- After a perfumer's death, his daughter works to meet the production deadline for his company's latest scent, which is complicated by the lack of an elusive ingredient.
- After her father's premature death, Violet (Shantel VanSanten) is left with only a small vial of his last perfume, the third in a successful trilogy that is to be delivered in time for the Valentine's Day deadline. With no formula and unable to scientifically reformulate her late father's mystery blend, the pressure is on as Violet's Distributors have already pre sold and heavily marketed the most anticipated perfume of its kind. All whilst evading the notorious copycat perfume queen, Olivia Caine (Bobbie Phillips) and long-time rival who is hoping for and plotting her failure.
- Violet (Shantel VanSanten) is a chemist who is carrying on the legacy of her Belgian family's perfume company by recreating her late father's secret formula. With a Valentine's Day deadline fast approaching, she meets the perfect "nose" and botanist -- the handsome Declan "Dec" Granger (Victor Webster) -- who could be the key to unlocking the missing ingredient. But when a rival perfumer (Bobbie Phillips) nearly copies the formula, Violet delays returning to her life in Boston and follows her heart instead, discovering along the way that sometimes dreams can change.
- Following the unexpected passing of her father Eric Chappel early in the year, Violet Chappel, a research chemist at a pharmaceutical company in Boston, and her corporate consultant boyfriend Stefan Loxley head to Bruges, Belgium, where she grew up, for her to assume the temporary position of Interim CEO at the family's company, Chappel, a parfumerie. She understands the technical side of the business having grown up around it, but will rely on Stefan to provide advice on the financial side. Beyond returning to Boston with Stefan after all is said and done, Violet does not know what she will do with the business besides not selling to rival Olivia Caine, who made her wealth on producing knockoffs of established fragrances - Chappel's which she was never able to reproduce in their complex formulations - and who had always wanted to buy Eric out to reduce the competition. Violet is informed by Stefan that the company faces potential financial ruin if it is unable to fulfill its contract with Harv Willard, for who Chappel is in the process of producing Sky, the last in a trilogy of fragrances and one which is scheduled for a Valentine's release. The problem is that no one can locate the formula for Sky, and the only known sample is a small vial which Eric, as he has always done with all his fragrances, gave to Violet upon its completion. If Chappel has any hope of producing Sky as Eric had envisioned it to meet the deadline, Violet has to hire a master perfumer who can recreate the complex formula solely from that small sample. With those she formally interviews having no keen sense of smell at all, Violet decides to take a risk and offers the job to Declan Granger, a botanist who she met by chance and who, on that short meeting, demonstrated that he may have the keenest sense of smell of anyone she's ever met aside from her father. Although happy in his current job as a garden designer at a local conservatory, Dec decides in return to take a chance and accepts the offer. As Dec learns the scientific art of perfumes and works side by side with Violet in trying to figure out that missing fragrance which makes Sky so unique, Olivia and Stefan work from different angles and motivations toward the same goal of breaking up Dec and Chappel and by association Violet, Stefan seeing what Violet and Dec may not want to profess openly: that they are falling in love with each other.—Huggo
