- Nigel Williams - Presenter: Dulwich College, South London - an old established English public school. Not the sort of place you'd associate with crime, although I can imagine a rather English sort of murder happening here... "The Case of the Poisoned Rugby Ball", perhaps, but it does boast a pupil who created the most famous hard-boiled private detective of them all. This week we investigate the strange case of Raymond Chandler, a man whose fictional hero works a territory over five thousand miles west of Dulwich.
- Michael Gilbert - Crime Writer: I was rather pleased as having said that a detective story was a sonnet which had its own special rules which had to be observed and could be rather beautiful and a thriller was not a sonnet. It is an ode with no rules at all.
