  J'onn J'onzz : It's a sister world to Krypton. Both capable of sustaining life, both orbiting the same sun.

  Alex Danvers : You've never mentioned it before.

  Supergirl : Hundreds of years ago, Krypton and Daxam fought a bloody war to a stalemate. Thousands of lives were lost on both sides because of a pointless war Daxam started.

  Winn Schott : What were they fighting about?

  Supergirl : Krypton was a democracy. A world of explorers, philsophers, scientists, and Daxam, was a monarchy. With kings and queens who ruled a population of hoodlums. We had a saying on Krypton for Daxamites, "May tex kolar Daxam."

  Alex Danvers : And that means...

  Supergirl : Nothing I can repeat in English.

• Supergirl : [surprised]  I'm... meeting the President?

  Alex Danvers : Unless you're too nervous to do so.

  Supergirl : Nervous?

  [chuckling] 

  Supergirl : No. Me? I'm not... No, I'm not nervous. No, it's... Nervous? Yeah, yes, yeah, I'm really nervous. I'm nervous! It's the President.

  J'onn J'onzz : You'll be representing this entire organization. I expect you'll be professional.

  Supergirl : [nods calmly]  Yes.

  J'onn J'onzz : And for the record, she's the one who's lucky to meet you.

  Supergirl : Thanks.

  [big smile, fidgets with her hair] 

  Supergirl : Should I get a blowout?

  J'onn J'onzz : Oh, dear God.

  [leaves in a huff] 

  Supergirl : [to Alex]  What?

• Alex Danvers : What is this place?

  Maggie Sawyer : It's a safe haven. Place for off-world'ers to hang out, have a drink. Not feel so alone for a minute.

  Alex Danvers : So, this is where you get all your information about the alien populace in National City.

  Maggie Sawyer : They also make mean peach mojito.

• Maggie Sawyer : I do like aliens more than most humans.

  Alex Danvers : Why?

  Maggie Sawyer : I relate to them, I guess. Growing up a non-white, non-straight girl in Blue Springs, Nebraska... might as well have been from Mars. I was an outcast and felt like it.

• President Olivia Marsdin : I can think of no better time than the present to extend our hand in friendship.

  J'onn J'onzz : Even if that hand might get bitten off?

  President Olivia Marsdin : One has to have hope.

  J'onn J'onzz : What if it's false hope?

  President Olivia Marsdin : It's hope, J'onn. How can it be false?

  Supergirl : Did you hear that? That was like a legit quote. People are going to quote her.

  [the other two look at her incredulously] 

  Supergirl : Okay, well, I have to go. I'm conducting my very first interview as a reporter. Just... call me if she says anything else cool, okay?

  Alex Danvers : What do you think?

  J'onn J'onzz : I think hope isn't gonna catch our would-be assassin.
