. Getting named Spotify’s Global Top Artist in 2023 is truly the best birthday/holiday gift you could’ve given me.

United Talent Agency has landed a major new client in Oliver Anthony, the singer-songwriter behind the polarizing breakout country single “Rich Men North of Richmond,” which topped numerous charts after debuting on his YouTube channel in August. The first artist in history to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard charts without previously having a song on the charts, his deal is for exclusive worldwide representation in all areas.
Stated UTA Co-Head of Nashville Jeffrey Hasson and Music Agent Curt Motley on the signing, “We’re honored to represent such an authentic artist, and excited to put together a global strategy to bring Oliver Anthony and his music to the people.”
Described by the BBC as “the hit song that has divided the US,” Anthony’s “Rich Men North of Richmond” has drawn criticism from some in the media, even while helping to bolster his fan base, drawing differing reactions across political lines.

Bill Maher and Joe Rogan agreed on at least one thing during the Real Time host’s latest visit to Rogan’s hugely popular podcast. They both seemed to concur that Joe Biden is a lackluster president, might be “mentally compromised,” and his years-old business dealing with his son Hunter looks rather shady.
But when Rogan tried to portray Biden’s trustworthiness as on par with former president and current GOP primary frontrunner Donald Trump, Maher pushed back hard — something Rogan’s fans say the Spotify podcast king’s guests rarely seem comfortable doing nowadays, particularly other comics who hugely benefit from appearing on his show.
Here’s a slightly edited rundown of their debate on this topic, which was from Saturday’s episode of The Joe Rogan Experience (there’s also a video clip with some of this exchange below).
“My biggest issue is [Biden] lies a lot,” Rogan said.

The “Circle” rapper recently appeared on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast and was showered with compliments from the UFC commentator about his body transformation. Rogan told him right off the bat, “Dude, you look f**king great. I told you that when I saw you but I wanna tell you on-air. You look f**king great, man.”
Malone shared that cutting out soda is what largely contributed to his major body transformation.
“Soda is so bad. It’s so good, but so bad,” he said.
But, like any healthy diet, moderation is the key.
“[If’] I had a great show and I’m feeling a little bit naughty, I’m gonna have myself a Coke on ice,” Malone said.
The “Sunflower” singer — whose real name is Austin Post — said he’s down to 180 pounds after tipping the scales at 240 pounds.

“Let’s Make a Deal” host Wayne Brady came out earlier this week as pansexual.
The 51-year-old, who is also known for “Whose Line Is It Anyway” and “The Masked Singer” (which he won in Season 2), made the announcement on Monday via People Magazine.
“I am pansexual,” Brady declared, adding, “Bisexual — with an open mind!”
According to GLAAD, pansexuality falls under the bisexuality umbrella. The LGBTQ+ advocacy organization defines pansexual as “an adjective used to describe a person who has the capacity to form enduring physical, romantic, and/ or emotional attractions to any person, regardless of gender identity.”
A pansexual individual’s sexuality may evolve over time. Brady was formerly married to Mandie Taketa, and the two share a daughter, Maile. He said to People he has been attracted to men in the past, but has never dated one.
Pansexual individuals are sometimes non-binary, but the two are not mutually exclusive.

Quentin Tarantino is widely seen as a top filmmaker thanks to his acclaimed and successful projects. But he’s been very aware that some critics have felt he put perhaps too much of his influences in his films.

Tarantino hasn’t hidden the fact that he draws from a lot of influences for his films. He’s even been quite vocal about this technique.
“I steal from every single movie ever made,” Tarantino once told Empire (via Variety). “If my work has anything, it’s that I’m taking this from this and that from that and mixing them together.”
But some critics felt that Tarantino’s homages to his projects were downright stealing. Composer Ennio Morricone seemed to have developed a slight grudge with Tarantino after working with the filmmaker on The Hateful Eight.

The cowboy singer—that rugged rambler yodeling his way across the wide, lonesome plains of the American West—lost his mystique so long ago that some might assume that the character was just made up for old black-and-white movies. So when you first catch a glimpse of Colter Wall, a twentysomething singer-songwriter from Saskatchewan in a Stetson hat, it’s reasonable to assume that it’s a put-on. As it turns out, though, Wall doesn’t just sing cowboy songs, he lives them. When not on tour, he works as a rancher.
Only with that in mind can Wall’s fourth studio album, Little Songs, be fully appreciated as not just a charming batch of old-fashioned country-western tunes, but as something more personal and carefully considered. While it lacks the stark viscerality of the signer’s self-titled 2017 debut, Little Songs, like 2020’s Western Swing & Waltzes and Other Punchy Songs, eschews...
