Crossovers in anime are rare to find but just as appreciated. Works such as that of Naruto, Dragon Ball, and One Piece take up the lot to stand as perhaps the greatest in the anime industry. Crossovers for such are rare to find, most of which are unofficial or fanmade. However, the same cannot be said for an upcoming Netflix anime. One that makes many fans’ dreams come true.

As anime and manga fans will know, the Baki series is one of the best-known and most popular martial arts manga and anime series of all time, right next to Hajime no Ippo and Kengan Ashura (we’re not counting Dragon Ball since it has a fantasy element to it). While Baki‘s style might not be to everyone’s liking, the series is popular, and, in fact, the series has been ongoing since 1991, with six different titles as of the time of writing. The current manga story, Baki Rahen, has been published since 2023.

After Netflix’s recent success with the live-action One Piece adaptation, the company seems to have acknowledged the potential of anime. Several Netflix original series have been released in the past few years, and the latest addition is Garouden: The Way of the Lone Wolf.
This no-nonsense action-packed series is very obviously targeted at fans of Baki, Spriggan, Kengan Ashura, and other original Netflix action anime. No one can deny the cult following these action anime have, and the company did not waste any time catering another series to this growing audience.

And while Netflix’s anime roster is certainly diverse, it seems that the streaming service is definitely focusing on fighting series. We know that Baki is one of the platform’s most important hits, and there are also the likes of Kengan Ashura and Record of Ragnarok, both of which are focused on fighting. Now, as it has been confirmed today, another martial arts anime series is coming to the streaming service, as an anime adaptation of the Garōden novel series by Baku Yumemakura is going to premiere on May 23, 2024.

“Attack on Titan” debuted in 2013, but its so-called “Final Season” has been premiering episodes on Hulu since late 2020. Now, the hugely popular anime based on Hajime Isayama’s manga has finally come to an end after almost 100 episodes — including a highly anticipated feature-length finale that crashed Crunchyroll servers the moment it dropped on November 4.
The finale, titled “Attack on Titan Final Season: The Final Chapters, Special 2,” brings to a close a story that bears little resemblance to the series that began a decade ago. The story of Eren, a young boy who saw his mother killed by monstrous Titans that plague the last remnants of humanity evolved into a complex tale of war and hatred. The world was much larger than we initially thought, the threats more human and nuanced. Victims became aggressors, and friends were forced to fight one another or let humanity be destroyed. Conventional shounen anime adaptations always start off with a defined set of archetypal characters, with which genre fans are quite familiar. The character gallery generally consists of the chosen one, the antithetical frenemy figure, the oddball of a character who shines in the direst situation, the emotional support, along with some other stereotypes, and how the respective content chooses to portray the emotional complexity of each of these archetypes is what makes all the difference.
However, despite initiating its journey right from the shounen genre, in the later portions of the Baki series, the genre conventions are heightened to the point of ridiculousness, which is a sign of the self-aware nature of the source material itself. In terms of characterization, too, the journey is on a particularly set course with only the protagonist, Baki, being the focal point along with his father/prime adversary, Yujiro, which is a far cry from conventional multi-character arc animes.

Netflix’s Baki Hanma Season 2 has ended in spectacular fashion, much to the amusement of the series fans. After a wait of almost two decades (not for manga readers), ardent followers of the Baki anime series were finally able to witness the epic showdown between two generations of the Hanma dynasty, Yujiro and Baki, which led to an emotionally turbulent reconciliation at the end. Yujiro ended up being the winner at the end, but he himself acknowledged Baki’s greatness, declaring his son to be the strongest being on the planet. After all, this was the only fight during the Ogre’s adulthood (except the one with Kaiou Kaku) where he was not bored to death and unleashed his true strength.
With the end of this battle, the Baki Hanma series came to an end, but the journey of Baki and other associated characters is far from reaching its end,...

The quest to be known as the strongest being in the world gets overshadowed by the complicated father-son relationship between the Hanmas as the second part of the second season of Netflix’s anime adaptation of Baki Hanma releases worldwide. It all eventually comes down to this one fight, as all the hardships Baki endured, the beatings he took, the inhuman training he went through—everything was his preparation to match up to his father, Yujiro ‘Ogre’ Hanma. The fight for which the fans have been waiting for almost three different series takes place in the final arc of Baki Hanma and ends in the most surprising fashion as well.
The Hanma bloodline is explored further, and Baki’s traumatic memory of his mother’s death is revealed as well through the course of the series. Alongside the main plotline, a subplot also shapes up in the form of Kaiou...

