Exclusive: Anna Faris (Mom) has joined the cast of I, Object, the newest feature from Oscar-nominated Gattaca filmmaker Andrew Niccol, first announced during last year’s Cannes Film Festival. She takes over the role of Melanie Lynskey, who departed due to scheduling conflicts.
Faris is now part of an ensemble that includes Karl Urban, Thomasin McKenzie, and Jemaine Clement, as previously announced.
A live-action/animation hybrid, I, Object centers on Tom, a 10-year-old grieving the loss of his father. Unable to relate to the people in his life, Tom takes refuge in the everyday objects around him. Pop can lids, suitcases and untold numbers of everyday objects reveal their true faces and speak to him, helping him on his healing journey.
Niccol directs from his own script. The project is a co-production between Canada (Good Question Media) and New Zealand (Southern Light Films). The Exchange introduced the pic to buyers at Cannes,...

Young Sheldon is coming to an end this season but the franchise will live on at CBS. The network is closing in on a straight-to-series order to a multi-camera spinoff of Young Sheldon from the series’ executive producers Steve Holland, Steven Molaro and Chuck Lorre and studio Warner Bros Television, sources tell Deadline. The new series will center on the characters of Georgie Cooper and his fiancée Mandy McAllister, played on the show by Montana Jordan and Emily Osment, respectively.
I hear deals with Jordan and Osment are still being worked out but the duo are expected to reprise their roles in the spinoff, which is poised to get a 13-episode order for the 2024-25 season. Reps for CBS and Wbtv declined comment.

Tripti Dimri To Turn Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Muse For Prabhas’ 400 Crore Spirit? ( Photo Credit – Instagram; Facebook )
Tripti Dimri has been winning accolades for her recent film Animal, where she plays Zoya, who gets physically involved with Ranbir Kapoor’s character. However, it was not a meaty chunk, and Tripti had to perform in whatever capacity her short role demanded. But now, it turns out she is Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s muse for Prabhas‘ film as well.
After Animal, Vanga is moving to his next film titled Spirit, budgeted at almost 400 crore. All the details of this action drama have been kept under wraps. The official synopsis, however, reads, “A gang leader tries to keep a promise made to his dying friend and takes on the other criminal gangs.” The film also stars Anant Nag and Trisha Krishnan.

“Bob Hearts Abishola” will conclude with its upcoming fifth season at CBS.
The fifth season of the multi-cam comedy is due to premiere on Feb. 12, with the series finale now set for May 13.

With the show ending, coupled with the previously announced ending of “Young Sheldon,” Chuck Lorre does not currently have any shows slated to be on the CBS schedule going into next fall. Joel Fields, the showrunner of “The Americans,” blasted the Writers Guild of America on Wednesday for failing to issue a statement condemning the Hamas attack on Israel.
“The Writers Guild has failed us deeply,” Fields said. “For an organization that constantly puts out statements to make sure that it’s on the right side of history, it has sadly issued its statements through its silence.”
Fields was speaking on a panel at Variety’s Hollywood & Antisemitism Summit, presented by The Margaret & Daniel Loeb Foundation and Shine A Light.
His remarks followed up an open letter that was issued on Sunday, which argued that the WGA’s silence on the issue showed that it had “lost the plot.” Fields was among the signatories, as was Joe Weisberg, the creator of “The Americans,” along with Jerry Seinfeld, Eli Roth, Susannah Grant, Steven Levitan, Scott Frank, Amy Sherman-Palladino, Jenji Kohan and many others.

On Mother’s Day 2020, Suzanne Morphew, a Colorado 49-year-old mother of two, was reported missing.
Despite not having found a body, local authorities called for the arrest of her husband, Barry Morphew, shortly after she disappeared.
Text messages between the two indicated anything but a happy marriage. They were both involved in extramarital affairs. Barry even caught Suzanne sending a photograph of herself in a bikini to her lover, Jeff Libler, through Linkedin.
By then, the two had already planned to end their relationship for good. One of Suzanne’s final messages to her husband was that she was “done” with the relationship.
Melinda Balzer, Suzanne’s sister, said that Barry had been “very dominant in the relationship” and had a “tendency to overpower and intimidate people.” She suggested that her sister felt that way in the marriage, even sharing “lengthy” text messages Suzanne had sent her only days before her death.

