- A woman does a raw performance of her song in a desert and sees an illusion of a band performing with her and fans cheering and singing along with her song.
- The music video that accompanied "Perfect Illusion" was directed by Ruth Hogben and Andrea Gelardin. It premiered during the second season of television series Scream Queens on Fox. The video shows Gaga dancing and singing the song in a desert during a rave, with guest appearances by the songwriters and producers. Critics both praised and gave negative feedback regarding the simplicity of the clip.—Peter-Patrick76 (peter-patrick@mail.com)
- Blonde ponytailed young girl drives out into the desert, she wears black body-hugging T-shirt top, ordinary cut-off denim hot pants, boots and sunglasses. Big hi-rise off-road vehicle, stops, she climbs out, and lives out her dream of being a rock and roll pop diva, belting out the song 'Perfect Illusion,' singing about a love that just wasn't there, to an audience of nothing but desert vegetation. But in her mind, there is a cheering crowd goading her on as she fiercely stomps to the beat. Her outfit is magically transformed into an expensive cropped T-shirt and silver hot pants over which a leather jacket proudly sporting the number 74 is worn. She dances there in the frenzied mosh pit, and it being a Lady Gaga video, of course there's a guy she grabs, as if she is about to devour him, hungry animal, wild eyes and all. Drug-induced fervour?
All is, of course, imagination, the 'illusion' of the title. When she rolls there on the desert dance-floor, fantasy blurs, reality takes over, she is rolling there in arid desert sand.
