Warning: Spoilers
The 1980s was when the WWF, that's the World Wresting Federation, not the World Wildlife Fund, pretty much ruled the decade linked to the geopolitical struggles and all. The 1980s was also the decade that featured The Goonies, a wonderful movie, and anyway, Cyndi Lauper recorded The Goonies 'R' Good Enough and we had part one of the video which ended on a cliffhanger, with Steven Spielberg not even sure what to do. Anyway, part 1 featured two future Oscar winners: Spielberg of course, and Ke Huy Quan of course. Anyway, not many music videos can boast two future Oscar winners. Here the WWF stars have lots of fun and you can tell. For whatever reason the only Goonie not appear was Kerri Green.

Everything is good enough for Lauper in this cringeworthy music video

Warning: Spoilers
Here we have the music video for the Cyndi Lauper song "The Goonies 'R' Good Enough". This was a top10 hit in America I think and of course as you can see from the title, this is a work about the Goonies and also featuring the Goonies. I just assume that everybody who reads this knows it is a Steven Spielberg adventure movie mostly aimed at younger audiences. As a consequence, you will see many of the actors in this music video, but also some new actors and characters. Except Lauper of course. Actually, you can say that this is a double feature, first half is over 7 minutes, second half is over 5 minutes and follows right up on where the first ended. But yeah, what can I say. My recommendation is to really skip this over 30-year-old work to be honest. Lauper is cringeworthy to watch and with her hair the epitome of style over substance too. Her overacting is not fun, not guilty pleasure material, just unbearable to witness. The actually more talented actors here have weaker material, if you can call it material at all. It's all about Lauper. And yeah, the Asians cannot spell her last name properly, but do know that it's "Cyndi" and not the more common form "Cindy"? Honestly I am not buying anything I witnessed here. As for the song, this is maybe the only positive thing I can say: it is catchy on 1 or 2 occasions. But it is zero challenging and sure does not prove that Lauper is a talented singer. On the contrary actually, without the background instrumental music, it would sound as if she was screaming I must say. This somewhat saved her. And yes, the lyrics are also a bit of a joke. I understand it is a tribute to the movie, but it does not only deliver anything that has nothing to do with the film, but also related to the film it is as shallow as it gets and the chorus line feels rather awkward that you ask yourself "huh what?" then truly making a connection to the Goonies film. So yeah, this was a massive failure in my opinion and even as a non-Goonies fan I must say that the movie deserved far better. Highly not recommended, not even to the most die-hard Goonies film fans, maybe especially not to those. Watch soemthing else instead or if you care about the song, then do yourself a favor and skip the video here. I bet even Sean Astin and Josh Brolin are ashamed.
