The Elder Scrolls series, renowned for its rich and expansive lore, features characters that run equally deep. Among them, the Septim Dynasty holds a position of immense power and influence, with Uriel Septim V, the seventeenth emperor, being a particularly intriguing figure.
While his reign is marked by both military triumphs and a fateful misstep, his story takes an even more surprising turn when considering his near inclusion as the main antagonist in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

This article contains mild spoilers for "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire."
Earth, the planet we all live on and must share with each other, is an amazing place full of wonders. Even now in 2024, it's wild to realize that humanity has yet to explore every inch of the planet, with a staggering percentage of the Earth's oceans having only been mapped by satellites. Although it feels like we've reached an age where there's little mystery left in the terrestrial, there still exists so much possibility on our planet before we even begin to consider other planets or galaxies beyond.
Although the theory of a hollow Earth in real life holds about as much veracity as a flat Earth, the concept has become a delightful metaphor in the MonsterVerse series of films for the exploration of new realms, continuing a tradition from classic monster movies like the original "King Kong" of adventure and discovery.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ Season 1 finale, “Beyond Logic.”] All hail the king. And not just the King of the Monsters, Godzilla. Nope, if you’ve watched the spectacular season finale of Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, you know that a great ape is on his way! Thanks to the time differential between Hollow Earth (a.k.a. Axis Mundi) and the surface world, our heroes Cate (Anna Sawai) and May (Kiersey Clemons) have returned from down below after what to them has only been a few days to the year 2017, two years after plunging into the alternate world. Sadly, they are back without Lee Shaw (Kurt Russell), who sacrificed himself to allow their escape, but with Cate’s grandmother, Keiko (Mari Yamamoto), who has been living among the monsters since falling into the Hollow Earth back in 1959. Apple TV+ The time jump not only lands Cate & Co. in a new ...

If you’ve seen a hobbyist board game collection in the last four or five years, chance’s are that you’ll have seen at least one copy of Memoir ’44. This Days of Wonder game is a beautifully produced collection of plastic and cardboard that uses the well-trodden Command & Colours system created by the late Richard Borg. We’ve already reviewed the Command & Colours: Napoleonics game from GMT Games, and whilst the Napoleonic Wars are some of the most interesting for me personally, there’s no denying that Memoir ’44‘s exceptional production makes it a mouthwatering prospect.
Because Memoir ’44 has been out for quite a few years now, we thought that it might be useful to spice things up a bit with the most recent expansion, which is actually a remake of an older one. So, for at least half the plays we’ve undertaken whilst producing this review, we...

“Nowadays, you really can do almost anything with visual effects, but it’s a factor of your budget and your time and there’s never enough of either,” Lawson Deming explains in his exclusive interview with Gold Derby (watch the video above) about serving as the senior visual effects supervisor on “The Man in the High Castle.” Deming is nominated at the Emmys again for Best Visual Effects, specifically his company Barnstorm VFX’s work on the third season finale “Jahr Null,” which climaxes with the Statue of Liberty destruction that he cites as “the most ambitious sequence we’ve ever done on a show.”

Ronald D. Moore wants his upcoming “For All Mankind” television series to go where most alt-history stories don’t dare to venture: In a direction that won’t relentlessly depress viewers.
Alt-history and historical drama television shows have become increasingly popular over the last few years. While I’ve had a blast here at Fantastic Fest this year, and I’ve been fortunate to have seen a bunch of incredible films, I must admit that the biggest surprise for me was Julius Avery’s Overlord, a bombastic and gritty horror actioner that pits a group of Us soldiers against a squadron of Nazis and their zombified science experiments that are running amok. Not that I necessarily had expected the film to be bad or anything—especially since historical horror is something that very much scratches a few cinematic itches for me as a viewer—but I just didn’t know much about the film overall, other than it was Bad Robot’s first R-rated production, and holy hell is it an absolute blast. It also made me an immediate fan of Avery’s, and I look forward to seeing where his career goes from here (my...

When I first decided that I’d like to begin covering war games, I didn’t entirely know what to expect. I was unable to escape the feeling that these games were inherently complex and unappealing to play and it was a real surprise to learn that most war games follow a certain logic that, whilst sometimes complex, can be learned and taught more quickly than I ever imagined. Of course, some games are naturally more straightforward than others, like Hitler’s Reich, which is a brand new abstract simulation of 1941-1945 in the European Theatre.
Hitler’s Reich was designed by Mark McLaughlin and Fred Schachter and is published by GMT Games. The game is most certainly best with two players who each control one of the opposing (Axis or Allied) forces, although a detailed automated mode for solo players is included, as are some basic rules on how...

The Man in the High Castle is one of those shows which I always meant to keep up with but could never find the time for, so my familiarity with the Amazon series pretty much begins and ends with the pilot episode. Based upon the novel of the same name by Philip K. Dick, The Man in the High Castle takes place in an alternate version of 1962 in which the Axis powers have won World War II and have divided the United States into the Greater Nazi Reich. The first trailer for the upcoming third... Read More...

Amazon’s panel for “The Man in the High Castle” was full of intriguing tidbits about the upcoming third season, giving fans plenty of sci-fi weirdness to ponder while they wait for the show’s return on Oct. 5.
Amazon played fans a new clip from “deep, deep in Season 3” of the show, which takes place in a world where Nazi Germany has taken over much of the United States. The footage finds Alexa Davalos’ character Juliana Crain skulking around in an underground tunnel with her resistance allies, including new main cast member Jason O’Mara, adjacent to what appears to be some kind of Nazi facility. Meanwhile, U.S. Obergruppenführer John Smith (Rufus Sewell) is also in the facility, and a Nazi scientist is sort of vaguely explaining what this place is.
The gist is that the Nazis have built the tunnel around an “anomaly,” and they have a machine that interacts with it “perfectly.

It was a moment we thought would never come but now, thanks to the recent Fox/Disney deal, the X-Men are on their way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. How or when they’ll make their debut, we don’t know, but the mutants will soon cross paths with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and we couldn’t be more excited about it.
Of course, the one thing that fans most want to see is Wolverine teaming up with the likes of Iron Man and Captain America. And though Hugh Jackman has unfortunately called it quits with regards to his time in the role, make no mistake about it, the iconic X-Men leader will be recast and he will most definitely be thrown into the McU.
Who it’ll be playing him is obviously unknown, but one fan has drawn up a clever poster that keeps Jackman as Wolvie and imagines...
