Sex & Nudity

  • Magazine that shows half naked models.
  • In one episode, Sheldon's parents are nude under the covers. Lasts maybe a minute or less. (Nothing shown)
  • Recurring character shows interest in women.
  • The show contains mild innuendo and a few mild suggestive to sexual references.
  • Missy is shows making out with a boy in one scene.

Violence & Gore

  • Season 2 seven deadly sins episode shows a woman watching a graphic video where a man stabs people with blood everywhere
  • There are some onscreen fights, but most of them show the aftermath. There are occasional references to kicking someone in the nuts/balls.
  • Bullying is a big plot point in this show, with lots of verbal references to violence. Threat phases dialogue like "ass handed to him", "kick in the balls."and "knock out the lights".

Profanity

  • Frequent uses of "damn", "hell", and "ass" (sometimes use of "jackass" and "dumbass"). Occasionally use of "bitch/son of a bitch". Less use of "bastard", "piss" and "balls".
  • Off-putting phases like "shut up" and milder name calling words like "dumb", "stupid", "idiot," "doofus", etc.
  • Blasphemy like "God" and "Lord" are used.
  • Language is mostly in PG level, beside "hell", "damn" "bitch/son of a bitch" and "ass" is used a few times and "bastard" is infrequent used.
  • The word condom and sex is mentioned a lot.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Meemaw is seen smoking in most episodes
  • A recurring character, old woman smokes cigarettes non-stop, but she's always coughing and hacking and gross, so it actually shows smoking is bad for you.
  • George and Connie are seen drinking alcohol in most episodes.
  • Meemaw says that she used to buy marijuana in one episode.
  • Both Alcohol and Smoking occur frequently throughout of the series.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • In season 4, a chicken is stated to have been killed offscreen and made into fried chicken, which characters then consume. May be distressing for animal lovers.
  • Some topics deal with sensitive topics like divorce, mental illness, bullying, loss of a loved one, etc.
  • Rated PG-13 for language and thematic elements.
  • For tweens/teens.
  • Racism is occasionally present of the show.

Sex & Nudity

  • Season 1 episode 7 Sheldon has a flashback of his parents under the covers presumably having sex when dad says "hot damn" after eating a smoked brisket.
  • Georgie gets a girl 10 years older than him pregnant, this becomes a major plot.
  • Georgie and Mandy are in a car and pull over to have sex, Georgie makes a comment "My dad told me to use a condom this time"

Violence & Gore

  • The only gory of the series, is that in Season 2, it shown a video of a man stabbed him with broken bottle. Has blood splatter everywhere of the room.

Profanity

  • Sheldon say "Fiddle-faddle!", and his parents thought it an F-word, but it didn't used in this show.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • In one episode, following her parents divorce, Paige (who was once a sweet loveable child genius) was going through some issues. She was drinking, and acting quite promiscuous.
  • In series 7 Missy starts drinking beer at a party and is shown hungover in church.
  • Missy sneaks out with a friend to smoke cigarettes, she smells of cigarettes the next day.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • In season 3, Paige's parents are going through a divorce, and she seems to be going through an identity crisis because of it.
  • In one episode, Sheldon is convinced that there is a body buried in the back yard, and he hears quotes like "over my dead body" and think they are referring to the dead body.
