They played us.. And they played us well.. Gotta give it to 'em..
Akshaykumar32223 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
So, last week..when Flash & co. went to take Alchemy down... Julian was conveniently busy, and majority of the viewers thought, Naah..that's an easy conclusion... Julian can't be Alchemy... They're just making us think that he's Alchemy... But as it turns out Julian was Alchemy, and they outplayed us.. What do you call this ?? Reverse-Reverse psychology..Wouldn't that just be psychology?? Well, don't know about that.. But I have to say, whatever they did.. In the end, it did come as a surprise... And I can't believe they're gonna do it 3rd time in a row.. The guy that the team trusts would turn out to be super villain later... And all 3 times they surprised the audience... Kudos to them... And I have to say, Kevin Smith did a good job this time.. Last season's episode "The Runaway Dinosaur" was lame... But this one was good..

The Flash - S03E07 Killer Frost
j_forbesy23 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
For me personally, this was an episode of the Flash I had been looking forward to for a while. Firstly, I'm a big Kevin Smith fan and his episode last season was one of my favourite Flash episode we have had in the series. The second reason was the title, Killer Frost. I really loved what they did with Earth 2 Killer Frost so when it was announced that this episode would be Killer Frost based, it had me really excited.

I really liked how this episode picked straight back up from last weeks episode. Rarely do we ever see this happen, so when it does, it give the episodes a mini movie feel between the two episodes. I liked how we jumped straight into the actions with Savitar. While I can see how the speedster villains is starting to become a bit of a rehash, what we are getting with Savitar feels so much different compared to the Reverse Flash and Zoom that it is keeping it interesting.

I really liked what they did with Killer Frost this episode. I like how we are still seeing that balance between good and evil and we are getting so see the early stages of what Earth 2 Killer Frost would have gone through. What really sparked interest for me was the story arc and motivations they had her play out this episode. I liked that even when Killer Frost was the one in control, Caitlin's motivations for stopping these powers from manifesting was shining through. We then saw Caitlin's personality and characteristics come out when Barry temps Killer Frost into killing him. I'm sure this Killer Frost arc is no where from being over but this was a great step in kicking it off.

Something that made me love the first few episodes back from Flashpoint was seeing how the dynamic had changed between the team. With that though, it bugged me a bit that they all seemed to patch it all up so quickly. So when the issues were brought back to the table this episode with Killer Frost revealing to the others that many recent events had happened due to Barry, we got to see another dynamic split, especially between Barry and Cisco. There's not doubt that the friendship between Barry and Cisco is something so different to what we have on any of the other CW superhero shows. They are like the immature bromance version of Oliver and Diggle, just a lot smarter. To see these two having to deal with such an emotion hurdle really makes it great to watch and I think a large part of that is to Grant Gustin and Carlos Valdes. Over the series we have seen Gustin grow as an actor and his emotion scenes become heart wrenching, but rare do I think that people notice Valdes. This season especially, they have given Cisco more of an emotional side and I think that Valdes is nailing ever scene he is in.

This episode we officially got our first look at Earth 1, post Flashpoint, speedster Wally West. While he wasn't a main focus of the episode and more to his arc of being a speedster will come over the next few episodes, I didn't think that his rebirth as a speedster was misplaced within this episode or the overall season. Next week we have the big cross over so I wouldn't have expected them to keep him out of action for 2 weeks straight. What it does now that Wally is a speedster in time for the cross over, is it gives the writers a chance to use the opportunity to show us what Wally is inspiring to be. Wally wants to be a hero and there's no better way to ignite the motivation of a brand new speedster than have him in the company of heroes from all different places around the world, and Earths, and time.

