Not liking how season 3 they replaced characters
aishat523-930-3217245 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I loved season 1 and 2 but season 3 they changed people. I don't like the new people playing the old characters and I don't like some new characters either.

Decent Series
sherilynn-0175221 March 2018
Ok, maybe I'm easy to please, but I don't see anything terrible about this series as many seem to think it is

The acting is good, The plot pretty simple but I have enjoyed it

I think the Characters are all likeable, They share great friendships and its obvious they really care about one another.

Also, its a breath of fresh air in that their is No profanity, nudity, gore etc. Unlike 95% of Movies and Programs today!

I have no problem within anyone in my family (no matter what their age) watching this series!

From eight stars down to six.
jerzbouy-427-2367230 October 2019
I started this not knowing what to expect from a 20 minute or so per episode series. I was pleased to see that a lot of the cast appeared to be age appropriate unlike most "teen movies/series". The main story line and sub stories were interesting and somewhat suspenseful. Only a few episodes into season one and I was hooked. It only took three days to finish seasons one and two. Then along came season three. By the end of season 2 I wanted to give Greenhouse Academy ten stars but that would have been over rating it based solely on enjoyment so I settled for 8. Sadly, just after two episodes of season three I was ready to shelf the series. Changing cast members in the middle of a series is often fatal. Usually it is better to find some way to write them out. Brooke gained 10 years when they replaced her. Emma went from a cute little shy girl to one who comes across older and more worldly. Then there is this one girl who is totally annoying from the very start. (Worse than Aspen) The main male roles stayed the same and the supporting guys were but shadows. As for the story line, it went from mysterious, exciting, and suspenseful to "where do we go from here?". I hope season three gets better since I noticed that there is a season 4 listed.

The Single Best Thing Ever to Enter My Eyes
scmyers14619 September 2017
Alright listen. This will sound like I'm being facetious, but I promise that this is fully true, cross my heart, swear to die. This is the most amazing show I've ever seen. I didn't expect it to be so incredible - I got bored of Portlandia, House is no longer on Netflix, and I figured it was time to stop rewatching The Office and try something new. Then, lo and behold, this is on the front page of Netflix, and I watch a trailer, and I'm like, "This looks like a very nothing show." But I'm not one to knock it before I try it, so I put on the pilot. Six episodes later, I call it a night. It's been two days, and I'm I think ten days into it. You do not want to miss this show.

So you might be asking, "Sam, is it really that good?" Good? Noooo no. No. Nope, no, no. No. It's not good. This is the most hilariously bad show I've ever seen. The writing is so predictable that I've made a game of pausing the show right before a character is about to say something important. I'm currently batting better than anyone on the Mets has in decades (no offense Mo Vaughn). The only time this show isn't predictable is when it introduces a twist that's so absolutely insane that it makes no sense, and you just can't help but laugh, even alone in your bedroom at 1 AM, that human beings actually wrote that into some show about tweens going to a new high school. Oh, the high school. The Greenhouse (Academy). It looks like dump. This isn't like Zoey 101 where you'll want to go to the school - there are only like five rooms this show is set in, and they are all trying so terribly hard to seem like rooms at a hip boarding school that you just want to pat the set designers on the head. That just makes it all funnier. The actors and actresses are fine (in general), but the writing is so unnatural, cliché, and out of date that they don't shine - don't you worry, this show stays hilariously ridiculous the whole time, whether the plot has just dropped off a cliff or there's a heart to heart going on between the two leads. OH another fun thing. Listen for all the default sound effects, you know, the type that you might find in Windows Movie Maker 2003. Those really serve to help take the show beyond a 10. A la another terrifically bad movie, Spinal Tap, this one goes to 11

I could go on and on, but wow, you really just should watch this show. It is the worst and best thing to happen to me in a long time. I pray daily that there will be a second season.

Okay, love you, drive safe. Sam

Great engaging show, with some downsides.
GarnetVersus716 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I have watched this show before, I was 5 minutes in and was bored. I'd suggest for you to continue watching because it gets good over time. I gave it a chance and 10 minutes in I couldn't stop watching. I watched the first season within one night! Greenhouse is an easy watch because at times you think you know how things turn out, and you end up being correct except it happens in a different way than you thought. Long story short, everything is explained eventually, so don't sweat it when you can't understand what's happening. In those same words, the show has a tendency to be pretty predictable. Sometimes I can guess what's going to happen next. There are some good plot twists and some things that I wouldn't expect, but that comes as a rarity. If you watch this show beyond season 2, I'd say watch seasons 1, 2, and 4. Season 3 isn't great and I don't remember anything memorable besides (SPOILER COMING) Haley and Daniel deciding to date at the beginning of season 3, but that's it. Skip right on to season 4. I also (ANOTHER SPOILER) am not a fan of them getting rid of Jackie and saying it was a breakup. So annoying! in my opinion Jackie and Max had more chemistry than he and Emma, because Jackie and Max spent more time together. Also, season 3 the actors are changed out. You'll get used to it, but it is quite weird at first. The relationships on this show are pretty nice, I like the chemistry they have between each other without being vulgar.

