- In the start of the breakup of Yugoslavia, in spring 1991, there is a group of young conscripted soldiers in a remote military outpost. Their army and country are falling apart and the war is starting nearby. Friends are facing a decision of their lives: should they stay or run?
- A STORY ABOUT SOLDIERS WHO REFUSED TO FIRE ARMS A story about children who were dressed in military uniforms and required to defend with their lives an idea long gone. Viki is remembering the spring of 1991 in front of his former secondary school - today called 'I. gimnazija Maribor'. He was nineteen years old at the time and a soldier of the Yugoslav National Army in a small military post somewhere in Krajina, Croatia. The photographs of his senior prom are replaced by photographs of portraits in green-grey uniforms. Viki from Maribor, Drago from Zagreb and Boris from Sarajevo. Three soldiers, guards and friends. Images of the near future painted by the media at the time were bleak. Flags, meetings, barricades, ultimatums issued by generals, first battles, casualties...Nothing but hatred everywhere. In the small military base soldiers were not counting the days until they leave the YNA as was the custom up till then, but were trembling in fear of the day when Slovenia declares its independence. The commanding officers issued warnings and threats; combat readiness was at its fullest. Soldiers' rifles were loaded with real bullets.—Casablanca Film Production
