Sex & Nudity

  • Pretty tame by comparison to the anime
  • Shuvi is seen without clothes a few times throughout the movie. However, being that she's an android, she lacks any sort or actual nudity, so it's not too graphic.
  • Jibril and the fairy race dress in rather revealing clothing, exposing some of their breasts.
  • At one point, Shuvi kisses Riku after calling him "big brother" and expresses desire to procreate with him.
  • Shuvi straddles Riku while he's asleep, and Riku's step-sister walks in on this, assuming, gleefully, that they are making love.

Violence & Gore

  • More outright violence than the anime series, but still very little blood.
  • Riku angrily pounds his fist against a shelf until it breaks and leaves his hand pretty bloody.
  • Shuvi offers to let Riku stab her in her main processing core and thereby destroy her, but he ends up not doing this.
  • A man is killed in a large explosion from a distance
  • Shuvi gets exposed to burning ash and is seen with very graphic burns and scars all over his body and face. It's then shown that he lost an arm as a result of this.
  • Shuvi and Jibril get into a long and destructive battle, during which they cause several explosions and Shuvi loses some limbs (being that she's a robot, however, there is no blood)
  • Many intense war scenes throughout, an entire village is blown up and it's assumed a young boy is the only survivor.

Profanity

  • A few uses of the S-word in the english dub, along with plenty of uses of damn, hell, and whatnot

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The movie takes place during a destructive, planet-wide war with many battle scenes throughout.
  • In the beginning, a village is destroyed by an explosion and it's assumed a young boy is the only survivor.
  • A very emotional tone throughout, especially in the second half of the movie.
  • A man dies in an explosion, and his daughter breaks down in tears after hearing the news. Another young man also suffers an emotional breakdown later and breaks several things while yelling at himself.
  • Riku often suffers from survivor's guilt and feels that he himself is personally responsible for the deaths of many people.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Shuvi and Jibril get into a very intense battle, with the former knowing her chances of success are extremely slim. Eventually, Shuvi is beaten and then has her remains blown up by Jibril. Riku falls into despair as a result of this. Very emotional scene.
  • Riku sacrifices himself in order to end the war and save the world. This is a very emotional scene as it also shows how other characters are affected by his death.