We got an end of an era this episode with Barry cutting a deal with Julian meaning he had to leave his CSI work behind. I thought it was a really nice scene when Barry is packing up his stuff and talking to Iris and Joe about the importance everyone else is to him and how the job is nothing compared to that. I also really liked that little nod to the pilot episode when we saw Barry looking through the skylight at the storm forming about the building. What this change of events did for me was ask what is next for Barry, but then I thought of something HR Wells brought up last week. Opening a Star Labs museum. This steams from the comic version of the Flash museum where people of the public come and visit while the Flash operates from under. If a Star Labs museum were to open then they would be able to provide a job title for Barry where he can be at "work" but really fulfilling his duty as the Flash.

Now onto Julian being Alchemy. While I'm still not sure if it was a bit of a tease and they are going to flip it on us later or it is the Harrison Well as Reverse Flash reveal, but either way, if Alchemy is Julian, then like many people I'm not surprised. I'm interested to see how he will be handled for the rest of the season and whether we will be getting some form of cat and mouse game with team Flash and him, or his identity will be exposed.

Overall, I loved this episode. While I don't think it quite tops the list of best episodes this season, but if this episode was in the previous two seasons, then maybe this episode would have been up there. What this episode did well was advance so many story lines with Killer Frost, Wally, Alchemy and Savitar all starting to hit their strides.

The Best Episode of Season 3
asb_deutsch9 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This episode makes you care about all the characters, even Caitlin Snow. I enjoyed Caitlin's screen time as Killer Frost. I was very sentimental that Caitlin Snow acting as Killer Frost. It reminded me of Harvey Dent in TDK.

Barry Allen best quotes: "We have been through much to let each other down now" "What are you waiting for? What's the big deal? Come on, live up to your name, Killer Frost. I want to see some killing. You want to be the villain. This is what they do. They kill their friends because nothing matters to them anymore, right?" "You can't do it. You can't. Because underneath all that cold, you're still you." "I don't know. I didn't mean to knock him out." Quite funny, indeed!

how does it do it
shortm-1687623 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
this show continues every week to be a high quality, fun and entertaining TV show. to me we have not had a bad episode since season 1 and this episode continues to prove why the flash is so good and why its the best DC superhero show on television.

the first thing I want to talk about is what you can guess from the title of this episode is. this episode focuses heavily on Killer Frost/Catlin Snow and did a great job with her. her arc this season has been building to this episode and the payoff was huge. I felt really invested in this story this episode and the inner struggle presented for Catlin was great and to see her try to overcome Killer frost was superb.

Another thing I really liked about this episode was the proper introduction of Savitar. The moment he was first on screen I felt his presence, I felt intimidated by him and that is a perfect thing to feel straight away. unlike the Reverse Flash and Zoom we don't know if Savitar is even human. He also looks to be much faster then both of them combined and pretty much handles Barry like a rag doll.

Wally West's story in this episode was short but great. we are finally seeing him slowly start to become Kid Flash and its really exciting to see where his story will go from here.

I really like that Flashpoint wasn't just brushed off within one or two episodes. I love that it has and hopefully will continue to affect things throughout the season.

MAJOR Spoilers HERE!!! so the ending to the episode to me was unexpected. I did not even think we would find out the identity of DR Alchemy until the second half of the season. but we found it out in this episode and to me it was totally expected. I said from the moment we meet Julian that he would be Dr Alchemy and I was right. we find out the he is Alchemy and now we know this I wonder when team flash will find out and what the will do about it. it could be a fake out but I highly doubt it is. I'm very happy with this reveal and I saw it coming from a mile away.

to conclude I thought this episode was one of the strongest thus far. the directing by Kevin Smith was amazing, the story and character developments we got were great and really helped the story along. Everything about this episode was spot on and the I cant wait for the crossover next week.

Breathtaking Episode
marveller-6622 September 2020
One of the most exceptional episode of the series. It also contain an emotional weight alongside a remarkable debut to one of the most important character in team flash. The scene where words from Barry emancipated Caitlin from her other half is the best of all.

