While fans continue to mourn her death, a recent touching revelation from her friend James Blunt reflected on the pressures she faced in the industry, particularly those demanding she maintain a youthful, slender figure.

The acclaimed Hollywood star Patrick Stewart once reflected on Piers Morgan’s CNN exit after his talk show was canceled. Launched in 2011, Piers Morgan Live featured interviews with politicians, celebrities, and public figures. Despite its three-year tenure, the program struggled to resonate with American primetime audiences, leading to its cancellation in 2014 amidst dwindling viewership.

Ryan Gosling dressed up as his character from the Beavis and Butt-Head sketch from his latest SNL appearance at The Fall Guy premiere, alongside Mikey Day. The original sketch went viral online, partly due to the actors breaking character looking at their ridiculous costumes. Their two characters also crashed Emily Blunt's red carpet interview and had some fun exchanges.
Ryan Gosling reprises his Saturday Night Live character on The Fall Guy red carpet, paying homage to Beavis and Butt-Head. Gosling has hosted the long-running NBC comedy show three times, but his most recent hosting gig in April, with musical guest Chris Stapleton, might be his most memorable yet. That's especially true because of a segment in which Gosling and SNL's Mikey Day played characters that looked strikingly like Beavis and Butt-Head without even realizing it. St. Patrick’s Day is a time to celebrate Irish culture, history, and of course, to have a bit of fun! To those unfamiliar, March 17th marks the traditional death date of St. Patrick (Ireland’s patron saint). It used to be a religious day to remember him and how Christianity spread in Ireland.

At this year’s Academy Awards, “The Fall Guy” stars Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt presented a video tribute to stunt performers that included clips ranging from the silent era up through recent action juggernauts like “Rrr” and the “Fast & Furious” series. It was a step forward for a group whose contributions are frequently undervalued despite, as Blunt put it, “risk[ing] life and limb” for cinema. And yet, the segment didn’t come with an award attached.

“The Fall Guy” cannon-rolled into SXSW on Tuesday, injecting a big dose of star power and a movie that celebrates moviemaking into the Austin atmosphere as the festival reached its halfway point.
The Universal Pictures action-comedy stars Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt and Hannah Waddingham in a romantic comedy romp that bears no resemblance to the drama series that aired on ABC from 1981 to 1986. Gosling plays a veteran stuntman for a self-obsessed movie star who gets wrapped up in a murder plot and falls in love with a budding director.
“It was a love letter to stunts and to crews,” “Fall Guy” director David Leitch explained to the SXSW crowd after the film had its world premiere at Austin’s Paramount Theatre. Leitch noted that Gosling’s incredible versatility as an actor gave them a lot of room to expand the story.
“Ryan’s an amazing actor,” said Leitch, who previously worked as a stuntman.

It was almost 10 years ago when Warner Bros. Pictures released Edge of Tomorrow, a sci-fi thriller from director Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity) that starred Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. Edge of Tomorrow was acclaimed at the time of its release as a more intelligent than usual, character-driven and kinetic sci-fi action movie. Yet the studio, producers, and director ended up fighting over the movie’s title before it was even released, a classic Hollywood marketing conundrum that may have hurt the film’s chances.
Cruise plays Maj. William Cage, a public relations officer for the military in a future where Earth is trying to stave off an alien invasion. Forced to accompany troops on a combat mission, Cage is killed—but finds himself reliving the same day over and over again afterward. Desperate to change the outcome, he realizes that his fate is tied to that of the heroic Sgt.

A series of masterpieces, the Dune saga is inevitably one of the most exceptional fictional worlds that filmmaker Denis Villeneuve has effortlessly brought to life. “My biggest challenge on ‘Oppenheimer’ was understanding the scope, understanding how we had to bring different periods across,” explains costume designer Ellen Mirojnick on the undertaking of the Christopher Nolan film. As she details, the epic look at the Manhattan Project and its architect J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy) “took place over 45 years with ease in the cut, so you can’t have anything that’s gonna jump out of frame” in terms of her wardrobe choices. She discusses the scale of the task in a new video that Gold Derby is debuting exclusively, which also includes interviews with cast members and behind-the-scenes footage of filming. Watch the “Oppenheimer” exclusive video featurette above.
One of the key looks of the film for Mirojnick to get right was Oppenheimer’s trademark hat and pipe. She notes how the figure’s “silhouette from the beginning through the end of his life didn’t really change.

