The bandana which Forrest wears is actually a replica of a bandana worn by biker number 3 in the opening scene of Terminator 2: judgement Day. It was found in an antique store in Balmain.
The character 'Johnny' was originally to be played by Denzel Washington but other commitments forced him to withdraw from the production. The part was later recast to Jack Noble when talent scouts noticed him leaping over a bin in a Chikos carpark.
The mince meat used when Grant Oxtoby has his arm removed by Ants was actually sourced from Fairy Meadow butcher. The meat was donated to the films production under the conditions that the butcher would be credited in the film. He was not credited.