Best episode of Season 3 and one of the Top 5 episodes of the series
hnt_dnl3 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Unfortunately, Season 3 of the The Flash was the beginning of it's downward spiral into mediocrity due to the ill-conceived and poorly told Flashpoint storyline. The season felt like a waste of time. A random good episode among a sea of mediocre/filler episodes. Centering the story around saving Iris backfired as she is easily the worst-written (and maybe even worst acted) character of the series. She's just not a compelling character worth the time of day. But the female that is the star of this particular episode I'm reviewing, Killer Frost, is.

'Killer Frost' is the 7th episode of Season 3 and in my opinion a top 5 episode of the entire series. Starring Danielle Panabaker as Dr. Caitlin Snow, the sweet, good-natured, brilliant scientist that is the heart of Team Flash, Killer Frost is the episode where Panabaker was allowed to finally show her acting chops and she rose to the occasion. Easily her best performance of the show, the episode revolves around Caitlin's downward spiral into madness as she now has cold powers that were caused by Barry (Grant Gustin) creating Flashpoint, changing the trajectory of her life. So Caitlin lashes out at Barry and seeks out to try to get rid of her unwanted powers, causing internal strife within the team, in particular testing Barry and Cisco's friendship as Cisco (Carlos Valdes) learns from Caitlin that by creating Flashpoint, in addition to her powers, Barry inadvertently caused Cisco's brother Dante to die in this new timeline, while he was alive pre-Flashpoint. The acting by Panabaker, Gustin, and Valdes was phenomenal in this episode. You can really feel the tension and it's sad to see this trio of interconnected friends turn on each other.

THIS is the kind of episode that could have saved the season and pushed it to heights of further greatness, but sadly, when all the dust settled, it went back down to mediocre levels with Barry having to be in every other scene with the show-killer character of Iris West and Cisco going back to being a horny comic relief character. Only Caitlin's character continued to be interesting the rest of the season with Panabaker rising to the occasion as Killer Frost. Should have kept this storyline going, Flash writers! Season 3 was poor overall, but there is always this gem of an episode to come back to that reminds what this show could have been.

Best Episode of the season
tracy_patrbv22 November 2018
This episode waa one of the best episode it not only showed what an amazing actress is Danielle Panabaker but it also showed how much of a valuable character is Killerfrost . Plus the amazing acting of both Grant and Danielle as always blows away as they yet again prove to have an amazing chemestry that makes us fans ship them together inspite of what the comics had established for hes love interest. Its a relationship worth exploring shame

Ranking/Reviewing every Flash episode: Killer Frost
lbramson11 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Killer Frost awakens and tries to find Dr. Alchemy. This was a very solid episode, maybe not better than the last but still solid. This episode peaks in its beginning and it's end, with a solid main story. This episode opens with Savitar's "Enter Zoom" moment where he beats the ever living crap out of Barry Zoom-style. Reveals are always cool and while the reveal that Julian Albert was Dr. Alchemy was predictable, it was still cool to see. And, of course, the main story which excels in showing Danielle Panabaker's wonderful acting chops! I've never been IN LOVE with this episode, but I still really enjoy it! I just had to round up to 9.

8.9/10-Great!

Flashpoint Ramifications
ThomasDrufke22 November 2016
I didn't expect the ramifications form Flashpoint would still be felt 7 episodes in, but that was the case with tonight's episode. Caitlin struggled with her powers, Wally was stuck in the speed-force pod thing, Cisco & Barry's beef over Donte was renewed, and even Julian Albert was an issue. All having to do with Flashpoint. With that said, the episode seemed like it should have fit way earlier in the season. If it wasn't for Savitar and the Alchemy reveal, I would say this episode was far better suited for right after Flashpoint ended.

I think the episode as a whole was jumbled and uneven, but there were flashes (pun intended) of greatness. For one, I'm really enjoying Caitlin's time as Killer Frost this year. She has gotten barely anything to do the first two seasons, so seeing her get significant screen time was pleasing. Cisco worrying for Caitlin's goodwill was especially touching. At the same time, the resolution to her issues wasn't earned. You can't spend an entire ¾ of the episode on her transformation, only to change her back once Wally needs help.

