In about four years time, Andrea Iervolino hopes to launch a stadium and TV studios into orbit and broadcast the world’s first zero-gravity Mma fight from space. He’d originally thought that Galactic Combat — his idea for reality-show-meets-sports-tournament following a group of spacebound fighters — would be ready sooner, within two or three years, but he’s says some “technical issues” among his aerospace partners has pushed his expectations back. “But it’s not really far away.”

Blonde and Elvis were among the winners at the 2023 Golden Raspberry Awards.
The awards, known as the Razzies, take place the weekend of the Academy Awards and celebrate the very ‘worst’ in film.
While many of the films nominated did not make it near this year’s Oscars, there is some crossover, with Ana de Armas’s Marilyn Monroe drama Blonde picking up the gong for Worst Picture and Worst Screenplay. De Armas is nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars for her performance in the film.
This year’s Razzies were mired with controversy following backlash for their decision to nominate 12-year-old Firestarter star Ryan Kiera Armstrong for Worst Actress.
Writing in The Independent, Jacob Stolworthy said that “to nominate an Oscar winner, or someone with proven bankable success to their name, is acceptable; to highlight the performance of someone as young as 12 is not just tacky – it’s fairly reprehensible”.

Blonde has been “honored” with two Golden Raspberry Awards — aka the Razzies — which also bestowed an award upon themselves for the first time in the group’s history.
Andrew Dominik’s film, which led the Razzies with eight nominations, won worst picture of the year along with worst screenplay for Dominik. The Razzies called the film “misogynistic, salacious and fallacious” and said it “shamelessly exploits the memory of the late Marilyn Monroe.”
The Razzie Awards, which honor the worst of the year, are announced annually ahead of the Oscars ceremony, which takes place Sunday. Incidentally, Blonde star Ana de Armas is up for best actress in a leading role at the 2023 Academy Awards.

Italian producer Andrea Iervolino is planning to bring to the big screen “Maserati: a Racing Life,” an English-language biopic about the family behind the high-performance automobiles that, along with Ferrari and Lamborghini, Italy is known for.
Iervolino’s Ilbe Group – in which he is partnered with Monika Bacardi – previously produced the Bobby Moresco-directed biopic “Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend” and is also among producers of Micheal Mann’s upcoming “Ferrari” with Adam Driver, Penélope Cruz and Shailene Woodley. He told Variety he sees “Maserati” as a natural segue to those films about Italy’s iconic automakers.
“I want to celebrate the entrepreneurial genius of Italians, their history and humanity,” he said.
“Italy isn’t just pizza, mandolins, pasta and the mob,” Iervolino added. “It’s a country of many geniuses who left a huge legacy. When it comes to the auto making sector these families were pioneers, way ahead of the curve.

Every year, awards season fetes the best, brightest, and boldest films. And yes, that means for better and for worse.
The infamous Razzie Awards, officially titled the Golden Raspberry Awards, (dis)honors the cringiest movies. In contrast, the almost century-old Academy Awards toasts to the industry’s greatest achievements. But as always in Hollywood, there’s a twist: What happens when one movie is nominated in both awards ceremonies? How does one define high art and low art, horrific and honorable, despicable and perfection?
Since the Razzie Awards were founded in 1980, the awards have been the snarky counterpart to the Academy’s picks.
This year, Andrew Dominik’s controversial Marilyn Monroe epic “Blonde” garnered eight Razzie noms, including Worst Picture, Worst Director, and Worst Screenplay. Just 24 hours later and the film was among the 95th Academy Awards nominations list with lead star Ana de Armas recognized in the Best Actress category.

Awards season is upon us, and while Hollywood is honoring 2022’s best films and performances, the Razzie Awards shine a light on the “worst” movies and actors of the year.
Leading the field is Andrew Dominik’s controversial Marilyn Monroe biopic “Blonde,” with eight nominations. While Ana de Armas is not up for worst actress, the film is nominated for worst picture and Dominik for worst director and screenplay. Evan Williams and Xavier Samuel are also both competing for worst supporting actor alongside Mod Sun and Pete Davidson for “Good Mourning” and Oscar winner Tom Hanks for “Elvis.”
Hanks is also in the worst actor race for his turn as Geppetto in Disney’s live-action “Pinocchio.” Filling out the worst actor race are Colson Baker, Davidson (for a voice role in “Marmaduke”), Sylvester Stallone (“Samaritan”) and Jared Leto (“Morbius.”)

