Although they do not have a scene together, this episode features Chris Pine and his father Robert Pine.
It is revealed that Calvin Sniglet's middle name is Hobbes, continuing the running gag of naming characters after famous people, plays on words, or pop culture references. "Calvin & Hobbes" is a well known comic strip featuring a over-imaginative, trouble-making child and his stuffed animal tiger.
The term sniglet was conceived by comedian Rich Hall during his tenure on the 1980s HBO comedy series Not Necessarily the News. Hall described a sniglet as "any word that doesn't appear in the dictionary, but should".
They cab company garage, as well as the diminutive man in the cage, are a dead ringer for popular sitcom "Taxi" (1978) and its star, Danny Devito.
Chris Pine guest stars. The missing person Angie Tribeca is looking for is named Anton Chekov. This is a possible reference to late actor Anton Yelchin who played the character Chekov in the Star Trek movies along side Chris Pine. (Though of course Anton Chekhov [sic] is also the name of one of Russia's most renowned playwrights.)
