Another timely "Scene of the Crime" story, perfectly cast and thoroughly entertaining
The team of detectives from the German/Swiss border town of Konstanz are investigating a bizarre double-murder. Viewers are treated to a trio of almost witch-like older women (two of whom are perfectly portrayed by Hanna Schygulla and Irm Herman, alumni of the 1970s/80s Rainer Werner Fassbinder troupe). Another eccentric main character is a billionaire who was deemed responsible for the death of many East Asian sweat-shop workers, who worked in unsafe conditions to supply merchandise for his company. A surprising twist of looking into the psyche of that character has him doing volunteer work as a clown at a home for disabled children. That scene was very touching, yet at another part of the episode, he is clearly threatening the life of a lawyer working on a criminal negligence case against him. - The story line has the trademark twists and turns, is very timely, and even touches on the recent flood of refugees seeking asylum in Germany. As a big fan of the Tatort series, I find this episode to be far above average!