I think the episode would have benefited more if they spread both conflicts over different episodes. I'm one of those fans who could care less about anything involving Wally, and this episode didn't do anything to get me excited about his role going for. The tone was on the darker side for the entire episode and all of a sudden, Wally comes in and starts cracking jokes and boasting an unusually gleeful smile. I understand HR and Cisco crack jokes all the time, but it feels far more natural than anything going on with Wally. I have faith in the writers going forward, especially considering how Roy improved on Arrow, but I'm just tired of him right now. He's almost as bad as Carl on Walking Dead.

Caitlin was the designated villain this week, but I loved the ever-so- brief appearances of Alchemy and his boss, Savitar. Savitar dragging Barry through the speed force? That was bada**. It begs the question of how in the world he will be stopped, although Caitlin seemed to scare him away relatively easy. But do I believe the ending reveal of Albert as Alchemy is legit? I'm not sold yet. I thought I remember the producers stating the Alchemy reveal happened in episode 9, like all CW shows, so I guess we shall wait and see.

+Julian reveal

+Savitar

+Caitlin's arc..

-…But it was ruined by Wally

-Better suited for right after Flashpoint ended

Cool
cobi-8062023 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
The opening of this episode continues straight from the ending of the previous episode and what then follows is currently in my top favourite moments of this season.

Savitar decides to take Barry on a run, I love how he says that, then we see him run inside what presumably is the speed force. This scene is similar to the scene where Zoom drags the Flash around but never did Zoom decide to literally throw Barry through the speed force and then just continue dragging him like it was nothing. When Savitar finally walks to Barry he says some great lines like "Still alive down there?" and "You are merely a shadow beneath my throne". Barry is about to get stabbed but then the titular character stops him in his place and Savitar retreats (so much for being a god, I guess).

Due to using her powers again, Caitlin gets overtaken by Killer Frost who decides to find Alchemy by any means necessary. The acting by Panabaker is great and I already like this version of Killer Frost more than the Earth-2 version. All the scenes with Killer Frost were good and especially between her and Barry. I hope to see her storyline and powers develop further into the season.

I was kind of annoyed that they once again brought up Cisco's dead brother, it took away some of the focus on Caitlin's situation. Also, they had almost those exact same Barry talking to Cisco-scenes just five episodes ago. I hope they leave it for now or start using it to build new stories.

Wally and his cocoon thing was okay, I'm guessing Alchemy will get to him again. Speaking of Alchemy, he's Julian, no real surprise there. I was hoping he could've been someone else but we'll see, maybe there are things that have yet to be revealed.

There were a lot of cool/cold/Killer Frost puns in this episode, not that I dislike puns, some of them were pretty clever while some of them weren't.

All in all I think this was the best episode so far this season and next week we have the 4-night crossover, "god of speed" I'm excited!

Soap opera drama
imakk200122 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Love all the action parts, but the soap opera drama driving the ep was a drag. Caitlin/Cisco rescuing Barry, Caitlin/Julian and KF v. Vibe were great to watch. And that wraps up the good parts.

We already had an entire season of ineffectual Barry, now we get a season of it's-all-Barry's fault. The only outcome that would be believable now would be the end of team flash/Barry finally goes solo. Since that's not going to happen, we're stuck with a contrived soap opera passing itself off as superhero show.

Recycling is a good thing if the item is garbage. I'd like to think The Flash isn't a garbage show. Yet once again we have beat down by faster, evil speedster/worried dad/pep talk/I promises/secrets revealed and unhappy reactions/2 speedsters faster than Barry/bad guy in the midst/packed to the rim with team flash. Flash didn't start out as a garbage show, but they sure are writing it as if it is.

The show junking CCPD is another nail in the coffin of Barry Allen. (Why bother subbing Patterson in for Singh?) He's not CSI, team flash is the brains, Wally is faster than him, he has caused more harm than good: what's the point of Barry Allen?

Score: 6
