It seems that “Godforsaken” may be just that, as Deadline is reporting that Stx Entertainment has stopped pre-production on the crime drama now that Sylvester Stallone has chosen not to star in it. The news comes just eight days before “Godforsaken” was supposed to begin filming in Atlanta.

Jim Mickle is slated to direct the film, which seems poised to have been his most high-profile outing to date; he previously helmed “Stake Land,” the English-language remake of “We Are What We Are” and “Cold in July.” Stallone, who brought the project to Stx and even worked on the screenplay with Lawrence Grey, was going to play an aging ex-con who seeks vengeance after his estranged son is killed.