On today’s Crew Call we talk with The English composer Federico Jusid, who came into Hollywood’s spotlight after the industry caught his score on the Oscar winning 2009 foreign film, The Secret in Their Eyes.
In the Prime Video series, Emily Blunt plays Cornelia Locke, a woman who arrives to America in 1890 to avenge her son’s death. While an Ennio Morricone sound is natural with any western’s score, Jusid went further to distinguish The English from the rest, incorporating 19th century piano and strings to represent Locke’s homeland.
But if you’re relishing The English on a big screen TV, Jusid’s score sings through, giving it a theatrical quality. Talking about achieving that style, the composer tells Crew Call, “You allow yourself to use a wider orchestra, and of course, sometimes to take a slower tempo.” Jusid expounds on how he boarded the Hugo Blick created series,...

Emily Blunt has a cheeky but evasive response when questioned about the potential of her character, Evelyn Abbott, showing up in A Quiet Place: Day One. Blunt's Evelyn is one of the main characters in the A Quiet Place franchise. A Quiet Place first premiered in 2018 and was directed by Blunt's husband, John Krasinski, who also starred alongside her in the film. The film imagines a family surviving in silence in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by extraterrestrial species who rely on hearing to attack their victims. A Quiet Place spawned two sequels and now a spinoff film, A Quiet Place: Day One.
In an interview with Deadline, Blunt had a coy response to the question of whether she would appear in A Quiet Place: Day One. The film will be a spin-off/prequel that captures the earliest days of the extraterrestrial invasion. Since it's still set in A Quiet Place's universe,...

A wily old pro teams up with one of the most exciting young actresses of the day in the emotionally loaded drama A Good Person. Zach Braff’s latest feature excels at taking the measure of how people cope with personal tragedy and does so in a vital and engaging way that’s far more invigorating than depressing. Braff essentially makes one feature film every 10 years (Garden State and Wish I Was Here came before), and while he otherwise busies himself with music, television and other pursuits, his talent is such that you’d like to see him wade more frequently and deeper into film work than he so far has.
This may be melodrama, but it’s melodrama of a pretty high order, one that benefits from a first-rate cast led by Florence Pugh and Morgan Freema and shifts tones and moods that startle with their bluntness and honesty.

It’s rare for someone to play two different and unrelated characters on the same TV show, but one actor did wound up with two separate roles on The Office. With Dunder Mifflin Scranton being such a small office and operation, it would be difficult for an actor to pop in and out as different characters without audiences recognizing them, yet over the course of nine seasons, one person pulled double duty and mostly went unnoticed.
On The Office, Michael Scott had many alter-egos, as he enjoyed improvising and playing different characters to make his day more entertaining. Among the characters he'd transform into, there was Prison Mike, Ping, and Michael Scarn, all of them used to get himself out of his current reality. However, it wasn’t Steve Carell who showed up as two entirely different characters on the show; it was an actor who appeared separately in seasons...

How much dramatic license is excessive? Do artists have a responsibility to create positive representations around public figures, especially if they’re beloved and inspire reams of adulation and pity from admirers? Andrew Dominik, with his long, long-awaited adaptation of Joyce Carol Oates’ novel Blonde—a free biography of the life of Marilyn Monroe—maybe simply doesn’t care about these questions. Yet he undoubtedly cares about the real life––and especially the fragile inner world––of his subject, famously born Norma Jeane Desmond. But in his unforgiving portrait of her travails and lacks in this world he bravely gambles on (and will potentially lose) the majority of his audience’s good faith by focusing so heavily on the pain and affliction she endured.
For those very familiar with Marilyn Monroe, Blonde, running a fluidly edited two hours and 45 minutes, is not going to be revelatory; it certainly doesn’t...