Warning: Spoilers
An excellent series which is very entertaining and enjoyable to watch. Highly recommend you watch it. It has a very good acting cast with a great story. Once you start watching it you can not stop yourself from watching more! After the cliffhanger that left us hanging at the end of season 4 I hope there will be many more seasons of this brilliant show. Keep up the great show!

Good kids series
elih-4656621 February 2018
The story line is cheesy. The acting and writing is iffy. But the lighting, set design all make for a light airy feel that works.

I wrote a scathing review recently about how Hollywood makes anyone who is white or male or worst yet, a white male be the butt of jokes, the bad guy, and so on.

The producers in this film got it diversity right. Good guys, bad guys come in all shapes, sizes and colors.

Not a bad programme for pre-teens/teenagers
Ellerina9718 February 2018
I actually quite enjoy watching this show on Netflix. I came across it recently, and find it really easy to binge-watch. Sure, the acting isn't always brilliant, and the plot seemingly fairly unrealistic, but it is a fun programme to watch. My main issue with it is the character Aspen's horrendous English accent. I have no idea where the actress comes from, but her English accent is quite possibly the worst one I have ever heard. Every time she speaks it makes it difficult to focus on what is going on in the scene because my sister and I honestly can not stop laughing over this supposed English accent. Overall, good programme with an interesting and captivating plot and likeable characters. I admittedly haven't made it all the way to the end of season two so don't know how it concludes, but I am enjoying it so far.

Really sweet, enjoyable show
onesongtoleavebehind13 September 2017
I started watching this series on Netflix out of boredom-it looked cheesy, light, and probably excellent material for a hate-watch to take my mind off of school stress and anxiety. I considered my initial judgement to be accurate until about...half way through the first episode.

It is cheesy, and filled with clichés, but the the writing isn't bad, and the characters are so sweet and lovable, despite being flawed. The way the friendships were written and acted was really heartwarming, and the drama felt real. I hope to see a second season!

Eight stars instead of ten because the acting could be a little sub-par at times (although ultimately it draws you in), the antagonists could have been less stereotypical, and there wasn't any LGBT representation.

Bad story, but good acting
dirkwalker192 November 2019
It seems like they adapted the story for this series from something they found on a fanfiction website. The overarching storylines for the seasons are so bad it's actually amazing someone, somewhere read the it and said 'yeah lets make that into a TV series'. So many things happen in this show that'll make you pause and think 'well thats dumb'.

But the actors do a really good job. So many times cheap shows have bad actors. Not here. The characters are interesting and likeable. This show has a charm to it that makes it enjoyable. Also props to how they do the end credits on each episode, it adds something to the show. You'll see what I mean..

I enjoyed the first 2 seasons and I'm pumped to binge season 3.

If I had stopped watching after Season 2, I would've given this show 8+ stars
absurdcultism5 November 2019
Never mind the recasting. Yes, the choices seem a little odd considering the characterisations of Brooke and Emma from seasons 1 and 2, but they're actors; it's literally their job to portray different characters under direction and have it be believable. I'm a Doctor Who fan, so I'm well used to having different faces come in to reprise old characters.

It's the writing and direction that really sunk the show with season 3. Before this, there might've been a scene or two that required a little more suspension of disbelief, but the writing was usually very good and the direction gave us some very sympathetic, relatable characters, despite their extraordinary circumstances. Not so in season 3. I don't know what the hell this new "creative vision" is but I feel like there isn't one. The writing is ridiculous bordering on satire, and it feels like the actors are reading the lines cold with their least believable inflections possible. The shots feel stale and lack focus.

Wouldn't you know it? After I griped about all these things, I went to see who had been doing the direction, writing, and cinematography, and all three had been replaced for season 3. I feel ashamed on their behalf that they had a transition be THIS obvious and bad to even a non-industry viewer.

