Great Discussion with Two Legends

USSB Hollywood Insiders (1997)

**** (out of 4)

This special production has Geoffrey Gilmore interviewing Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola as the three sit down to discuss their careers and the future of Hollywood.

If you're a fan of either director then you'll certainly want to check this out as it does a terrific job at letting the two legends discuss their films as well as where they want to go in the future. Watching this twenty-one years after it was made, it's fascinating getting to hear what they say and know what they've done in the mean time. There's a great bit where Scorsese asks how many more movies he's got in him. He talks about making movies at an old age like previous filmmakers and talking about working with low-budgets. As I write this, he's doing THE IRISHMAN with a rumored $170-million dollar budget.

There are also some great discussion about how the Hollywood system was broken into by the likes of them and how it all pretty much fell apart into what Hollywood is like today. There's also a great segment where the director's talk about foreign films and how they're pretty much being set up to have people hate them without seeing them.