Andrew Dominik’s controversial Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde landed eight nominations from this year’s Razzie Awards, including Worst Picture.
Announcing the film’s Razzies haul, the organization described the biopic as a film that “explores the exploitation of Marilyn Monroe…by continuing to exploit her posthumously.” Dominik also picked up Worst Screenplay and Director nominations.
Rapper Machine Gun Kelly’s stoner comedy Good Mourning trails Blonde with seven nominations. The Razzies called the flick a “laugh-free stoner comedy achieving the rare feat of scoring a perfect Zero on Rotten Tomatoes.” Kelly, who shares co-writing and screenplay credits with Mod Sun, racked up four noms, including worst actor.
Kelly will “compete” for the prize with Tom Hanks, who picked up a Worst Actor nom for his portrayal of Gepetto in Robert Zemeckis’s Pinocchio. Hanks also landed among the Worst Supporting Actor noms for Elvis. Hanks plays Elvis’s long-time...

Nominations for the 43rd Annual Razzie Awards are in, and they have singled out “Blonde,” Disney’s “Pinocchio,” Machine Gun Kelly’s “Good Mourning” and “Morbius” among 2022’s worst movies.
“Just when you thought it would be safe to return to the movies,” the video announcement warns, before unveiling the nominees for the Golden Raspberry Awards (aka the Razzies) — the winners of which will be revealed on Oscar eve, Saturday, March 11.
Ana de Armas’ “Blonde,” which the Razzies say explores “the exploitation of Marilyn Monroe…by continuing to exploit her posthumously,” led with a whopping eight nominations, including Worst Picture, Andrew Dominik as Worst Director and for Worst Screenplay, and Worse Remake/Rip-Off/Sequel, among others. The film was also recognized for Worst Screen Couple with two nominations, which the Razzies graciously identify as “Andrew Dominik and His Issues with Women” and “Both Real Life Characters in the Fallacious White House Bedroom Scene.

If you thought the Razzie Awards learned a lesson last year about bullying, decency and humanity when they graciously rescinded an “award” they’d given to Bruce Willis due to his failing health, you’d be dead wrong. This year’s Golden Raspberry “honorees” include a 12-year-old girl (wait — how is that okay?) in Worst Actress, Ryan Kiera Armstrong (“Firestarter”). Also recognized is movie star Tom Hanks in Worst Actor (“Disney’s Pinocchio”) and Worst Supporting Actor (“Elvis”) — he of course is a two-time Oscar winner for “Philadelphia” (1993) and “Forrest Gump” (1994). Scroll down to see all of the 2023 Razzie Awards nominations.

With filming currently underway, yet another name in the form of Gabriel Byrne has joined the cast of the ‘John Wick’ spin-off, ‘Ballerina.’
The story will revolve around Ana de Armas’ young female assassin who seeks revenge against those who killed her family. Any additional plot details remain under lock and key, but producer Basil Iwanyk described McShane’s role as “pivotal.” It’s not clear how Reeves, should his deal close, will fit into the story.
Producer Basil Iwanyk says in a statement: “For decades, Gabriel’s mysterious and enigmatic presence has enriched dozens of films. You can never quite be sure what he’s thinking, and that’s perfect for this world.”

“Black Adam” (Warner Bros. Discovery/19.99) swept the #1 positions on all VOD charts this week. The Dwayne Johnson-starring DC Comics hit (still #6 in theaters over the weekend) is the fall’s second 100 million+ domestic release to reach home availability. The other is “Smile” (Paramount/19.99). Now in its second week, it fell from #1 to #6 at Vudu (which ranks by revenue), is #10 at Google Play, and not listed at all at iTunes (both calculate by transactions).
The difference: “Black Adam” is not streaming on HBO Max. “Smile” is on Paramount +.
We’ve seen some past releases thrive with that parallel play, but studios are beginning to realize the gold in the PVOD hills justifies delaying streaming for subscribers. Hit films boosts subscriptions, but they don’t offer the immediate rush of a lengthy VOD run. It also suggests consumers are beginning to catch on — how many people have rented a VOD...

