Born with cerebral palsy, 30 year-old Angelita have only experienced love in the arms of her mother Amelia. When Amelia died, Angelita is left with her siblings who are hesitant to adopt her: Rusty is a successful executive who prefers to put Angelita in an institution; Millet's husband detests Angelita; and Erick is poor and fends for his own family. Using her ability to write, as taught by her late mother, Angelita relates how a helpless, disabled girl is painfully betrayed by the only people she can depend on.