Anime, or Japanese animation, has been popular in the western world for quite some time. In recent years, however, its appeal has become a lot more mainstream. Thanks in part to the success of films like Parasite, American audiences are becoming more accepting of and interested in content produced on the other side of the globe.
And, of course, wherever there’s a cultural shift, there’s a streamer to profit off of it. To be fair, Netflix has been interested in content from that side of the world for much longer than the Academy Awards have. In the past, they acquired hit shows like Seven Deadly Sins, and even allowed Will Smith’s son to create one of his own.
Now, as the appetite of its subscribers grows, the streamer is busy acquiring more and more Japanese content. Recently, for instance, it added the first hundred episodes or so...

The first of the month is always a big day for streaming services, as that’s when the bulk of their new content for that month tends to hit, with the rest being dished out in small batches over the following weeks. That’s especially true for Netflix, who kicked off June with a massive helping of fresh movies and TV shows on the 1st, and followed it up with a handful of new releases in the days after.
In fact, there were a whopping total of 64 new films and 18 new TV series that arrived on the streaming site this week, and the full list can be found down below:

Catching up with series on Netflix has become a familiar hobby for people during the lockdown – I’ve personally been working my way through Star Trek: The Next Generation – and the platform continues to add great shows and individual seasons to keep us all busy. Just this week, Netflix dropped the current episodes of Supernatural‘s fifteenth and final season, as well as making the first season of Hannibal available to subscribers. These, and other series, make up a good selection of the new additions to the platform this week.
Although fans still have to wait for the final episodes of Supernatural, due to Covid-19, thirteen episodes from season 15 of the incredibly long-lived CW show can now be streamed. The final seven episodes of Supernatural will air on The CW later this year, hopefully, before moving onto Netflix. Meanwhile, if you’ve not sampled the Winchester brothers’ adventures yet, now...

If you’ve been on Netflix at all in the last week or so, you’ll no doubt have caught wind of their latest smash hit, Space Force. If you’re somehow still unfamiliar with it though, you can catch the trailer above for a tease of what’s turning out to be a pretty popular original title for the streaming platform, with the show currently the #1 most watched thing on there.
But Netlifx has never been one to rest on their laurels and they continue to add more and more fresh content. In fact, today brings with it two TV series which may be a bit underwhelming when compared to what the past few days have brought us, but still represent something new to dig into. Plus, tomorrow should more than make up for it.
For now, though, you can see below for the full list of what arrived...

If you’ve been on a Netflix binge-watching streak amid the novel coronavirus pandemic and are starting to feel worried about running out of things to stream, you’ll be glad to get a first look at the amazing line-up of TV shows and movies that the company is set to add to its library in June.
As if Netflix wasn’t already popular enough, they’ve stood to gain a lot of profit from the current outbreak of the Covid-19. With hundreds of millions of people around the globe self-isolating at home, it only makes sense that they’ve turned to streaming platforms to alleviate their boredom. Over the last couple of years, the likes of Amazon Prime, Hulu and HBO Now have upped the ante to seriously compete with Netflix, but if it’s variety you seek, then it’ll be quite a while before another service manages to dethrone the juggernaut.

Here’s another important bulletin to help keep you occupied until the fallout levels are low enough to make living on the surface safe again.
If that moment still feels some ways off, at least Netflix are still pumping out content to satisfy the increase in demand that being homebound has entailed. The streaming giant/fledgling studio has a host of original titles coming to the service in April (you can head through here to see those) and a bunch in May (browse them here). But today we’ll be looking even further ahead still, to the smattering of names already slated to debut in June.
Yes, the company has already announced five new originals for the month of June, and here’s what’s on the docket:
Available June 4th – Baki (Part 3)
Available June 5th – The Last Days of American Crime
Available June 10th – Lenox Hill (season 1)

Netflix has ordered eight episodes of original anime series Gods & Heroes, set in the world of Greek mythology and featuring Jason O’Mara, Mamie Gummer and Chris Diamantopoulos, among others, in the voice cast.
The series (see the new poster below), from Charley and Vlas Parlapanides, chronicles the illegitimate son of Zeus, a young man tasked with saving heaven and earth despite the interference of a vengeful goddess and her monstrous forces.
“In Gods & Heroes we wanted to tell a wholly original story set in the beloved world of Greek mythology,” said creators Vlas and Charley Parlapanides in a statement. “We are thankful for such an amazing cast and for such great creative partners at Netflix and Powerhouse Animation, who continue to push the envelope and expand the anime genre in a manner we had only dreamed of.”
The Parlapanides will serve as writers and executive producers.
