Who says it is only the young generation that is doing weird things and is letting go of all inhibitions - just going ... sort of wild and doing things that one should know better.
As with most things this starts off easy and slow paced ... but it does spiral. Once you discover your wild side (is that what the intercuts with the character names is suggesting to us?), there is almost no stopping .. or is there? And I reckon having the characters be of a certain age, gives this a certain ... edge.
Because maybe of expectations, but also just showing what people are capable of, if they let loose. Not just footloose that is ... very dramatic, occasionally even a bit funny - but surely maddening to some degree or other.
