Many of the tentacle effects in The Quantum Terror come from the Oscar winning special effects company studioADI, who's credits include Tremors, Jumanji, Spider-Man, Starship Troopers, the Aliens franchise, Death Becomes Her, The Thing prequel, as well as the upcoming remake of IT, and Shane Black's The Predator.
Val Mayerik, who plays Detective Jack Ritchie, is also a comic book artist and illustrator. His biggest claim to fame is being co-creator of Marvel Comic's Howard The Duck.
Director Christopher Cooksey is the son of Rob Cooksey, who managed such iconic rock bands as Deep Purple and Rainbow.
While shooting The Quantum Terror the cast got to know director Christopher Cooksey's cat Abigail very well. At one point a strange occurrence happened during filming. Lead actress Kristin Cochelle saw her outside of the house, so, thinking she had escaped, picked her up and brought her in, only to find that Abigail was already inside. It was another cat that looked exactly like her. It freaked out the cast a little bit, considering that the theory of "Schrödinger's cat" is a big part of the quantum mechanics theme of the movie.
Director Christopher Cooksey was inspired by the first person camera work in Silence of the Lambs, not only as a visual style but as a way to seamlessly cut between the actors who were on a very limited set and extensive miniature work, to make it appear that the characters were in a much larger network of tunnels than the production could actually afford.