“Smile” (19.99), Paramount’s sleeper original horror hit, debuted on PVOD 45 days into release. After grossing an unexpected 105 million domestic gross so far, plus even more overseas, the 17 million production should have been expected to be an easy #1 on all VOD charts.
Instead, it leads only at Vudu, where its premium price guaranteed a #1 position with that site ranking by revenue, not transactions. It is currently #5 at Google Play, and #10 at iTunes (where it earlier peaked at #4), and there only by not including a five-film “Pirates of the Caribbean” package that sits at #8.
So, what happened?
The easiest explanation is that, unlike when the studio placed “Top Gun: Maverick” on VOD platforms, “Smile” is also streaming on Paramount + free for subscribers. That hasn’t been the norm recently, as studios like Universal (Peacock), Disney (Disney +), and Warner Bros. Discovery (HBO Max) have tended to take the lucrative cash from a...

Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend is a movie written and directed by Robert Moresco, starring Frank Grillo and Mira Sorvino.
A standard biopic that, true enough, revitalizes an era, but does not give us much more than a glimpse of the 50’s and 60’s Italy.
Frank Grillo does, though, offer us a very good portrayal in a role that fits him like a glove.
Premise
Ferruccio Lamborghini start was in tractor manufacturing. Once World War II started, he turned to the manufacture of military vehicles, which ultimately led him to become the designer of the high end Lamborghini cars. The company took another turn in 1963 dedicating its capacities to the manufacture of sports cars Automobili Lamborghini.
Movie Review
Most of us know the Brand, and now we are offered a chronicle of the history behind high end sports cars. It is interesting, but does not shine on a dramatic and artistic level.

This review originally ran Sept. 9, 2022, in conjunction with the film’s world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
“In Her Hands” starts at the end: Tanks rolling into Kabul, frantic packing, and Maidan Shahr mayor, Zarifa Ghafari, sitting in the footwell of a car, shielding her head from the window as she flees Afghanistan amid the Taliban’s rise to power in the spring of 2021. How did it all come to this? And how will Ghafari get out?
These are the questions that documentarians Marcel Mettelsiefen and Tamana Ayazi (“Watani: My Homeland”) hope to answer – if only their documentary, premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival on its way to Netflix, weren’t hobbled by a lack of viable footage and genuine moments.

The cars are the stars in “Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend,” a pamphletized biopic that does the easy thing — beautifying Italy and vintage automobiles — but stalls with everything involving humans.
Starring Frank Grillo as the titular engineer and carmaker in middle age, writer-director Bobby Moresco’s admiring portrait is a gauzy, stuffy showroom piece that romanticizes everything from piazzas and vineyards to factory floors and car engines but never gets out of first gear in dramatizing a dreamer’s achievement or — when it came to upsetting the dominance of Ferrari in the auto world — a competitor’s drive.
The latter element is tritely illustrated by the recurring use of an imagined nighttime drag race in which Grillo, behind the wheel of his character’s famous ‘70s Countach design, squares off on a lonely road against Ferrari (Gabriel Byrne) in one of his ‘80s-era models. But no matter how many...

"Tell me why you think that the world needs another luxury car." "It's perfection that I am after…" Always. Lionsgate has revealed the first official trailer for a film titled in full Lamborghini: The Man Behind The Legend, arriving direct-to-vod on November 18th this month. I guess someone thought, oh hey look, Michael Mann is making a Ferrari movie, so we need to make a Lamborghini movie instead! Though this one is being dumped and won't make much of a splash, because the filmmaker behind it isn't that good - his biggest claim to fame is the film Crash, which everyone seems to hate. Lamborghini will – surprise, surprise – tell the life story of Ferruccio Lamborghini, the founder of the famous Italian car manufacturer. Starring Frank Grillo as Ferruccio Lamborghini, with Mira Sorvino, Eliana Jones, Francesca De Martini, Luca Riemma, Giorgio Cantarini, and Gabriel Byrne as his rival Enzo Ferrari. This...

In recent years, Grillo has become a partner in Village Pizzeria, a beloved pie spot in Los Angeles’ Larchmont Village. “The goal is to kind of expand out, just in the L.A. region,” he says. He’s an investor in Caliwater (co-founded by Vanessa Hudgens) along with the likes of Gerard Butler, Glen Powell, Ross Butler and Brooke Burke. And he tells THR, he’s “getting involved in a couple of different exercise equipment companies. It’s part of the whole being in your fifties, being fit and staying healthy — it all works into that.”