Jason has MPD.
manizeh-7812622 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Let's face it. Jason is not right in his head. We literally find out in Season 4 that he's been playing the bad guy AND himself the whole time. How lazy can the writers get? Also...can someone explain why, all of a sudden, Hayley is the miracle cure for a virus no one knows about yet? I get that it's fiction and all and that anything can happen on TV, but c'mon. The writers can't get any lazier, can they? At least make it have to do with the water. The way Hayley magically gets cured because of her own superhuman immune system makes no damn sense. And the way the doctor doesn't even take Leo's blood as a sample to study the virus is just so lame and unprofessional! That's NOT how a virus, or a doctor for that matter, works. Please hire some new, better writers.

The chemistry between the students is pretty good, and they actually brought my two favorite ships back together. (Hayley and Leo + Max and Emma) Hayley and Daniel was like, I dunno, two north sides of a magnet repelling against each other (if that makes sense), and a relationship can only work if there are at least SOME similarities. Hayley and Daniel weren't it. Neither were Max and Jackie.

I rate this a 6/10 because I like the concept of kids banding together to stop an evildoer, but the writers need to shape up. The water Hayley drank could've been the antidote, but since the writers aren't good, they just lazily make Hayley's immune system godly instead of creating a subplot of finding a version of the water. Or maybe they didn't have to drill Hayley in. I dunno. Also, I liked the Russian-looking guy who happened to be Suzanne's boyfriend. Why did they make Jason have a really bad case of MPD? I would've liked to see the next season focus on trying to find this guy along with Suzanne, but I guess that's not gonna happen. I was actually hoping for Jason to be the good guy in disguise, but NO, he has to have a serious case of MPD. Jesus. Also, Jason and Suzanne? Ew. Just ew. Why can't Russian Guy be real? Suzanne looks WAY better with him than she does with Jason.

Manizeh, over and out.

P.S. By the way, do you think you could get ME one of those louies? Pleeeeeeease? That would be great!

too immature
siennacolucci29 September 2021
Maybe this just wasnt for my age range that i was looking for but i saw teen drama and went for it. It was so disappointing unfortunately and was super cringey. Not only that but legit almost none of the characters were actually likeable and i didnt find myself that excited for new seasons to come out. Even though all of this is so, it was a quick watch that i was able to do in one or two sittings so it had that going for it at least. I just found it so juvenile, and im someone who loves things like big time rush victorious icarly and h2o so idk....

GREENHOUSE academy
jrata1 April 2020
I found it a really interesting tv series. It revolves around a high school in California that has a strong ideology on opposition between two houses: The Ravens and Eagles. Catastrophic events happen each season. I enjoy the fact that each seasons are short yet concise. Plot twists happen making the series a lot more interesting. The villains are good and the protagonists are likable. The story is also very interesting. The only problem is it's childness and not realistic enough in terms of teens talking.

Some pretty cringe-worthy stuff throughout, but awesome storyline!
manizeh-7812614 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Overall, this series is awesome for its concept and plots. But, unfortunately, this series has a number of little cringes. I don't really remember seasons 1 and 2, but in season 3, I felt quite a bit of cringe throughout.

Firstly, the series is very predictable. There are a number of moments where I think, "And this is going to happen now," and then the thing does happen, as predicted. There are many moments where something useless happens, like the time Leo kisses Becca, they date for like, 3 days, and then they break up. That was unnecessary.

They also didn't have to make The Client and Suzanne be in a relationship too. Did anyone notice that? They could have been working together for an entirely more creative reason, like, maybe, payment? Or maybe some other, more complicated reason? The whole reason for their evil doing is monetary gain.

Also, there is too much relationship drama involved. There doesn't have to be so much. This is about a group of kids banding together to save the world, right? Intertwining relationship drama is so stereotypical.

Also, in reply to a user who says the casting and dating is stereotypical, Haley, a white girl, starts dating Daniel, a black guy in season 3. Not so stereotypical now, is it? Also, Sophie isn't white.

Also, I understand why they changed the actress for Brooke, but still kind of a bummer. Why did they completely take Jackie out, too?

Now, for the positives. So far, the plot line is very interesting. I like how it takes 2 seasons to complete one storyline. It raises the suspense level to a greater level. I'm a bit nervous about the ending of season 3 and the start of season 4. Hopefully, they make Leo and Haley survive, but something hints at the fact that Leo might die. They could possibly find a cure at the last minute, but very suspenseful overall. Making two beloved characters die is not very predictable, but it would be very damaging to the series. Who knows? We'll see.

I really like the fact that they killed one stereotype: the nerdy kid is the loser. I like that they made Max an important character and even gave him a non-nerdy girlfriend. That's one stereotype they killed. That's not very predictable as well. I'm a bit sad that they switched Haley's and Brooke's houses. It just doesn't seem right.

