I almost gave this a nine but I rate VERY hard, so a 8 is a great-hit a home run episode! The pilot did everything a pilot should do for a series, which is hook you from the start! Within for the first moments you will be hooked!
The subject matter to some can be serious and wrong, however for me I dont feel any human should ever suffer and not be able to end their suffering. But ITS NOT ABOUT THAT!
Its refreshing how they capture this subject and execute it. They make a emotional and heavy point and put a amazing spin on it! They set four story arcs in the pilot and one twist that I knew right away but some may not see it. It was obvious to me and in hindsight now I'm thinking the writers should have hid it better for a better pay off for me personally. I didnt get the reveal that was set.
SPOILER: Soon as the cop kept repeating the mantra about wanting to die while looking in the mirror, I knew he was undercover. Then it was EASILY confirmed when the man walked out of his apartment, who was clearly working with him as Mary was visiting him. Also, the set arc will probably be her partner getting addicted to the drug based on the man that sells it not believing him. He states hes in recovery, so I'm guessing that will be an interesting arc to explore. The third is her family finding out. And the last is her job finding out.
With that said I thought this was a fun episode that was a little predictable but something that makes me want to watch the next episode right away. This is definitely a series based on the pilot, that anyone should give a chance. This series is available on Hulu in the USA!
