mindless bachelor party
ops-5253517 October 2018
I was not impressed by this thriller.it starts with a groovy bachelor party, with loads of beverage, drugs and prostitutes.then one after the other of the partytakers dissapears,in a voodoo like frenzy of a spiral of chemical desolutions. the story is weak, plot and timeline are pennyless, the soundproduct are far from perfect.though all this negativism, some of the actng are good, also parts of the photgraphic artistery are splendid.but im sad to say, this is not a rewatch for me.

Got weird

At first this looked like nice clean fun at a bachelor party. Then it got weird. Almost David Lynch weird- with some jibberish language via "Twin Peaks" but not as successful. Too bad, it had potential.

Indie art concept that fails
jmbovan-47-16017317 July 2022
This film takes a trippy artistic approach of life existing on a "spiral" that doesn't live up to the promise of what could have been. Standard boring characters that tend to exist only in bachelor party movies doesn't help the film move along, make better sense, or any care/concern for the characters. And to keep their artistic indie credit, the film ends with a non-answer to what is happening without much to offer, so the past 90 minutes feels even more a waste of time. Sad film that can't decide what it should have done sort of becomes a collage of what is expected in a film like this. Boring ultimately.

Spiral (2018): A Confusing and Disappointing Viewing Experience
kazakineko8 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
When I sat down to watch "Spiral," I was expecting a thought-provoking and well-crafted film. However, what I got was a completely different movie than the one I had in mind. Instead of the 2019 thriller "Spiral" starring Thomas Elms, I found myself watching the 2018 film of the same name, which turned out to be a poorly executed and confusing softcore porn.

From the very beginning, it was evident that the filmography in "Spiral" (2018) was subpar. The cinematography lacked creativity and failed to capture the essence of the scenes, leaving the viewer disconnected from the story. The lighting was often too dim or too bright, making it difficult to focus on the characters and their actions. Along with an abundance of flashing lights, the editing was choppy and disjointed, with abrupt cuts that disrupted the flow of the narrative.

The acting in the film was equally disappointing. The characters felt one-dimensional and lacked depth, making it challenging to empathize with their struggles or motivations. The lead actors seemed to struggle with delivering convincing performances, often resorting to overacting or appearing wooden and emotionless. The chemistry between the characters was virtually non-existent, further undermining the credibility of the relationships portrayed on screen.

As the movie progressed, it became increasingly difficult to follow the plot. The story was convoluted and lacked coherence, with random plot points emerging out of nowhere without proper context or explanation. It felt as though the writers were making things up as they went along, without a clear direction or purpose. The pacing was inconsistent, with some scenes dragging on for far too long while others felt rushed and underdeveloped.

One of the most disappointing aspects of "Spiral" (2018) was its gratuitous and poorly executed softcore porn elements. The intimate scenes felt forced and out of place, adding nothing to the overall narrative. Instead of enhancing the story or character development, these scenes came across as cheap and exploitative, serving only to titillate the audience without any meaningful contribution to the plot.

As the movie reached its conclusion, it became evident that the entire experience had been leading nowhere. The climax was anticlimactic and unsatisfying, leaving many questions unanswered and plot threads unresolved. The ending felt abrupt and incomplete, as if the filmmakers had run out of ideas or simply lost interest in their own story.

In conclusion, "Spiral" (2018) was a massive disappointment. The poor filmography, lackluster acting, and incoherent plot made for a frustrating and unsatisfying viewing experience. The inclusion of softcore porn elements only added to the film's shortcomings, detracting from any potential merit the story might have had. It is clear that this movie was not the intended "Spiral" I had hoped to watch, and I cannot recommend it to anyone looking for a well-crafted and engaging film. If you're interested in watching "Spiral," make sure you double-check the year and the cast to avoid falling into the same trap I did.

I was scared of a screw in the wall. Like, really scared. Every shot was filled with tension. Beautiful looks. Great sounds. It was so much fun!