From Mothman to Mom. Deadline reports today that Mark Pellington has set up his next project, an action-revenge thriller titled Mom.
Pellington is directing the film for Roundtable Entertainment.
The “adrenaline-fueled” story follows a single mother who embarks on a daring cross-country rescue mission, piecing together clues in the search for her teenage daughter who has fallen victim to the horrors of human trafficking.
“We had been looking to do a movie that felt like a throwback to a movie like Rolling Thunder – something real, gritty, and of the moment; we were thrilled that Gabe Torres brought us this harrowing tale which is based on true events – and straight out of screenwriter Brent Jordan’s life experience. And Mark is the ideal partner for the material,” said producer John Baldecchi.

From Teen Mom to Bridalplasty to Milf Manor, there’s been no shortage of eyebrow-raising reality TV shows over the years. It seems there’s no low to which producers won’t sink in their quest for outrageously watchable TV. And usually, audiences will eat up what they deliver, no matter how trashy it is. (Just look at TLC’s ever-expanding 90 Day Fiancé universe.) But sometimes, a reality show goes too far. These 10 controversial reality shows crossed the line in one way or another. As a result, they never even made it to air.

Taylor Russell, Ewan McGregor Title ‘Mother, Couch!’ to Bow at San Sebastian’s New Directors Sidebar
Starring “Bones and All’s” Taylor Russell, Ewan McGregor and Ellen Burstyn, “Mother, Couch!” the feature debut of Sweden’s Niclas Larsson, features in a currently 11-title lineup of San Sebastian’s 2023 New Directors section, the most important sidebar at the highest-profile movie event in the Spanish-speaking world.
Notable in Trey Edward Shults’ raved-reviewed debut “Waves,” Russell stars in “Mother, Couch,” billed as dark dramedy that, produced by Lyrical Media and Suris/Bishop Films, has largely flown under the radar. Though “Mother, Couch!” Is his feature debut, Larsson is a high-profile short filmmaker, his Vatten (2013) earned the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award at Göteborg, and 2015’s “The Magic Dinner” starred Alicia Vikander and Anna Wintour.

Pakistani actor and producer Adnan Siddiqui, who has worked alongside late star Sridevi in the 2018 Indian film ‘Mom’, said arts sports and entertainment bring a sense of solace, an escapism for people, and it’s unfair to make them a victim of politics.
Adnan, who has worked with Hollywood star Angelina Jolie in the series ‘Homeland’, and with Irrfan Khan in ‘A Mighty Heart’.
In an interaction with Ians, Adnan talked about the boundaries for an actor, and how arts or sports can bring that one connection between the two nations- India and Pakistan.
“I have always maintained very vocally and vociferously that art, sports and entertainment are neutral grounds and they should never be mixed work politics. These fields bring a sense of solace, an escapism for people. It’s unfair to make them a victim of politics. Art bridges distances and should be allowed to do so,” he said.

Even with the institution of gender neutral categories in the acting and supporting acting fields, everything old is new again as the Seventh Annual Black Reel Television Awards (BoltsTV) announced the list of this year’s nominees for recognition. Two names were still returning favorites to the nominations field which also included one record-breaking repeat performance and one surprising new entrant to challenge them all.
The Best Man: The Final Chapters secured its place in Black Reel Award history, with eighteen nominations, the most by any program ever in a single year. The Final Chapters, the ground-breaking mini-series that brought back all of the actors from the previous two movies, also ushered showrunner Malcolm D. Lee to three award nominations of his own for writing and directing in the series.
Perennial favorite, Donald Glover continued his recent dominance by leading the pack in personal nominations, receiving five this year. Glover...

Chicago – What does an actor do after a successful run of a TV series? If you are Wendi McLendon-Covey, late of “The Goldbergs,” it’s an animation voiceover gig for Pixar Animation and Walt Disney Studios latest release, “Elemental.” McLendon-Covey is the voice of Gale Cumulus, a city official in a wondrous mix of elements.
In a city where fire, water, earth, and air residents live together, a fiery young woman named Ember (voice of Leah Lewis) and a go-with-the-flow watery guy named Wade (Mamoudou Athie) meet cute as the shop of Ember’s father Bernie (Ronnie del Carmen). Wade is a city inspector, scrutinizing Bernie’s establishment, and he kicks the paperwork upstairs to his boss Gale Cumulus (Wendi McLendon-Covey). The potential fire and water couple are about to discover something elemental … how much they actually have in common.