That's all I have to say for this series. I'm outta here!

Predictable story-line but well put together cast portraying a somewhat high school drama.
acollierr1715 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I found myself watching this show because the title seemed interesting as well as the back story. The Greenhouse Academy is filled mostly with students who don't view themselves higher than other people or special. Not really snobby or stuck up. After watching this show, those qualities throughout most of the students is something that I came to like. One thing I wanted to point out was the contrast between Haley and Alex with the rest of the student body. It allowed the viewers to get a different perspective of the school. I liked that perspective and it's a major reason why I continued to watch the show despite the mostly predictable story-line the show has.

The more episodes I watched the more predictable the show became. Some of the conflicts and resolutions some of the characters made and had to resolve was a big part of it. One thing that helped me see how predictable the story-line was is one of the labels of the show being a "high school drama" in my opinion. I could tell this as I saw the relationships between Leo and Haley, Alex and Brooke, Daniel and Brooke, Sam and Jackie and Emma and Sam. I could easily pinpoint how ALMOST all of these relationships played out. However, I was thrown off of the predictable story-line during Episodes 11 and 12. Something I will get to soon.

I want to reflect on some of the conflicts shown throughout the first season. One is the Dean and Emma. Emma, manipulated, decided to follow her dreams of attending the Greenhouse Academy despite knowing what she was really getting herself into. And this all backfired during the last 4 episodes of the season. The whole buildup was really interesting and I enjoyed that part of the show. Another conflict I wanted to talk about is the bigger picture that will probably shape the next season. This being the truth about Dr. Ryan's death. The way the show tackled this is another reason I continued to watch the show and will probably season the second season. Some characters were a part of the conflict. Even people who I didn't expect at all such as some of the students and faculty at Greenhouse. Both Emma and her relationship to the antagonists of the season are what kept me watching the show. Without them, I would have given a lower rating.

Lastly, before I wrap up I do want to comment on the predictable story-line took a turn I did not expect in the last two episodes. I think it's important to note these two moments in the first season along with a spoiler warning. The first thing I wanted to mention was the fact that Leo girlfriend, Aspen, showed up out of nowhere. My jaw literally dropped. I did not expect it, but I'm glad it happened. Even though this conflict might be predictable, I have faith the writers might be able to muster something up in the second season. I look forward to seeing a triangle with Leo, Haley, and Aspen at the three points. The other moment I wanted I wanted to bring up was Dr. Ryan laying unconscious in a bed in the "cave" near a beach by Greenhouse Academy. This was another jaw-dropping moment and it threw me off. This is going to be another major pointer in season two, but Daniel's mom has control over all that, so it will be interesting and will definitely be a great support to the plot in season two. In conclusion, I liked the show and I like it enough to see season two based on how I was throw off after the last 2 episodes.

I recommend this series; but only the first two seasons.
headmete15 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
In the series it can easily be observed that young and inexperienced actors/actresses did a really good and hightoned job, like the story writers. I have bad news for the ones who think they will be driven to an enjoyable journey of 4 seasons: characters who are not the most important ones but the ones who help story to keep on keeping on change at the end of the 2. Season which is a big disappointment because it affects the watchability of show. First two seasons worth to be watched but You will find yourselves in a void in season 3. In my opinion, no audience would like this kind Of situation. Last thing I want to say is that you can settle for the first two seasons if you are pursuing an enjoyable series.

nazirmiah25 February 2021
Bad acting and odd characters, but i love the show! Season 1 was really bad and same as season 2. I loved season 4 though i really liked Max, he kinda funny. Suzzane and Jason characters don't suite the show, just too bad acting unfortunately. Sophie and Carter had really good acting. EM signing out.

Like a 90s show
sherrymo713 January 2024
Well this was a surprise. I have to say it really reminds me of something on Nickelodeon in the 90s or even the classic Swan's Crossing with less cheese. Great chill easy to nap in and out of show for a rainy day. Not over the top drama and pop culture like so much of what is out there these days. Nice and simple. Thanks Netflix!

Clean show, decent plot
brookebalmer9 April 2018
My kids stumbled across this on Netflix and being a protective mom I'm always hesitant about whether it will be appropriate for my kids to watch. To my surprise, it not only had a good plot but it was clean! So hard to find these days. It's not full of sex and swearing. Just a few kisses here and there but that's it. Thanks for making a show that I could let me kids watch! Hope you enjoy it too!
