A creative vision worth watching!
This short film is brilliantly executed and developed through the use of, most notably, symbolism. Therefore, while the occurrences in the plot are rather personal, they have an element of relatability through the use of symbolism that I'm sure the audience will find appealing.
Moreover, the cinematography is very fitting, and accentuates the story. While the plot is more somber in nature, the contrast of the camera-work, lighting and music add a whole new dynamic to the film.
As far as the setting goes, I appreciated the use of bright colors to convey a mood for specific scenes, and more muted color palettes for the more serious moods. Not only that, but the little details embedded in the props proves that this was meticulously crafted and thought out.
However, I do think they dialogue could've been stronger here and there. There are times where the tone of the dialogue gets too conversational, and doesn't add much to the story. Instead, the actions the actors do are the ones that speak the most and make up for the dialogue. Overall, the dialogue provides a key into a world completely personal and unique to the director, and his artistic vision is clearly shown.
Ultimately, this is a film I recommend watching. It is relatable, it's fun, refreshing and emotional. The last five minutes of the film are the most powerful to me. The character growth is shown quite intensely and totally. This just goes to show how brilliantly the exposition and rising action were developed. The ending is a vision full of raw emotions and packed with symbolism that distinguish this director from the rest.