Heather Rae El Moussa‘s heard the criticism — that she is favoring her newborn son, Tristan, more on social media than her two stepkids — but she’s taking it in stride, saying it all boils down to timing and getting photo approval.
In an interview with Today.com, the Selling Sunset star touched on mom shaming after people on Instagram accused her of favoritism. She and HGTV star Tarek El Moussa welcomed Tristan in February, and Tarek also shares two children — 12-year-old daughter, Taylor, and 7-year-old son, Brayden — with his ex, Christina Hall.
Some of the comments include Heather being asked, “Where are the other children? Haven’t seen them on your stories lately?” Well, there’s a reason for that.
“Taylor and Brayden are in school all day, and I’m home with Tristan,” Heather Rae told the outlet. “I can capture moments with Tristan easily.”

It looks like Alan Palomo has shed his Neon Indian moniker for the foreseeable future: The electro-pop musician has announced World of Hassle, his debut album under his real name. Ahead of the LP’s September 15th release via Mom+Pop, Palomo has shared its latest single “Stay-at-Home DJ.” He’ll celebrate with a North American tour throughout Fall 2023.
World of Hassle first manifested as the next Neon Indian record following 2015’s Vega Intl. Night School, but naturally, things changed once the height of the pandemic hit; that album concept and the Neon Indian moniker both began to feel a bit restricting, so Palomo dropped them both.
But longtime fans can still expect a pretty familiar sound from World of Hassle. It combines elements of vaporwave, rock, and cumbia, which backdrop his biting, politically-charged lyrics. Like your favorite black comedy, Palomo wraps his dead-serious topics with a playful exterior. Pre-orders for physical copies are ongoing.

In the future, every movie star over the age of 45 will get to play a role with a particular set of skills. Skills their characters will have acquired over a very long career — maybe as an assassin, possibly as a government-sanctioned operative, or perhaps just as your run-of-the-mill military badass. Skills that make them a nightmare for people like those unfortunate character actors and/or day players cast as thugs, mercenaries, and international criminal masterminds. If those bad guys had let those abducted wives/kids/partners/pets go, that would...

How do you find lasting love in today’s world? For documentary-maker and dating app addict Zoe (Lily James), swiping right has only delivered an endless stream of Mr Wrongs, to her eccentric mother Cath’s (Emma Thompson) dismay. For Zoe’s childhood friend and neighbour Kaz (Shazad Latif), the answer is to follow his parents’ example and opt for an arranged (or “assisted”) marriage to a bright and beautiful bride from Pakistan. As Zoe films his hopeful journey from London to Lahore to marry a stranger, chosen by his parents, she begins to wonder if she might have something to learn from a profoundly different approach to finding love.

It's crazy that we've been hearing rumors of a "Beetlejuice" sequel for years and we may finally be on the cusp of it actually becoming a reality. The rumors of the sequel intensified in the weeks leading up to CinemaCon, including some on-the-nose reports of Jenna Ortega joining up as Lydia's (Winona Ryder) daughter.
We'll know soon enough if that turns out to be true (you can't deny she's a good pick for the unique brand of "strange and unusual" roles you expect in a "Beetlejuice" movie), but what we do know is that Warner Bros. confirmed "Beetlejuice 2" at CinemaCon. And now, composer Danny Elfman has talked a bit about the sequel and it sounds like it's not only happening, but happening sooner than expected.
Talking with Deadline, Elfman said he expects the film to start shooting in a couple of months and that when it does he'll be...

“The Conners” closes out Season 5 with yet more family turmoil front and center, as Mark’s high school graduation approaches, and he reaches out to his long-absent father, David (originally played by Johnny Galecki of “The Big Bang Theory”) in hopes he’d attend. What results is an angry confrontation with Ben and Darlene about what it truly means to be a father.
In the exclusive clip above, Darlene attempts to wake Mark up to the fact that his father will, most likely, disappoint him and flake. But Mark hopes differently. And that fighting energy falls smack in front of the man who is always there for him – Ben. As the episode continues, members of the family lament their own disappointments of that one important day years – and in some cases, decades – earlier.
