  Dr. Neal Hudson : Mrs. Harris, you need to listen to me. Your husband needs surgery right away, but we need your consent on his behalf. He's too altered to sign.

  Susan Harris : Was he alone?

  Dr. Neal Hudson : There were many people injured.

  Susan Harris : Was he alone... yes or no?

  Susan Harris : Of course. You're even tacky enough to be right here when I arrive?

  Angela : Susan, I'm sorry. I just didn't want him to be alone.

  Susan Harris : Well, that's not why you should be sorry.

  Dr. Neal Hudson : Uh, Mrs. Harris, we need to operate right away.

  Angela : ...I'm gonna go now.

  Susan Harris : No! No. You sit right there. What happens to him if I don't consent?

  Angela : Susan. Please!

  Dr. Neal Hudson : It's very likely he won't walk again. He may never even be able to breathe on his own again.

  Susan Harris : You ready for that, Angela? You ready to feed him, bathe him, diaper him?

  Angela : This can't be right. She can't be in charge of what happens to him, can she?

  Susan Harris : John and I each have a living will. Did you know that? No, you wouldn't. It's something that we did when we formed our family trust. They call it... A family trust. Do you believe that? I'm the one he decided to choose what happens to him if he's incapacitated.

  Dr. Neal Hudson : There's no time to get a court order. He won't make it that long.

  Susan Harris : But, he'll live, right?

  Dr. Neal Hudson : You're condemning him to a lifetime of paralysis.

  Susan Harris : In point of fact, I'm not doing anything. He's the one who made the decisions that put him here, he's the one who decided to be who he is.
