Having killed Richard lll to become king of England Henry Tudor ruthlessly disposes of his enemies and orders Richard's niece and rumoured lover Elizabeth of York to his court with her family, her mother having sent her little son Perkin to safety. Henry must choose a wife and his mother Margaret Beaufort, backed by parliament, insists he marry Elizabeth to unite the houses of Lancaster and York, over her younger sister Cicely. Whilst Elizabeth's mother does not get the response she wanted Elizabeth finds herself pregnant with Henry's child after a sexual encounter, thus sealing her fate as England's new queen - with an agenda against her husband.
