Spotify has distributed over $100 million to podcast publishers and creators since January, according to a report published on Monday.

The report, from the New York Times, says the payout is rooted in a program launched earlier this year that expanded revenue streams to eligible hosts and programs in an attempt to attract more creators from platforms like Amazon, SiriusXM and YouTube.

More than half of Americans over 12 have watched a video podcast, mainly on YouTube, a January Edison Research report found. YouTube claims to reach one billion podcast consumers monthly, surpassing traditional audio platforms like Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Although Spotify introduced video podcasts in 2019, it trails YouTube, with about 170 million monthly podcast listeners out of a total audience of 675 million. YouTube paid over $70 billion to creators and media companies between 2021 and 2024.

Roe Jogan (podcast listeners will get the joke) is known to have an opinion on pretty much every trending topic recently. And it seems that the Lively-Baldoni feud is not the exception.

A bitter legal fight between actress Blake Lively and actor-director Justin Baldoni has taken Hollywood by storm, and podcast host Joe Rogan has jumped into the fray, siding with Baldoni. The dispute stems from their work together on the film It Ends With Us, a story about a woman caught in a violent marriage.

Lively claims Baldoni sexually harassed her on set and later tried to ruin her reputation. Baldoni fired back, accusing Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, of defamation and extortion, with lawsuits now piling up on both sides.

The trouble started last December when Lively filed a complaint with California’s Civil Rights Department.

They have text exchanges going back and forth. They just thought no one was going to come out with the receipts. Everyone is scared of them.
