After a seven year prison detainment, Michael gets released and stumbles into liberty. An argument with a stressed shop owner ends with Michael beating him near death. The police, who are familiar with the criminal, trace him to his older brother Robert's hide-out. Robert denies Michael any help, because he blames him for getting both into jail eight years ago. Without a clear path before him, Michael dives deep into the pulsating gutter of Hamburg and finds himself not only confronted with the hostile environment, but also with his own deeds.
