Sex & Nudity
-
- There's a reference to European cities being more open-minded when it comes to sex, and some posters of women in revealing clothes (no actual nudity though) are shown, but very briefly
Violence & Gore
-
- There are multiple scenes that show ISIS executing prisoners by shooting them in the head. Sometimes it cuts away, but sometimes it doesn't
- One time-lapse shot shows a man being hung on a cross, crucifixion-style. It's unclear if the man is alive the whole time, or if it's a real crucifixion, or just symbolic. It is disturbing, whatever the case is.
- War footage shown near the start. At least one person is shot and possibly killed on screen, with some blood visible.
- The aftermath of beheadings is shown twice. There are three to four headless bodies with the heads displayed on a fence over the bodies. The first time it's seen uncensored, and the second time, it's blurred.
- A still image is seen of a man holding a large knife to another man's hand, and he looks as though he's about to cut it off
- Still image shown of what might be a hospital; a man is seen covered in blood. It's unclear if he's alive or dead.
Profanity
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking
Frightening & Intense Scenes
-
- Some violent archive footage is very disturbing.
- The subjects of the documentary are in constant danger for much of the film, and many recount disturbing stories of friends and family they've lost.
