Stephen McConnachie, the writer and director of MIKI was a student of Rubén Grace Jiu-jitsu Academy. Rubén Grace told Stephen about the death of his brother and that he wanted to make a movie to dedicate to his deceased brother. Two months later Stephen had written the screenplay and one month after that, Production began on the movie MIKI, which is named after his brother.
