I'm assuming there will be a second season. The setup for next year is there. This episode takes on weighty subjects. Matthew has had a heart attack and, since he can do nothing to help on the farm and the bank wants to call in the loan, desperate measures are called for. Marilla must stay with him, so it's up to Anne and Jerry to begin to sell things in the city to bring in as much money as they can. This includes a trip to Jean's place of business, the dress shop, to return Anne's dress with the puff sleeves. Jean way overpays her for the dress because she once loved Matthew, but it's nowhere enough. Matthew realizes he has a dramatic option. One sad fact is that after Jerry sells a draft horse, a couple men beat him and take his money. They have other fish to fry as well. I suppose we'll have to wait a full year.
