Martin Scorsese and Kent Jones on 'On the Waterfront' (2013)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

Martin Scorsese and Kent Jones sit down for this 17 minute featurette, which can be found on Criterion's ON THE WATERFRONT disc. The two of them discuss the importance of the film in regards to the history Kazan and Brando did but also the impact something like FORCE OF EVIL had on it. If you're a fan of Scorsese then you already know he's one of the greatest minds in the business so getting to hear his thoughts on the picture is something fantastic. Scorsese talks about the film, Brando's acting but also the importance it has in the same way CITIZEN KANE was important. The two go back and forth sharing stories and going into all sorts of details on their thoughts of the film. One of the highlights include them talking about the Kazan-blacklist issue and its impact on the movie. If you're a fan of the film then you'll certainly love hearing these two discuss the picture.
